      Also funny: a human sucked into the space vacuum won't freeze immediately. He will have breathing problems and his blood starts to boil, but he doesn't turn into a block of ice instantly. In a weightless environment his own body heat will stay close to him for quite a while, there's no cooling breeze in space.
      Yet he will lose consciousness and become comatose within a few minutes.
      What is also absolutely true: in space no one can hear your scream...
      But when you fart into the right direction, you may projectile yourself back into the airlock. It's advisable to drop your pants first.
      :--))

    • @KnightYellow
      @KnightYellow Год назад +13

      @@willemvandeursen3105 "In a weightless environment his own body heat will stay close to him for quite a while" half right, its not got anything to do with it being weightless, heat can only transfer by radiating in a vacuum which takes a lot of time. And technically speaking depending on how close the body was to the sun at the time then there is a real possibility that the body would never actually freeze as the radiated heat from the sun would be more than the body would lose radiating heat out into space. If you were as close to the sun as Earth is for example you would experience temperatures of 120c or 248f in direct sunlight, actually cooking you rather than freezing you.

    actually, fun little fact: you dont freeze to death in space, you suffocate, reason being the lack of air and any medium for you to lose heat to, so it takes upwards of 30 minute to an hour to freeze in the vacuum of space from thermal radiation, assuming you are not in direct sunlight, in case of being in direct sunlight, it depends on distance from the sun, at earth orbit, direct sunlight heats surfaces up to 120 degrees celcius (248 merica units) so whatever side of you is facing the sun is experiencing 120 C, where the other side of you, which is in the shade, experience over -100 C, but dont worry, you will suffocate and die within seconds as all the air in your lungues, stomach and intestines is forcefully "sucked" out of you by the vacuume of space so you'll never live long enough to experience these temperatures, as you lose conciousness you'll feel your saliva and moisture on your eyes boil away, if theres any pee in your bladder it will be forced out and instantly start boiling and evaporate, oh, and that gas in your intestines? yeah... thats not the only thing being forced out of you, so, space... while fast, not a very fun place to die in.
    and teleported to another planet? so he dead then, the odds of there being a planet with just the right atmospheric composition for human life is obsenely low, and the odds just become lower when you take microbes and other factors into account.

    i remember watching the show years ago, it was pretty good but kind of came apart late in the series.

    Never has a series had me so anticipating it, so immediately invested, only to have all that dissipate with the big reveal, then rub salt in the wound with the second twist.

      It was a mini series.
      Mini Series aren't at the whim of cancelation
      It was INTENDED to end that way
      It wasn't a first season
      Anything else would change the narrative

    Seems to be a reoccurring theme, people thinking there on long term space mission, only to turn out their in a hole in the ground. Pity Netflix cancelled 1899, I was wanting to see where that went.

      It would have been very interesting if they had given this a second season there were so many interesting unanswered questions including who actually was providing mission support for all of this and how did the project maintain security for all those years without anyone knowing about it., This literally could have become the space version of The prisoner if they had supported it
      This is another example of a studio or a network throwing away a excellent idea and not following through past a first season

    The scariest part about a murder happening in a isolated space... Has to be the instant realization that you cannot trust anyone. It's true that revenge doesn't solve anything because the first thing I would have thought of if I thought there was a murderer on my spaceship is to crash the spaceship.

  • @josephreagan9545
    @josephreagan9545 7 месяцев назад +3

    If you could survive on a ship like this for decades then there would be no need to go to another planet. You just make the ship your home and expand it via minie astroids when needed.

      It was a Mini Series.
      It was INTENDED to end that way
      IT ENDED with a reveal that the project SUCCEEDED.
      All that is left is to discuss the morality and if it was it worth it?
      What else could they show?
      Seeing more children with powers? Seeing Christa be captured or fighting? What is the point? What would it add to the story they WANTED to tell?

  • @FlamesAndShadows
    @FlamesAndShadows Год назад +3

    So... Do they have other similations running that test ingenuity of humans to build, terraform and thrive in a barren hostile enviroment? Because this sounds all too easy to cheat themselves out of, if ever any supplies or parts run out, be sabotaged or just be a subject to wear and tear.

    10:30 my brain goes from "why would they launch from earth with glass" to "how would they still have any glass cups after 50 years?"

  • @km077
    @km077 Год назад +5

    The movie started well. Expected the Earth's technology to ascend to godhood and, when the supposed ship would arrive, for it to turn out that the humans, who stayed on Earth, got there first and the colony was already established and is thriving. Was disappointed with how weird they handled this version of the plot: one man would not have been able to do sht, because on a project like this there are tons of surveillance, protocols and strict rules.

  • @I1p
    @I1p Год назад +12

    I’m gonna guess that they don’t turn back to earth, because 51 is exactly 1 year over 50, and they might say something like “It will take longer to turn back then go to the destination”. 4:28
