Sadly, there are too many things blowing my suspension of disbelief.
- The Ark is said to be facing a severe demographic problem due to rapid overpopulation, but everyone is only allowed to have one child. This would actually halve the population in every generation, and an occasional secret child here or there wouldn't offset it, especially as so many people die and are killed, and there are likely people who can't or won't have children.
- They are on a space station, which is a closed system and resources are EXTREMELY scarce. There is no way to get more, so they likely have to rely on extreme recycling. Yet convicts are just thrown out of airlocks instead of their biomass being used at least as fertilizer. They are even thrown out fully clothed, as if they had plenty of spare materials to manufacture clothing and as if every single gram of matter wouldn't be extremely valuable.
They actually bring it up. I forget what season but I think it was one of the last ones. They launch all the dead into space because when resources got low they would resort to cannibalism. Also if you were to grow food with human carcasses it causes tones of physiological effects.
Well it's fictional anyway so these are things not to think too deeply on
Population would be an issue due to human life spans. Also with how limited on resources they were they’d still need such strict policies.
this is assuming they had that rule since the beginning tho, I can imagine they implemented it after they had too many children already in the second or third generation. Even if they would have had it from the beginning, I think in such a close space people do get children more and even earlier since there is not much to do. So we would be on the fourth or even fifth generation already. Which would be 193 people in total, then most of the first generation dead (depending on if they were still a child or adults) then already, there would still be about 100 people on the space station.
This is just butcher's math tho, so who knows, just pointing out how it could be possible. If they had too many kids to begin with that number would be way larger. But if the space station was made for 100 people, they would be close on the max most of the time I believe even with a one child policy.
In the end it's just a fantasy series, the writers have to have their conflict, which they can pull out of thin air haha

I remember watching this from season 1-7, honestly i wished they had done another 2 seasons, it was dramatic, interesting and intriguing. I really recommend this series.
I was so disappointed in the final season….like it was so bad and rushed and the way they made Bellamy after all those years of having each other’s back….smh so dumb 😡
I love this show, and I hope that you go over more of this show. That said, despite all the hatred for it, the show wasn't bad to me. Sure it was a bit clunky and not so thought out in some places but I was there for the lore.

This is one of the few series from US that I got attached into in 20 years of my life. It's so good! the actors and actresses brings out each character alive, I can feel their pain, their vengeance, their love, regret, all that heavy decision, sometimes I just want to hug them for going through all that.. If you like adventures series, has survival, AI, travelling space, aliens or maybe not, immortal, then this series is for you.

Early seasons were alright, but I started to hate the main character and the dumb I can kill everybody mentality and ability the main characters had. Even though radiation could kill people very quickly, somehow we only saw 2 animals that were mutants and not much else. The gun action scenes were awful, just trash, and it just fell off. Show was ass

The whole premise of this show implies that humanity had no interest in sending probes down to the surface to monitor conditions. Sounds about right.

I loved the first few seasons but the last seasons were too much for me, I still finished it and enjoyed it I just think it could’ve ended earlier than 7 seasons. Also, this is a really good summary, Mystery Recapped never disappoints!

@@Zegger They likely would've died anyways, the farthest I'd say they'd be able to make it would be Praimfaya, they wouldn't have been able to be part of Spacekru, and they would've had to deal with the lottery for the bunker.
For a "regular" TV show, The 100 was surprisingly good. It's definitely worth binging since the first few seasons get better and better progressively.

Honestly, season 6 wasn't as bad as a concept as people said it was. Frankly, it was very unique seeing mind drives and how they associated it with the nightblood thing making it consistent for the situation with the flame since it was made by the same person. Although, I also thought that the show was better off without the last season. I think that whatever they went through that season should've happened way way into the future because if you look at it, the people in bardo were only there for 200+ years. I think it would've took a much longer time for people to settle in that new planet and find a way to "transcend". Another thing is that when they came back to earth, they couldn't have offspring anymore and I think it would've been fair if they could. At least let them decide whether they transcend or continue living with the ACTUAL things that make a human, well human. In conclusion the show was good and it's not baad yo rewatch, it's just that the ending could've been better. And hey, we should even appreciate it since people say that the book was pretty much shit. Usually it's the show that ruins the writings but I think this time the show did this story some justice at least.

the mind drives and tying back of the story to how the apocalypse happended and everything was really good but what made this seasons worse was the supernatural aspect of it- the teleportation, idea of another planet on another galaxy, the anomaly or wtv. Uptill this point everything had a reasonable realistic explaination to it. Instead of going on a completely different galaxy, if they just went to mars and made it habitable and teraformed it, the fanbase would have really loved it

I feel like the show would have been better if it stuck with the science that it already brought onto the audience. Another thing were the previous creatures in bardo, how come there was no sign of other types of creatures like that on Sanctum or the planet that Bellamy was in. There should've been something there at least. It became unrealistic in the end, that's all.

i remember watching all the seasons but i kinda forgot about a lot about the previous seasons, but it was like season 2 or 3 that there was a hell ton of bloodshed. I do wish there were still more seasons of the 100 after it ended.
I've watched till season 6. The first season it's the best out of all I guess. The movie focuses on humanity's defects. Arrogance, corruption, you name it. And even though it showed us things such as "mutants", it barely shows them or give them any attention. The first season put the most effort into introducing the effects of the radiations in my opinion. It does get more into science fiction but not too much. It's interesting the evolution of the characters, especially if you watch many seasons, and the fact that things go worse even in situations that are already bad makes it more realistic.
I think the series is very good and entertaining but it could have been better. They could have put more value on certain things than just forgetting about them.

