Except that it is NOT great. These people are paid to say what they say. The FACT is - There is NO cure for glaucoma YET. The best treatments available (laser, drops, surgery) target lowering (IOP) eye pressure to hopefully prevent further damage to the retinal "ganglion cells in the optic nerve. According to the top opthalmologists (who specialize in treating glaucoma) a cure is still ~15-20 yrs. away; at best.

Hi there, I had glaucoma in my right eye since I was 8mo old, 22 now. I lived with little to no vision in my right eye for most of my life. Up until last year, my eyes were doing fine and I was wearing glasses, however my IOP skyrocketed and I had to get emergency treatment, with eye drops & even laser surgery to open a pathway for the built up fluid to flow out. My pressure has gone down since then and I’m not sure what it is specifically at the moment, but apparently it is ‘chronic angle closure’. Also, my doctors have been telling me that as long as I still have light receptors in my eye I can still be eligible for stem cell research surgery once it becomes available in US, which would allow me to see in my right eye. What makes a person eligible for this surgery in Thailand? Is there a certain IOP level you need? Is there anything that could prevent me from needing tube shunt surgery?

Not currently, and those that are doing stem cell treatments utilize stem cells from the patient's fat which is safe, but provide very few options in terms if differentiation or volume - which means results are likely minimal or unnoticeable depending on the condition being treated.

I've had retinal detachment surgery about 3 weeks ago , 1 day after surgery i could see that my vision was better because before the surgery it was almost black. Hello, the goal of the treatment is to restore the optic nerve function. Unfortunately it cannot help reduce the IOP.

Because, thank God, it is present in only one eye and it was due to some uveitis that generated a secondary cataract and after that cataract surgery, probably due to misplaced lense it developed the IOP... I only happened to notice the damages when it was much too late, and now I'm desperately searching for a way to at least be able to see light and movements again. Please, I'm sorry if I'm being so insistent but all I need to know is if there's any good in even trying.

I am in similar situation. I was born seeing with only 1 eye. Now that eye has tunnel vision because of glaucaoa. I'm always in the dark indoors - even with bright lights on. But please - Don't get desperate and waste your money and time with this. These people are paid for saying what they say. THERE IS NO CURE FOR GLAUCOMA (optic nerve damage) YET. I may have 2 surgeries (cataract and glaucoma) in May. Have to go for lense measurement for cataract in 2 weeks.
Try not to get too depressed. I try to think positive. There are people who are completely blind and cannot function at all without help. We can still see a little bit. See your eye doctor as often as possible to keep your eye pressure down. Talk therapy and medicine (Bupropion) helps me some, with my depression. Stay positive my friend- Who knows - they could get a surprise breakthrough to a cure.
