they signed a 99 year lease a year before kmart said they were done there, thats why its still there. it screwed up the plans for the area but i doubt the people that own it ever had a plan.
Thank you for posting. I frequently was here for arcade games and phantom of the attic festivities in the 90s. So many memories. Remember the first Street Fighter 2, Mortal Komat lines, winner stays on.
I loved this place as a kid. Not the biggest, but definitely one of the warmest... Just something about it. Thanks for jumping in. Haven't seen the first floor in a decade!
It makes me sad to see this mall like this. So many of my memories growing up are there. club zoo (which is on the bottom flooded floor) and get a shirt a foxmoore before the club. Going to the food court, looking at the pets in the petstore. My boyfriend worked at the kmart(which is in this video..i think.) for years. It bothers me tht it looks so horrible.
Yeah man its always hard to see places that you used to cherish in this condition. Ill definitely post more though expect another video of it some time this week
A movie was actually filmed here before they closed called Hollywood and Wine. I got to be an extra in it, and that was the last time I was ever there. I think the room in the last part of this video was made to look like a casino in one scene, and I remember a concert-looking scene being filmed in the Dino Kingdom.
Some narration as to where you were entering and in which direction you were looking would have been helpful. Even more footage of the store signs (I only saw the arcade sign) would help. Without that, it just looks like trashed space. Thank you for sharing though.
Oh wow I can't believe you got in! :) Nice work. I read that the mall was built on a bad foundation that led to cracks in the floor and water issues. So It's pretty crazy to see that it hasn't been left abandonded too long, yet it's covered in mold. If you go into the Giant Eagle grocery store that's still connected to it, it reeks of mold! Great video :)
Thanks man, and I have a lot more footage probably enough for 2 more videos but club zone? hm I don't think so, there was construction in parts and I didn't mess around there maybe it was in that area.
You should definitely post those. I know there are a lot of other that would definitely appreciate those too. haha Club Zoo was at the opposite end of the mall from the food court. If you pass those escalators that were piled with garbage, then it would be the warehouse looking door on the right, just before you reach the main doors that would have led you out into the Giant Eagle parking lot.
+Rob McAleer Alright man keep an out, ill post another video of this place sometime this week. Aahh that would explain why I didn't see it. They're doing some sort of construction on that part of the mall. im really unsure what they're doing but I sure hope they're not demolishing it.
I haven't been there since I was a kid I'm trying to remember what it looked like on the first floor.... was that the cafeteria in the beginning? And was club zoo next to space center amusements? Thanks not sure if my memory is correct lol.
Club zoo was by the Giant Eagle (which is still there), and the Food Court was on the far end.. It's a shame this place closed. It was THE place to go when I was younger.
it had to come down. it was built on an old trash dump site and it was sinking. where phar mor was, it had dropped down 16 inches in that little tunnel.
ummmmmmm did you guys get nasty black mold infections????? wear respirators, dont wear your clothes you wore inside the building in your car or house........
i remember going there when i was young and there was a night club there called peters wild life and i goyt into a fight with one of the boncers there and he punched me for no reason then i sued that bar so i want to thank peters wild life owners for the 2 million thank you so much every glass i raise is for you thats the reason you got closed down ha ha ha
....No. It's probably half the size. I went back down there 2 years ago (I'm from upstate NY) and stayed at the new Holiday inn which is on the mall grounds and there was a new sports bar there....And I can't believe that supermarket is still open in the back....
The Giant Eagle That Would Not Die is still there and still open!
That Giant Eagle looks very outdated and very dead.
they signed a 99 year lease a year before kmart said they were done there, thats why its still there. it screwed up the plans for the area but i doubt the people that own it ever had a plan.
Any relation to Mike Volk?

Had a lot of great times At Mr Pockets.

I’m originally from Altoona, PA and remember visiting here once in 2007-08 and about 10 stores remaining. How sad.

I know how you feel. I am younger but I still have a few memories of being here as a kid, and yes, this was very sad.
Had Many teenage date nights here at the pool hall pub.
Awesome but sad video. That place was part of my childhood. Please do post more, I'd like to see it for sure.

Thank you! Getting in wasn't easy I can assure you that but I've heard the same stuff too about bad water pipes and such.
i remember that place, i live down the street and i had a lot of good memories
how did you get in there, I was there 5 or 6 times and I could not find a way in.
Thanks for sharing. I loved this place.
WOW! That Mall is scary! Amazing video! :)
Thank you man!
Pretty neat find sucks it's so dark inside
This is awesome. I'd love to get in there if I didn't live so far away now. Do you have any more footage? Were you able to get into the old club zoo?
Thanks man, and I have a lot more footage probably enough for 2 more videos but club zone? hm I don't think so, there was construction in parts and I didn't mess around there maybe it was in that area.

My childhood dentist (Dr. Rudolph) was here. It was crazy when my mom told me that he killed his wife.
Cool video dan bell needs to go here!
Thanks man, sadly no one's going to get to experience this place again though. It was demolished
OUCH! well it's good that you documented it.

3 years is all it took for this place to half turn to Rolling Acres... I get why they demolished it now.
it had to come down. it was built on an old trash dump site and it was sinking. where phar mor was, it had dropped down 16 inches in that little tunnel.
Could have been used to film scenes for The Walking Dead - but now it's gone.....
Is this the Parkway Center Mall in Pittsburgh?