I love this show for my film/writing study. They did a great job with the characters and story ideas. They also completely lost sight of the show's meaning in the last season and it ended HORRIBLY. It's entertaining enough to want to watch multiple times though. The acting is great, the characters are interesting and pretty realistic, and there's so much to love AND hate about it that it's never boring. I like seeing what was likable enough that I can still rewatch it, and what things ended up making it bad (writing, directing, the specifics). Especially in comparison to Game of Thrones which ended relatively close to this.
GoT was AMAZING with great acting, writing, story. But, due to the absolute failure of the last season, I can't stand to rewatch it. Why is that when The 100 ended equally badly, but I love to rewatch it? In part, the 100 focuses more on the characters and their choices than the plot. The plot is probably secondary to relationships. GoT was maybe more plot driven. Where yes, the characters mattered a lot, but we were very focused on the fate of the kingdom and the ultimate faceoffs/challenges that were set up for characters. That is, Who will rule the Iron Throne, How will they defeat the Night King, and how does it all tie together? Game of Thrones built up a story and completely destroyed everything in the end.
The 100 focused on how the characters handle the situations thrown to them, and how to find themselves. In a way, it never felt like it was growing into something bigger as much as seeing how the characters react to the world when faced with challenges, which did eventually involve higher stakes increasingly. The 100 is about the journey, Game of Thrones focused on the destination.

Ended horribly, look at the start as well. Literally logical flaws all over the place. They send people back to earth to look for resources with no set plan, no leader, can't land the ship in the right place, it crash lands, no accountability for not following orders on earth, wristbands are removed with ease, communication somehow breaks completely, theres no resources in space so they just float the criminals out, they say overpopulation when you can only have one child. This is literally the most horrendous thing Ive ever watched.

Like, you know how Riverdale was terrible, but people connected to certain aspects and loved it? I think the 100 is significantly better than Riverdale (which I couldn't stomach for long), so it's like, MY kind of trash tv? I adore Octavia and I get pissed at everyone who NEVER listens to Clarke when she's usually the most logical and practical, and they all fuck things up SOOOO bad. They could have listened and worked it out, but NO. They had to SUCK. And then they blame Clarke????
But that's the thing, I'm SO entertained by the drama and get emotionally invested. Especially compared to GoT, GoT was SO much better than the 100 FROM THE START. The 100 always had horrible, glaring problems but was fun anyway. So the disappointment of GoT cut even deeper.
@@secretlybees Season 2 in my eyes had the best char dev. It showed how Clarke can be very cold and pragmatic and why she isn't your typical hero that finds the best ending for everyone. I also like how in S2 no one was truly "evil" Mount Weather knew they couldn't keep living in that bunker forever and they needed their marrow if they were ever going to leave it but of course that hurts/kills the ark survivors. It was simply a matter of 2 groups were at odds for survival simply for things out of their control, they couldn't co-exist and Clarke made the best choice for her people, with dire consequences.

It's fascinating to watch how many times there is a peaceful resolution that can't work because of violent traditions and human ego

It was a shame what they did to the actor who played Lincoln. The producers were pissed about a negative social media post his mother made about them, and told him to make her remove it. He told them she’s a grown ass adult, and she can say whatever she likes.
They then cut his role down to about 1/2 of what it was supposed to be, and rewrote the script to have him killed off, when he was supposed to be in the next season at minimum.

I’ve watched through 4 seasons of this and it’s not the worst young adult SCi-Fi I’ve seen. The First season especially is worth watching.

I’m addicted to this channel. I never have the attention span to watch movies unless they’re Marvel or DC Comics or something that’s REALLY good lol. I can’t watch suspense or scary movies, like Bird Box or the one with the Invisible man or anything like that because I just put myself in the characters shoes to the point where I have literal physical anxiety symptoms to the point where I just have to stop watching, so these recaps are PERFECT!!
please do all the series i watched up to season 3 back in the day and fell off id love to see how it ends without spending 100 hours lol

People are saying season 6 and 7 weren't very good, but imo season 6 was awesome. The final season just wasn't that good, but I like how season 6 brought a new world and new people into the story. Plus with additional good, new actors and some heavy deaths that really changed a lot, overall it wasn't so bad.
I think people don't like it cuz it's just so different from the other seasons, sure this show has a lot of strange logic, but season 6 was pretty impressive with the way it worked. This show was surprisingly very entertaining with likeable characters and cool events, it's a shame the final season just couldn't match the others
Season 6 had so much potential and could have been great, but there was not so much badass moments compared to seasons 1-5. I feel like the characters became weak physically and emotionally.

This is the first show I've seen from start to end without skipping a single episode, I used to be addicted to it. I've seen many more since, but this one will always stay of the greatest shows I've ever seen. It's phenomenal.

I absolutely hated how they ended it killing Bellamy off. So unnecessary.
The guy who played him actually married the girl who played Clark. She was pregnant but miscarried, and it really messed him up. He actually requested to have his character killed off.

I watched this completely in under a month XD I remember I even had to wait for the latest season released.
The is one of a few series I deeply love , it's an emotional scifi adventure/journey , I love season 2,3,4 the most
season 2 was good but i don’t really like it for some reason. my favorite would be 4 or 6. season 4 bc of how intense the last few episodes were and 6 bc of josephine she is probably my favorite antagonist in the show. i really felt bad for her bc of what happened with her “ex”. so she kinda was messed up in the head after that. i kinda wish she somehow survived.
