Ford Mondeo TDCI heavy smoke, loss of power, EGR. SOLVED

  • I had a problem w my 05 Mondeo it starts heavy smoking while driving also lost power looks like Turbo going bad and injectors doesnt work propertly.
    If you have simptoms like I had , first check Turbo hose to EGR valve. Thats ONE of the common PROBLEM.
    I duck taped hose , that solved problem till I received part.
    I wont write all details you can see all in video and I will post another video w more details. If you have questions please ask.

    Very good video. I have a problem when I slow down to a stop or less than ten mph (16kph), where the glow plug light flashes and the turbo won’t activate. I turn the engine off and on and all is ok. I took the EGR off and it was filthy and caked in carbon/soot deposits. After a good clean, the car was better, but now the problem has returned. I’ll clean the EGR again and check for hose leaks. Hopefully that’ll sort it, otherwise I’ll look at the turbo actuator.

    First of all, many many thanks :* then i will writte bellow what simptoms i had and what i checked on my mondeo 2.0 tdcri duratorque from 2005:
    ***Loss of power... Hardly go from 120km/h to 150km/h on highway... black smoke everytime i step the gas a little bit more agresive and easely seen smoke like hell behind me. I was hearing something like an windy noise, like an low sound whistle, but only when i was steping the gas, after i leave it under relax, no more sound. Also shaking a litle bit on 4th gear going on relanti (relax).
    check turbo- - OK
    turbo presure- - OK
    MAF and MAP sensors- - OK
    pipe from air filter to turbo- - OK
    air filter- - changed
    Disel filter- - changed
    same diesel like before all this PROBLEMS
    injectors- - OK
    Injector electric cables- - OK
    EGR valve- - cleaned
    NO errors on dashboard
    After i checked this pipe from intercooler (thanks to A Fixo Das Auto) i find an bigger whole than he have, but on engine side, good hided :)

    What kind of loss of power did you feel? I have an intermittent loss of power, same engine. Engine couldnt reach maximun power and it feel like start to accelerate and going down, start again, and going down. If you push gas pedal at all have a very loooong lag. Do you think can be a turbo hose leak? Thanks

      @@indyvermeerschen1924 That is the turbo.
      I would check the pipe first.
      For me the pipe was broken just tiny bit and that caused a lot of trouble.
      EGR / Turbo swap etc....

    Hi my car is 1.6hdi drives fine when I accelerate hard alot of smoke less power

      Bronx I only can say may opiion . I would look at the turbo, if U have time to time glow plugs on accdeleration , that may couse. U can clean it dont need to replace it , I need to do cleaning but have no time :)

    Had another look at the hoses and found a split in one. Got one on order and I’ll fit it when it arrives.

      Asa, glowing plugs as sign: cause turbo failer, but doesnt mean thats go bad

    Hi I have the same problem I got with me two days ago and I thought the problem of injectors because while driving looked like a fuel injector stops working and did you have these problems exactly or not

    when i am in fifth gear,the engine just wont go when i am presing accelerations,its just like i am keeping the same speed,its that the reason? asap pls

      Hi, I guess on your dashbord blinking yellow glowplug light then I would go for turbo problem. Usually when you restart you car thats gone and performance back to normal.

      If he have glow plug lighting problem, he need to re-coded injector. But after some time, in my case 30 days, problem with glow plug light shows again. :(

      Ivan Pandžić bilo je crevo egr-a puknuto, zamenio crevo, zatvorio egr ventil i sad radi ko nov

      thats true, but I dont think that everybody have right computer to diagnose it. With OBD you can only diagnose check engine codes and not all of them

      Thanks! It was a combination of a split turbo hose and a faulty turbo actuator. Swapped them both in under 40 minutes and all fine!

    How can this be an information-based video when all I can hear is a nasty Scratchy annoying noise which apparently is music there's no point in this video at all it's a complete waste of time if you're not going to talk and explain what you doing then there's no point in making a video
