Next time, do a video on the thousands of people that died in western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee floods from Hurricane Helene please. Maybe they will get the exposure they need and the help they still need desperately.
I was in Cape Coral when Milton made landfall and my brother had to go out and be on patrol for the Sheriff's office. A tornado passed by where we were sheltering by less than a mile and my brother saw it directly beside him when he was out there. Thank God everyone was ok after that.
because when you need it, america will charge you for it. like a 99% profit for the government. most people don't have that kind of money for a tornado that may never directly hit you
I grew up in Cranford, a couple blocks from the Rahway River. We used to joke about getting flood days instead of snow days. Cranford is an old town. Most of the homes near the flood zones were built very sturdy. However, after that storm the town passed laws requiring homes to be on stilts just as you see along the Jersey shore.
Obviously there was a huge change in pressure, so I have to wonder if she had left the sliding doors open a bit, if they still would have collapsed inward.
The Tornados during Milton were absolutely terrifying. I was lucky and was about 20 miles from the closest one. Barricading in the closet for a tornado warning is one of the worst feelings ive had to experience.
I saw a semi get knocked over by a tornado on I-40 in Tennessee. This was back in the 1970’s, so no video. The driver emerged unscathed by climbing out the passenger side cab window. I felt my car slide a bit, but managed to stop and crouch on the floor in the back. The tornado continued south doing damage, but when I no longer heard it, I crawled out and it was gone. The Smithtown Library and lots of other places in the area are still in ruins. It’s an historical area that got hit, doing lots of destruction. Some roads along the shore of LI Sound and tidal areas are still closed. There are plans to reconstruct as much as possible and reroute a few roads that often flood in the rain. I live in Suffolk Co., but far from Smithtown area. In my area, there were a few cases of trees hitting houses. My neighborhood just got a good soaking and a few overflowed catch basins.
SWLA. Lived through several hurricanes in 23 years. Including Laura and 2 weeks later Delta. Our 23 year old roof made it through without losing one tile. Our 23 year old brick home never moved. Even with 90 mph winds. But the big city of Lake Charles didnt fair well and some are still fighting insurance companies Four years later.
Great video! The footage was pretty wild, especially that one with the tornado. But honestly, I think it’s interesting how we're always surprised by extreme weather; it’s like people forget climate change is making these events more common.
11:15 surprised the biker did not shield the bike in the visible corner between 2 walls instead if driving it further from the corner... I thought he was going to bring it home but no
I'm lucky I live in mostly safe location. We get lots of rain and storms. But the elevation and hilly terrain keeps tornadoes and floods at bay. I think only one major tornado ever hit here and it just fizzled out shortly after forming. Happened around 30 years ago.
16:44 The little Story of "The Villager And Irresistible Bridge and Trash Can that says "Nope": I always think we've urge/pull to experience these things regardless if it's smart or not: to experience an event first hand (and maybe last). But crossing the bridge was clearly not smart at all. Salam
That would only be a problem if they are inappropriate for the conditions. Lightweight structures are safer and more efficient in earthquake zones for example. But they need to be raised from the ground in zones with frequent flooding, and will be problematic where wind is an issue. It isn't about the material but it's aptness for the risk conditions and the cost benefit in the face of likely loss.

2:10 6 people didn't lose their lives. Their lives were taken. Their lives are not simply lost or someone could find them and bring those people back. 14:22 It was the first EF5 since 1976? So it's not anymore? Hopefully it was the last? Don't you mean hopefully it is the last?

Well the most important part was you were sheltered, safe, and most importantly, no one got hurt ❤
8:20 Not the books :(
Why aren't tornado shelters mandatory for each home in America's tornado alley
Probably because it would cost more and a basement would do.
It’s a huge global issue.
Good question??!!!

@@AlleyHughes-k6c it’s extremely rare.

As someone who lives south of LA and for Ida, I can confirm, It was like Milton, only if wind wasn't so strong.
The Tornados during Milton were absolutely terrifying. I was lucky and was about 20 miles from the closest one. Barricading in the closet for a tornado warning is one of the worst feelings ive had to experience.

Most flood affected places are built on flood plains about time the people, councils etc held accountable for giving the okay to build there

The camera is the face who would have a face camera
But probably the husband recording
3:21 the fact that the sliding door hits the TV and breaks the whole thing
My dad built the house I'm living in now. It's definitely not made of cardboard.

Oh my god😮😮😢
The flood in Waverly TN was caused by the government declining to clean out the river bed and a debris dam was created which caused the flood.
Those computers are dead 8:07
