2023 Pier Runners | St Martin | Royal Caribbean Jewel and Carnival Spirit | Will they make it?
Saint Martin pier runners try to catch the ship before it leaves them! March 29th 2023. Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas and Carnival Spirit. The last runner is my favorite! He was clearly enjoying all the shouts from the crowd!

That's why I (mostly) go on Cruise sponsored tours. They will wait. If you go on your own...you're on your own..Set a timer on your phone to be back early You don't have to worry about 'THE time'.

I love it when those people get left behind they clearly know they are late if they are running and no regard to the rest of the ship its just all about them
I was on a cruise where an excursion got back late, so the ship was waiting for them. About 45 minutes late, this severely intoxicated lady came stumbling back, losing her shoes and everything. She was lucky the ship was waiting on the excursion because she could have easily been left behind (and soon afterwards, a couple of trolleys pulled up to the pier with a bunch of people, so they didn't have to run all the way back).
Judging by the screams, the liner must have had a lot of monkeys on board.
If you're overweight and still running.... then bravo, standing ovation

You'd think they would have bikes at the entrance to these piers for latecomers to use. Then the pier staff can return them to the starting point after use. Charging each person's cruise account a tenner or two for the use of, to help pay for the bikes.
My thoughts too. Simple solution.
or even better, have a golf cart type vehicle to taxi these folks to the gangway quicker. Still charge them for it though.

I love when the ones who were late at least TRY to make it, by running . I can't stand the ones who only run until they see the gate hasn't been taken up and then start casually walking to the ship .
That's my fear 😨 being lift behind.

Such judgmental comments. I'm sure no one is deliberately late. We all make mistakes and/or have bad luck.
That’s not always true. On one cruise the same two people were back late at EVERY PORT..it was soooo irritating. Once may be an accident, but every port? I don’t think so.
I have little sympathy for pier runners; it isn't like the time due back isn't posted everywhere.

In every video I see golf cart like vehicles sitting idle on the pier. Why not charge the late ones $100 fee for a ride?

Always book excursions thought the cruise line. They will not leave you. They will wait.
Some of them end with plenty of time to spare, enough that people are probably going to try to squeeze something else in. Some of the ones that end early also drop you off significantly further away than they picked you up, but still a fairly reasonable walking distance.
Yup! My last cruise I was on a ship booked excursion. 3 buses went out, and all 3 were late. Mine was 45 minutes late. Luckily the buses were able to drop us off pretty close to the ship.

Ya'll....that is the MOST they have ever ran in their lives 😅😅😅 i feel so bad, its not always them being reckless, their tour couldve gotten stuck in traffic. Last guy was enjoyable. If you're late, you can at least fo us the courtesy of running and pretending you dont want to put people out.

We were there in February and people on the Vision of the Seas clapped for late runners. We watched from our balcony on the Sky Princess.

There are accessible excursions you can book through the cruise line! Guaranteed return to the ship on time.
I can't walk too well, I would stay on the boat. The activities on the boat is what I'm interested in

Cruiselines should give at least an hour extra time to allow latecomers time to get back.
Why? That just makes the problem worse.

No. People should learn to be punctual
Wow really so should planes wait the same amount of time to allow latecomers to board or how about the doctor’s office oh wait they already make you wait and charge you or cancel your appointment. People need to learn what time management means and accountability when the ship pulls off. The cruise lines are charged when they are still at the ports beyond their time which could lead to heavens forbid them charging the passengers for these late comers not on a cruise purchased excursion.
DON’T BE LATE! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE??? YOU ARE BEING RUDE AND THOUGHTLESS TO OTHER PASSENGERS AND THE SHIP WHICH HAS A SCHEDULE TO KEEP OR THEY LOSE MONEY. THE RUDE LATE PEOPLE SHOULD BE FINED!
