  • It’s business as usual in the garage this week. We’re back at work on the Catalog Camaro and really diggin’ into the front end. You know what they say, “out with the old and in with the new,” and that’s exactly what Stacey’s doing. The old sub frame, drivetrain, and suspension are hitting the garage floor in favor of a much-needed updated suspension system that’ll keep this awesome Camaro hugging the road at high speeds-From the wheels to the sub frame, Stacey’s replacing it all. And he’s not going to break the bank while doing it, either. Follow the GearZ crew as they hit the road and visit Cornwell Tools to see their latest and greatest tool box being manufactured. From powder coat to knuckle bustin’ bolts, we’ve got you covered on GearZ.

    Problem with this show is there is 20 minutes of advertising and ten minutes of fabrication.

    I love the changing out of the front end sheet metal! Like to see the rear changed too. I can also see redoing the engine while the front end is off. But why go full on unlimited pocket book and change out the whole front A-Frame. Most of us do not have the money to do something like that or maybe it is just me. I can understand replacing all steering components (ball joints, tie rod ends, & etc), bushing, and such while the front is apart and put in some handling components but what you are doing is far outside a normal budget. Considering this is suppose to be a poor mans split grill..................I love all your work.

      I also would've added a subframe connector to the Camaro to stiffen up the body a bit

      Yeah, almost no one could do that these days. He'll, just getting the car would break the bank for most people.

  • @fredmaxwell9619
    @fredmaxwell9619 5 лет назад +2

    I know I made other comments but here is another but when this project started you also said because the real split grills are hard to find and cost far outside most peoples budget or at lease along those lines.
    Putting in that real fancy front Sub-Frame and Engine is great and you can do that in the project BUT can't you also show us dust bunny pocket people how we could rebuild the old front end using those same catalogs and great after market parts while maintaining a much more friendly budget. Same with the engine. I image that engine you got would cost 15K or so, not budget friendly. You could get a Performer RPM package (435 HP top end) for a 350 from Edelbrock for 3.3K.

    Had to file our new powder coating. Giving rust a starting point. Why wasn’t the holes made big enough in the first place, so even with the powder coating the bushings would fit in place. He should have enlarged the holes before the powder coating or the subframe mfr should have made them bigger in the first place.

    This episode aired in July of 2017. Its been over a year and they still haven't got back to it, but there has been videos on other vehicles. I really want to like this show but this one as well as others have too much jumping around between projects. Obviously I don't know if these things are being funded privately so work only gets done and filmed when the owner forks out cash or what not, but now days a lot of these gear head style shows give you like a 5-10 minute montage of work, then the rest of the show is trying to pitch products or universities and then commercials.

    • @UpperDarbyDetailing
      @UpperDarbyDetailing Год назад

      They've always jumped around like that. Many projects have just disappeared without explanation, even years later. Sometimes there's a good reason, like it's in the paint shop, waiting on sponsors to buy or donate stuff, etc, but who knows when they never say anything about it?

      No the fenders bolt up. Keep in mind the rear facia taillights and back window are also different on the early cars. But from the front, it'll look like a 70 to 73.

      @John Wymer I've got a '72 RS/SS, 350/350 with original Z-28 wheels I had powdercoated. 105k miles, but it's covered on other side of garage. Could be driven but needs a resto. No rust anywhere, CA car. Bought from original owner when he was 55. Any idea what it's worth?? Thx

    Dude I like the idea of changing the sheet metal out to another year model Camaro but with all the up grades your doing all your doing is building another rich man's Camaro. When the Camaro was known to be the poor man's sports car.. You really need to keep your build projects more down to earth.

    I've always hated it when they put a 70-73 RS nose on the newer Camaros. If you like the 70-73 RS (like I do) buy one, don't fake it. It looks foolish with the newer tail lights and rear window.

    Out of a 22 minute video,only 8:35 shows actual work on the project car. The rest is all plugging products and tools the avg gearhead can't even afford. I know you need to pay the bills with a little advertising but,isn't that why the have commercials??? Cmon guys,get your shit together and get this thing finished already..........or at least arrange it so you stop jumping from project to project and start showing more work than product.

      Do they really? How so? I wouldn't know because we don't have a Cornwell franchisee in my region. We haven't for 20+years. I know because I talked to a NAPA auto parts representative in my area and that's what they told me. I also have no idea where they are price wise compared to Snap-on, Mac, Matco, SK, or Carlyle. I'm curious to know how they are quality wise.
