Chun chan was a good servant to yanwan, she never once complain or held a grudge towards Yanwan despite them coming from the same backgrounds as servants. I can imagine the betrayal. Chun chan would have never betrayed her because they came a long way back but she tried to kill her.

I never cared for Chunchan but I guess she had to obey her mistress. Ling putting that lipstick on her was one of the most pitiful scenes for me. Something about how innocent she looked, not knowing the woman she lied for, even at the threat of death, would do her like that.

Hailan took Ruyi's words to heart, that she had to become strong without Ruyi's protection. The concubines made a fatal error by forcing Hailan to show her teeth. The women also underestimated how extremely intelligent both Hailan and Ruyi actually were. They may have had an inkling as they feared the day Ruyi was released from the Cold palace. Had they been of a mind to scheme for the Emperor's favor, it would have been utter chaos and the concubines wouldn't have seen death until it was sitting down to tea.
Even with multiple witnesses against her, Yawan still declares her innocence. She was portrayed as a true psychopath. Incapable of love. She didn't value any life other than her own. Even her children were nothing more than tools to be used by her to reach her goal of becoming empress.

Consort Hu needed Chunchan preserved because she is Imperial Noble Consort's senior attendant, therefore knows her innermost thoughts and dealings. She would be very useful when they take down the Imperial Noble Consort.
Chunchan would have taken those secrets to her grave, she was so gay for her mistress. Wei Yanwan's one mistake was thinking everyone was a deviant sociopath incapable of love. I think the actress that plays her is brilliant... but so is the entire cast. 💛💯
Lancui died off screen along with the Mongolian consort yu after they tried to frame Ruyi with ling Yunche boots.. lancui was in charge of that frame and when it failed ling left her in prison but had wangchan kill her so she wouldn’t talk
Maids have to keep shut to save their jobs. She did what she was told. It was as such only a part of a work was done by one person. Such as poisonous mushroom, someone got them , next person, third sent to kitchen , next person cooked ,. Someone else gave it 12 prince ruyi son. So only master knew what was happening. Maid who was very long by her side and repeatedly doing some chores, their realises purpose of such chores. She was not an accomplice in ling planning . They only cant open their mouth or leave. They either serve or die.
This! Chunchan wasn’t any better than yanwan. She even had one or two scheming ideas of her own. Had yanwan not betrayed her she would’ve happily continued on harming others. I sincerely hoped it was her turn to get her retribution after yanwan’s death.
I mean actually she became empress when she was dead (when his son took the throne, he named him dead mom the empress) and but that time the few surviving princes were mostly yan wan child, even 12th Prince passed away shortly after his mom passed away

Always had a feeling that Chun Chan Knew What was Bound to Happen The Min Yanwan Offered to Put Lip Tint On her. Her Face Said it All. It’s Very Sad to Be Betrayed like this. If Yanwan Was very smart about this, she probably would’ve gotten away with it if she just didn’t try to kill her most loyal maid. A maid who knows everything about everything that includes her. It wasn’t a smart move. But she deserves everything she got. I just wish the emperor; who clearly aint shit would’ve gotten his too. I understand he’s all depressed after Ruyi died but I honestly don’t think it’s enough. ESPECIALLY with all the kind loyal loving women who truly were good and did nothing but love him. Knowing that in real life the harem was disgusting in terms of personal hygiene but actually less of a scheming cess pool is kind of ironic. Everybody wanted favour, yes, but they were also trained to obey the Emperor and Empress implicitly and only the real-life 'Ruyi' was disobedient to the point of cutting her hair. In truth people were killed at the wave of the Emperor's finger so staying alive long enough to have children was the focus. Those hairstyles stayed in for months at a time, people rarely washed and often didn't change their underwear for a long time either. People's kids dropped dead in the street at young ages and it was also impossible to prevent sweeping numbers of deaths from waterborne diseases. So everyone kind of focused on staying alive any way they could!
Oh I don't know reading through history there was an empress that poisoned all the sons of the emperor the only reason he had an heir was due to a lowly concubine paying a servant to take the child out of the palace and say it was stillborn .

Hailan making moves on her own without ruyi is the best character development. She was weak at first but now she's a savage.
