  • Here is our series of Crochet for Beginners videos.
In this episode I will show you how to double crochet into a magic circle. A magic circle is also called a magic ring - they are just the same.
Crocheting into a magic circle is a popular method used for making toys or granny squares or even crocheting easter eggs - check out my free pattern!
Double crochet is also abbreviated in patterns to dc or DC.
I have made a collection of videos that will help get you started with crocheting in the round. In my head there are 2 types of crochet, the flat type where you make a blanket or scarf, then you have the other type that makes circles, they both use the same stitches, but I normally teach them as 2 separate classes in real life, hence we have a collection of videos here for helping you crochet in the round, if you watch them all and practice, Im confident you will be a able to crochet.

Is this a hdc or a DC Im confused... As all the DC I have watched you wrap the yarn over the hook before you insert it into the hole.... Am I wrong? Not sure thank you

It’s a Single crochet, DC you start with yarn over, insert hook into magic circle, yarn over, pull it back to the magic circle and bring it up(to create 3 loops), then yarn over, pull through first two loops, then yarn over, pull through two.

This would be called a single crochet in the US. The UK calls it a double.

So can i just check.....you don't do a slip stitch to secure this round? The sunburst bag ask for a slip stitch at the end of the round. Do you have a video specifically for this pattern?
