    On the deadlift ladder, Luke was clearly risking position to go for all 5 bars. He knew all 5 would be fantastic points so he took his time, but the risk didn’t pay off. Luckily it didn’t cost him the title

    I'm currently training for the dinnie stones and absolutely love to see it in events but totally agree it risks injury holding the small ring and foot/leg damage . For these guys that are so strong its more a test of grip and pain tolerance

    A lot of them bounced the cars along the run whether it was at the beginning middle or end, that’s the problem with using the cars rather than the Yoke, it’s as much about balancing the weight as it is lifting it, whereas the superyouke is already counter balanced so it has to be lifted all the way. Luke didn’t get any special treatment, if he had then he would have been given the win on the stones rather than a draw (if you slow the footage right down both Luke’s hands are off before Aiviers left hand had fully left the stone). As for Novikov I hate seeing anybody get injured but we also have to remember that he hasn’t been training in the same manner as he would have done before the war. He’s a member of Ukraines Special forces so has been fighting, which has meant his physique has changed slightly as he has had to be more athletic, you can’t fight carrying all that kit and body weight without putting yourself or your unit at risk. Now he’s torn his bicep, he’s out of action in both and I’m sure fighting for his country was far more important. Remember it was the Ukrainian government that said it still wanted its country represented in major sporting competitions as it was a way to keep the world aware of Ukraine as an independent country👍🇬🇧

  • @elvikingobarbaroja
    @elvikingobarbaroja Месяц назад

    I slept on Aivars but I got Luke and Novikov.
    I hope Novikov takes his time to come back from this injury. I think he might have overstressed his body competing to the limit for nearly 2 years straight. He may well have peaked.

    I don't like Nicol Stones and Conan's Wheel. It's stupid to have events where the fans can't see who wins the event. Having to be told: "Ohh he won by 57cm" or "Look he won by 8°" is not something that belongs in a sport full of spectacular lifts.

      Conan's wheel looks cooler, they put like a rack of motor bikes or something heavy on the aparatus. Dinnie stone, nicol stone carries seemed cool to do once but to have it at all major shows for a year is overkill. It's not the most fun event to watch

      So you want the field to have less parity? If the event is time based then the closest the competition is the shortest the differences will be. Most people actually enjoy thriller finishes instead of one guy dominating.

      @douglasnisbet1189 Месяц назад

      @petershortland478 because the events don't separate the athletes enough. I don't think strongman should come down to photo finishes. I like heavier competitions like the Arnold's or Shaw classic.
