    Pretty cool build Tim. What a great way to use the sawhorses instead of just to make them flat by adding the extra top with the clamp parts.

    The interchangeable tops are a brilliant idea, especially the "roller" one for chopsaw outfeed.
    Add one with v-blocks for supporting round stock for cutting maybe. The ideas could go on and on.

    I have an idea for the 2.0 version. Mount a little bubble level on the side that way you can ensure the top of the saw horse is level even if the ground isn't. Seems like their could be a little adjust-ability to each side. I may try to make some of these!

    • @timsway
      @timsway  6 лет назад +1

      If you do exactly the same procedure with the tap and screws on the top as I did on the bottom you can make this without welding. that would actually be a better way as you could completely disassemble the entire saw horse, if needed.

    • @fbiker79
      @fbiker79 6 лет назад

      tim sway I get it. Thank you for the suggestion. The truth is that I know how I would “fix” it or modify it so that it is not welded. I don´t recall if you mentioned that but: 1) how tall are the saw horses and how tall can be extended? 2) How much weight can they resist? The idea is great for what I commonly work. Some furniture restoration like sofas and similar heavy furniture. 3) can be designed and will work also with foldable saw horses?

    • @timsway
      @timsway  7 месяцев назад +1

      They can be as tall or as short as you wanna make them, but the height adjustment is directly related to the main height as the pipe clamps, so the taller they are, the more variable they can be. You could absolutely engineer them to fold, too

    Talk about building the better mousetrap , This takes saw horses from being a troublesome dust collector to a luxury tool for the shop and worksite , With plenty of room to modify the idea to increase usefulness and productivity. Next maybe you could build a small robot to move them around the shop and bring you a tall cold one at the end of the day .😁

    • @timsway
      @timsway  5 лет назад

      been a while since I made this (and it's a prototype, like everything I make) so I don't have answers fresh from memory, but the best I recall the pipe was already threaded and the screws fit the holes :)

  • @JohnMadeit
    @JohnMadeit 6 лет назад +1

    I think this might actually be the ultimate saw horse. Not what I was expecting when I saw the thumbnail... If the foot realise was more of a v shape so your foot went more to the center, would that help release the clamps (the clamps would get a even pressure)? The changeable top is also genius idea..

    • @timsway
      @timsway  6 лет назад

      John Made it the pressure is pretty even as is, it's all rigid enough. There's just a little slop in the clamps so it can go crooked when you are pulling it up and down. Better clamps would yield a better result. Thanks!!

    • @JohnMadeit
      @JohnMadeit 6 лет назад
