This is the classic example of taking a good idea for a story, but not knowing where to stop adding so much crap to it that you ruin everything.
The Black actor is playing the role of The Black Guy That Keeps Getting Punched In The Face But Does Not Punch Back.

@@nifty55 du u have more subs than him xD
I'm sorry, but I couldn't help laughing when he said "Instead freezing in the vacuum of space... he lands on an inflated mattress" 🤣😅
Also funny: a human sucked into the space vacuum won't freeze immediately. He will have breathing problems and his blood starts to boil, but he doesn't turn into a block of ice instantly. In a weightless environment his own body heat will stay close to him for quite a while, there's no cooling breeze in space.
Yet he will lose consciousness and become comatose within a few minutes.
What is also absolutely true: in space no one can hear your scream...
But when you fart into the right direction, you may projectile yourself back into the airlock. It's advisable to drop your pants first.
:--))
@@willemvandeursen3105 "In a weightless environment his own body heat will stay close to him for quite a while" half right, its not got anything to do with it being weightless, heat can only transfer by radiating in a vacuum which takes a lot of time. And technically speaking depending on how close the body was to the sun at the time then there is a real possibility that the body would never actually freeze as the radiated heat from the sun would be more than the body would lose radiating heat out into space. If you were as close to the sun as Earth is for example you would experience temperatures of 120c or 248f in direct sunlight, actually cooking you rather than freezing you.
@@willemvandeursen3105 this farting stunt needs to be in a Rick and Morty episode😂

It's trash after the super power bullshit
I hope the reactor of the "ship" is a universal breeder, and you would think that this premonition power would reveal the project having duped the crew. Also I wonder if you typed what you did because *you never met a Metagene!*

I actually watched this when it came out, I instantly knew that they were still on earth because there's no way that the US government of the 1960s would send african americans on such a mission.
Nah, the military was integrated by then. What’s dumb is the 50 years of Andy Griffith Show harmony and then suddenly everything falls apart conveniently in the then current year the show was aired.
@@chamuuemura5314integrated but racism was still alive and well so African Americans weren’t given any respectable positions. An entry level soldier? sure. A respected member of the military management? No.
I knew they had to be on earth because of the abundance of resources they had despite all the obvious waste.
Plus, no one is gonna waste money sending volunteers on such a voyage. They would have been profiled to hell and clinically selected to ensure a cohesive society. So skilled, healthy, rational, and organized. Not random people that are gonna burn the place down.
Only 1 season. Wasted the many hours I invested into this series without a conclusion.
@@chamuuemura5314we are talking about 1960s when leeching was still pretty much alive ,segregation was alive and racism was the norm .

This show is really underrated, it had a really unique plot and I wish it had a second season.

Why dafu didn't it have a 2nd season
This wasn't unique... It's been done for several shows/movies

This show was actually really good and a fun watch, I wish it got a second season. People seem to think this was a movie, no it was a mini-series.
Little did they know that the Cuban Missile Crisis managed to be resolved without nuclear war, and those onboard the Generation Ship didn't get the news

I can't believe it's already 8 years this was on TV. Should've had a 2nd season, imo.
I share that feeling, in fact I was so disgusted after a long long wait, that a second season was never coming. I sat thru all the episodes and what you get in the end of the season is nada, nothing. Too bad, it was a very good show.
Yeah
I forgot 2014 was 8 years ago🤣times gone by fast

Holy the tech in 60s was so advanced!!! 😂
Yes. They got to the moon, but then we regressed. It is almost as if Patton was right. Operation Paperclip ftw, but then nothing.
The whole point was that they were trying to develop this power as a means of teleportation to other planetrs but the show got cancelled and left us with a huge cliffhanger ending.
It was INTENDED to end that way. No second season/pick up "hoped" for. It wasn't a first season.
This was NOT a series subject to cancellation whims, it was a MINI series.
Those don't get renewed or cancelled
Those END. Like Taken, 10th Kingdom and Childhood's End
The POINT of the ending is they succeeded. Anything else would change the narrative
@@ChibiHoshiDragon lol did your mommy work on the show? stop lying to people about it beiong a mini series.
actually, fun little fact: you dont freeze to death in space, you suffocate, reason being the lack of air and any medium for you to lose heat to, so it takes upwards of 30 minute to an hour to freeze in the vacuum of space from thermal radiation, assuming you are not in direct sunlight, in case of being in direct sunlight, it depends on distance from the sun, at earth orbit, direct sunlight heats surfaces up to 120 degrees celcius (248 merica units) so whatever side of you is facing the sun is experiencing 120 C, where the other side of you, which is in the shade, experience over -100 C, but dont worry, you will suffocate and die within seconds as all the air in your lungues, stomach and intestines is forcefully "sucked" out of you by the vacuume of space so you'll never live long enough to experience these temperatures, as you lose conciousness you'll feel your saliva and moisture on your eyes boil away, if theres any pee in your bladder it will be forced out and instantly start boiling and evaporate, oh, and that gas in your intestines? yeah... thats not the only thing being forced out of you, so, space... while fast, not a very fun place to die in.
and teleported to another planet? so he dead then, the odds of there being a planet with just the right atmospheric composition for human life is obsenely low, and the odds just become lower when you take microbes and other factors into account.
If you're willing to buy that he teleports then you can be willing to buy he subconsciously teleported to a place he can live on odds are one exists... Or maybe he teleported to another simulation... You see people come kill him off and we start season 2...
Those are amazing facts Theldras. Glad to know you're not a "flerfer".

