- Saint Martin pier runners try to catch the ship before it leaves them! March 29th 2023. Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas and Carnival Spirit. The last runner is my favorite! He was clearly enjoying all the shouts from the crowd!

I prefer the videos where people miss the boat.
I sometimes ponder, do they PAY actors to do "Pier Runs", because if they don't..they don't need to. It's part of the CRUISE SHIP Experience! You save up & spend your 💰 Money.Worth every penny to watch people left in a Foreign Country!
I find it, although In my mind undeserved.. very refreshing how hard,kind & generous Port Security & Ship Staff work & TRY their best to help people. They actually DO try their best to help idiot people who don't understand SHIP TIME. I'm not sure if PORT SECURITY is trying to help? Or just don't want us dropping off people they don't want in their Country🤔

I love pier runners because these are the people who truly feel entitled to hold up the ship. They are lucky I’ve been on a ship were several people were left.

We were just on a cruise, this group of people were 15 mins late and kept taking pictures on the dock, i think they should of left them. The horn was honking and they just ignored it.

We were there in February and people on the Vision of the Seas clapped for late runners. We watched from our balcony on the Sky Princess.
I think the cruise lines should hire some locals to purposefully come running and not make it ... add more drama to it all 🤣🤣

The entitlement of the late people. Right!!!
You'd think they would have bikes at the entrance to these piers for latecomers to use. Then the pier staff can return them to the starting point after use. Charging each person's cruise account a tenner or two for the use of, to help pay for the bikes.
My thoughts too. Simple solution.
or even better, have a golf cart type vehicle to taxi these folks to the gangway quicker. Still charge them for it though.

The ship registry knows who is late and holds up the ship for selfish reasons. If they start charging late comers a fine the pier runners will do better. Why should I have to wait for you for 15 - 30 minutes or sometimes longer when departure time is posted at the gangway and you are told to keep your time piece on ship time. Have fun in port but be courteous of others and be on time,
Why are you "waiting" for them? It's not like you're in a hurry to get anywhere, just go find something productive or fun to do on the ship.
@@rogersmith7808 There is a whole ship of people who had the courtesy to be on time "waiting" for them plus it causes the ship extra money when the ship is off schedule. Eventually cost will be passed on to all cruisers. It's not about me personally. .
If you can't follow the rules then don't leave the ship !

I love when the ones who were late at least TRY to make it, by running . I can't stand the ones who only run until they see the gate hasn't been taken up and then start casually walking to the ship .

That's why I (mostly) go on Cruise sponsored tours. They will wait. If you go on your own...you're on your own..Set a timer on your phone to be back early
You don't have to worry about 'THE time'.
I would tip the staff well to leave them behind.

There are accessible excursions you can book through the cruise line! Guaranteed return to the ship on time.
I can't walk too well, I would stay on the boat. The activities on the boat is what I'm interested in

Last guy was enjoyable. If you're late, you can at least fo us the courtesy of running and pretending you dont want to put people out.

I'm starting to wonder if people are late on purpose, because they know in most instances the ship will wait for them.
Sadly, ships don't wait for people. Unless the delay is weather, medical or mechanical, they wait for no one.
Or a cruise line sponsored late excursion.

I have little sympathy for pier runners; it isn't like the time due back isn't posted everywhere.
Always book excursions thought the cruise line. They will not leave you. They will wait.
Some of them end with plenty of time to spare, enough that people are probably going to try to squeeze something else in.
Some of the ones that end early also drop you off significantly further away than they picked you up, but still a fairly reasonable walking distance.
Yup! My last cruise I was on a ship booked excursion. 3 buses went out, and all 3 were late. Mine was 45 minutes late. Luckily the buses were able to drop us off pretty close to the ship.
I was on a cruise where an excursion got back late, so the ship was waiting for them. About 45 minutes late, this severely intoxicated lady came stumbling back, losing her shoes and everything. She was lucky the ship was waiting on the excursion because she could have easily been left behind (and soon afterwards, a couple of trolleys pulled up to the pier with a bunch of people, so they didn't have to run all the way back).

In every video I see golf cart like vehicles sitting idle on the pier. Why not charge the late ones $100 fee for a ride?

Such judgmental comments. I'm sure no one is deliberately late. We all make mistakes and/or have bad luck.
That’s not always true. On one cruise the same two people were back late at EVERY PORT..it was soooo irritating. Once may be an accident, but every port? I don’t think so.
Cruiselines should give at least an hour extra time to allow latecomers time to get back.
Why? That just makes the problem worse.

Wow really so should planes wait the same amount of time to allow latecomers to board or how about the doctor’s office oh wait they already make you wait and charge you or cancel your appointment. People need to learn what time management means and accountability when the ship pulls off. The cruise lines are charged when they are still at the ports beyond their time which could lead to heavens forbid them charging the passengers for these late comers not on a cruise purchased excursion.
DON’T BE LATE! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE??? YOU ARE BEING RUDE AND THOUGHTLESS TO OTHER PASSENGERS AND THE SHIP WHICH HAS A SCHEDULE TO KEEP OR THEY LOSE MONEY. THE RUDE LATE PEOPLE SHOULD BE FINED!
