I’ve been truck driver in the U.K. for over 20 years, I can no longer walk due to an accident that wasn’t my fault to which I never got paid for and I have PDSD due to seeing children literally being popped under lorry tyres…… and the worst part is the government turns its back on us us and just doesn’t give two shits!

I'm not saying that is BS, but I find it questionable that someone claiming to have PTSD from a truck driving accident would choose to watch a video with a thumbnail of a truck accident. 🤔

@@tripnick555 You may be misinformed on how PTSD works. There are different levels of PTSD. And everyone deals with it differently. There are different tactics professionally taught to deal with it too. Some choose to hit the trauma head on to make less impact on their emotions. Use your brain. Not everything is on the surface.... That's like telling a soldier they never experienced what they claimed happened because they choose to talk about it.
On the other side of this, using an entertainment platform to elicit pity from people or to incite more anger over a government's actions is probably not the best choice either @BrianPseivaD.
Watching videos while reading and making lighthearted comments. That's what gets us through our days and fills our dopamine buckets just a little bit..

21:33 Honda Elements are built like tanks. They also lack the traditional A pillar that is between the front and back doors of a normal vehicle. (The back door opens with a hinge from the back, this is commonly called a suicide door setup) Anyway their roofs are unusually reinforced and sturdy to compensate from this lack of an A pillar, and they are about as crush proof as you can get.
A normal car having a heavy semi fall on it could easily have crushed the passengers.
Too bad they don't make Elements anymore, but they get top dollar on the used market.

I live in Scotland, we haven't had a bad winter where I live probably for 10 years. When we did get bad snows and ice, the one thing I learned was not to try and pull away in 1st gear, but to used 2nd instead, works wonders. Obviously I'm talking about a car with manual gears, not too sure about an automatic.

Yes that’s an interesting point Yak, I watched a school run mum struggle to get her Tesla out of a slightly snowy parking spot last winter because she was unable to “ gently feather the throttle in second gear” to get traction. ( EVs are full-on immediately). Consequently I think the next couple of decades are going to be pretty interesting ha ha!

    • @ziploc2000
      @ziploc2000 23 дня назад +3

@@philtucker1224 EVs are not "full-on" immediately, I don't know what would make you think that. They lack a gearbox, but that doesn't mean an experienced driver couldn't feather the throttle.

I remember seeing news coverage and these clips when the Vietnam bridge collapse happened.
At the 6:10 mark, next to the truck, you can see a motorbike in the on-coming lane. You see the bike fall at the same time as the truck when the bridge collapses.
While it was mentioned in the video that some people were rescued quickly, that person wasn't directly mentioned.
He was one of the people immediately rescued, but there is footage/ photos that wasn't shown in this video, of the underside of the broken part of the road where the support pylons were still intact, and where he luckily landed with his bike instead of falling into the water. He was very lucky, as the water level was still very close to where he landed!

9:45 - Disagree with "ice driving comes down to driver capability." It comes down to what's touching the road -- your tires. You can help or hurt quite a bit, but but no amount of expertise can make up for bad tires.
To wit, I experienced a nearly identical situation to this video when I was a teenager. My family had just got snow tires for the season when a snow storm hit and froze over the mountain road we had to drive on. We went right up the mountain like it was a warm summer day, passing several people who were spinning and sliding backwards. The SUV in this video wasn't doing anything wrong before they lost grip. They just had crappy tires that couldn't get purchase on the road, whereas our cammer probably had nice, fresh snow tires.
It's genuinely amazing how much difference having dedicated winter tires makes. Like night and day -- or, better stated, like driving down the road or sliding off of it.

NO!! Don’t use your brakes on ice! Just stay calm, and take your foot off of the accelerator. Always turn into the skid, and try to go into a shallow ditch or a small snow bank to stop you. If you’re about to hit a bunch of cars, you can lightly tap them, but won’t do any good. Always stay far behind on ice and look way ahead so you can see any obstacles or accidents. Always be calm.

Poor, POOR Himachal Pradesh! They are always being knocked from pillar to bedpost. Sooner than later, the concerned Indian Legislatures and Executive Bodies, will no longer be able to justify expenditures to bail them out. The Citizens of that State will have to abandon it, as they're running out of vital terrain to sustain livelihoods. The only value remaining, will be the barest of bones, in terms of infrastructure essential to India's security and defense.

The only good thing about that is that they were close to one side instead of the middle. Might be one of the 3 to survive (I realize this has such a low chance, but it is true)

I never see much on them so I think they’re pretty rare in my experience. Santa Barbara CA microburst and Angleton TX microburst were the one’s I personally experienced.

12:27 the smoke ring is the coolest shit ever because what are the actual odds that could happen? As an ex vaper, its kinda tricky to do it good enough to keep the ring shape and that was massive and had to deal with air, very amazing to see.