The ethics of such an experiment irl would be beyond unacceptable 😅
I agree but sometimes ethics have been bent by our government, that prevented a large scale threat to human civalization or even all lifeon earth, just can't go into any details, but things are not what we are programed to think...
They have it.. it’s underground and the people are not registered. Argentina/Germany/US underground ran these type of experiments where you think you’re “off world” to see how humans react.
Well of course... in today's world. All that ethics stuff about informed consent and whatnot didn't really exist before the Stanford Prison Experiment in 1971. In Ascension, the ship was "launched" 5-10 years before that.

Too bad there wasn't another season this was a good show
they shoulda known that they cant make it to proxima centauri in 100 years. it takes a while to make it using LIGHT SPEED, and the fastest we've ever gone is 70 kilometers per second
proxima centauri is 4 light years away, so it would take 4 years to reach there at light speed...
@@eduardopupucon If this story was in-universe science fiction, that would be alright. Even faster than light travel would be alright in science fiction because such a fictional universe doesn't need to obey "our" Theory of Relativity.
But the story is set in the real world. To reach Proxima Centauri in 100 years, they would have to travel consistently at c/25, or about 25000 km/s. That's way too higher than what we're capable of achieving _now_, never mind in the 1960s.
Granted that the characters involved in the "experiment" were not scientists, but surely at least some of them would have a little school science knowledge, and would be skeptical about the whole "research trip"?

51 years is two generations? Seems like the very upper bounds. It could also be three if you have a kid at 17.
Hi bro love your videos
1:33 Harris actually looks like Mulley with a different haircut
Why did you use a mission to Mars screenshot lol
My thoughts exactly...
If you could survive on a ship like this for decades then there would be no need to go to another planet. You just make the ship your home and expand it via minie astroids when needed.
Who's the man behind the slaughter?*it's probably that William Guy*
They don’t need to look outside in space the whole time?
Not really a whole lot to see with normal human eyes.
The soundtrack/score for Mission to Mars is amazing
The movie started well. Expected the Earth's technology to ascend to godhood and, when the supposed ship would arrive, for it to turn out that the humans, who stayed on Earth, got there first and the colony was already established and is thriving. Was disappointed with how weird they handled this version of the plot: one man would not have been able to do sht, because on a project like this there are tons of surveillance, protocols and strict rules.
I loved this show, so sad it didn’t continue
It was a mini series.
Mini Series aren't at the whim of cancelation
It was INTENDED to end that way
It wasn't a first season
Anything else would change the narrative
The scariest part about a murder happening in a isolated space... Has to be the instant realization that you cannot trust anyone. It's true that revenge doesn't solve anything because the first thing I would have thought of if I thought there was a murderer on my spaceship is to crash the spaceship.
among us
Why did they use a screen cap from Mission To Mars?
Why aren't more ppl noticing this?
I remember watching this and thinking it was great! Sad it never got a 2nd season
It was a Mini Series.
It was INTENDED to end that way
IT ENDED with a reveal that the project SUCCEEDED.
All that is left is to discuss the morality and if it was it worth it?
What else could they show?
Seeing more children with powers? Seeing Christa be captured or fighting? What is the point? What would it add to the story they WANTED to tell?
I agree I love his voice, he's funny as hell with his little add inns they make me lauph and he's also well read and his voice is relaxing And understanding, I only watch his now.
I want more! This show looked really good.
10:44 I always enjoy your small bits of humor amidst the 'plain' narration xD
So... Do they have other similations running that test ingenuity of humans to build, terraform and thrive in a barren hostile enviroment? Because this sounds all too easy to cheat themselves out of, if ever any supplies or parts run out, be sabotaged or just be a subject to wear and tear.
Well, at least Gold could breath wherever he was 😂
But where did the henchman go?
Even during a space mission
Ppl are divided into poor and rich
10:45 I cant, its too much to handle XD
I think it would take the ship to go at 26 million mph to do this
I’m gonna guess that they don’t turn back to earth, because 51 is exactly 1 year over 50, and they might say something like “It will take longer to turn back then go to the destination”. 4:28
The beginning of this movie reminded me of John F. Kennedy before his assassination, and this movie includes a futuristic spaceship project, even though it's year is 1963.
Project Orion ;-)
It's sad that there really wasn't any conclusion to this story. I wonder if the screenwriter even had an ending planned.

11:20 How does she dream of the twin towers when she's clearly less then 15 years old and the spaceship has been "in space" for the last 51 years? makes no sense to me. She would know that twin towers exist unless she has seen photos of them?
how did they not realize that the star have remained in the same position after living on the ship for half a century?
So in 51 years, they never had to send anyone out for external ship repair? Like wouldn't it be suspicious if people they send outside never come back?
