    The balance changes are surprisingly spot on. The SMGs in particular are in better spot compared to the gatlings, a bit weaker but a lot lighter and extremely low EN. I definitely agree bosses need to be much further away for ARs to ricochet.

      @@johannilsson6395 Honestly, I don't find the stagger of the smaller handguns to be an issue, simply because their rate of fire allows you to dump the mag into them and get the stagger up quick. The issue is definitely the ammo capacity. Both pistols need way more reserve ammo, and I feel like the larger pistol should have a 9rd magazine instead of a 7.

    every kinetic weapon that isnt a shotgun deserves +30m ideal range no strings attached.

      Yup, right now my biggest criticism with weapon balance in this game is the impossibly short distances between shotgun/SMG range and 'long range rifle' range. Shotguns need to be sub-100m, SMGs out to 150, burst rifles/AR's out to 200, and the marksman/semi-auto rifles out to 225+ before ricochet. With weapons and their current 'effective' and 'shots won't ricochet' ranges, if you're not using missiles or explicitly long range gear, you're putting yourself into Zimmerman/Gatling range.

      ye, buff submachines to 140-150, assault rifles to 190-200, and the linear rifles to 250-260 (so it's somewhat worth taking the sniper FCS)

      More like triple or quadruple. The range in this game is pathetic compared to the old ones. All these worthless 'medium' range weapons do nothing beyond 200m so it's little wonder everyone just puts on zimmerman instead. Gain 1 quickboost worth of extra range at the cost of all your damage and stun.

    Assault rifles are underpowered to the nth degree. I tried to make a dual rifle build to emulate White Glint, but the dual zimmermans and missile boats remind me that no matter how much I enjoy Fromsoft games, they attract games journalists.

      Did you used Ransetsu Ar or Rf?
      Because Rf is the good Assault Rifle
      Harris is also really good

      I also used assault rifles early on, but ditched them after I realised how lacking there were against anything but MTS. Might have to try again after the patch.

      You should try the coral shield with coral generators, it basically counters zimmerman builds

      Turner was pretty good. It's just not good to dual wield them. Need to pair it with something like a pulse blade, machine gun, missiles, or shot gun.

    The thing is AR's in this game are not designed to be primary stagger weapons (except Ransetsu RF), AR's in this game are designed to maintain and keep _pressure_ on an enemy combatant. To keep stagger at a certain level while adding consistent stagger and damage per second to prevent the bar from reducing fast. It can also cause the enemy to engage in a "panic dodge" every now and then to open them up to larger weapons fire.
    Post patch people will get them.
    The new MGs are also beasts at close range.
    When the Zimzams nerf happens you're gonna see a lot of people suddenly start floundering at this game.

      The biggest issue the ARs used to have was that abysmal reload speed. The combination of raw damage and reload has boosted their DPM significantly, so real happy with that! (if only they could buff kinetic projectile ideal range by like 20% overall i would be fully satisfied)

      This point completely falls apart with the laser rifles and laser pistols and makes literally no sense. You can spam those fucking things like there is no tomorrow with better stagger AND damage output. There is such a lopsided favoritism towards energy and laser weaponry just being flat out better in every ery single circumstance it's just kind of mind blowing.

      The main draw of zimmermans is the ridiculous stagger, the laser shotgun is already better for everything else. Shotguns in general are overpowered compared to every other weapon. its just that most other "longer range" guns are weak.

    To be honest after messing around with it I think this video still applies. I don't think the patch does enough to help. I still need to mess around a bit more, but the range issue especially still needs to be addressed and also just don't think the impact is there in a game where zims exist

      I just fought the exploration depth 2 boss, the Giant AI robot guy, and the range ricochet was definitely an issue still. Some of the weapons feel better, like the machine guns. But AR's are still nowhere near where they need to be

    yeah the non burst ransetsus are solid pre patch
    they do pretty good w a few select back weps to be absolutely annoying w certain builds ive seen and they do decent in pve
    gotta check patch notes see if they got changed cuz ive enjoyed those

    Richocet is definitely the bane of rifles. It really kills their utility in PvP. In PvE though, rifles are awesome. I used them in every build until the Sea Spider.

    I really hope at the Harris gets touched up in the next patch. It feels like if you have it as the core weapon with your other three slots as the support for stagger buildup and it's a fantastic direct damage punished, but if it isn't the core weapon it can't be the support weapon and that I find frustrating.

    Before the buff, id argue the Ransetsu Ar and Burst Handgun are MUCH worse than the starter Rifle
    After the buff.... i still think they suck but still better than starter because at least Ar has Projectile buff
    But if you want to play Rifles, just use Ransetsu Rf and Harris they are super good

      Ran-RF was good before patch, even better now.

    The patch notes explicitly stated that this patch was for single player and that pvp balance updates will release at a late date, so your criticism about pvp is completely misplaced since they already promised it's coming.

    I had someone tell me that the Assault Rifles are currently "fine" between laser weapons and their kinetic counter parts under another patch video. I wish I was joking. The ballistic weapons in this game outside of the missiles are so laughably and hilariously bad it just makes literally no sense lmfao. Even after the patch, they are still out classed in every single possible way by laser and energy weapons to a point it really makes me wonder if they had two separate Dev teams handle balancing weapons because the lobsided balance towards energy related things is just so fucking weird.

    The big issue is that FCS have gotten worse in new generation for some reason. In classic AC games if you stayed locked on long enough to achieve a hard lock your FCS would calculate the accurate spot to aim at to hit your target *when the bullet got there* assuming that it kept moving the same. In 5, you always fired directly at your opponent but bullet speed was much faster so it was fine. Now bullet speed is classic levels, but your FCS is still firing directly at targets who arent there by the time the bullet arrives. Grenades, bazookas, and other slow moving projectiles feel this the worst but every weapon gets it somewhat, and its why anything beyond close range combat feels like a crap shoot.

      This is sort of false. Your mech is leading the target for gunshots in AC6. Look closely at around 2:45. The bullet is shot leading the training AC. The reticle we see is not where the gun is aiming but the predicted impact point. it's just that the shot misses due to the slow travel time and the enemy changing speed and direction by the time it gets there.
      Missiles in AC6 seems to use the pure pursuit algorithm for tracking though, I can't see any leading behavior from them. Which might be a design choice, or everyone is gonna have a very rough time dodging them.

      @@yuri4046 There does seem to be some amount but its inconsistent and not effective, likely partially due to how often we can change our speeds in this one. Its not updating fast enough, especially when considering that most guns have a small delay before firing to allow for the pizza hut warning symbols. It seems like the trajectory is being calculated when we press the fire button rather than when we actually fire, so only a consistent speed and arc during the entire firing animation and travel time result in accurate prediction.
      This of course isnt helped by the slow travel time either.

      We do have a sort of prepare weapon to fire animation, i think that allows for the warning to show. What's happening here likely is that they calculate the correct firing solution the moment you click/pull trigger, then introduce an error based on your FCS stat, aim the gun at that point, finish aiming and a projectile comes out.
      Iirc, even in manual aim mode, what we're controlling is still just the targeting reticle, if the game scans that your reticle is on an enemy, it'll calculate a firing solution with 0 FCS error and shoot, rather than manual aiming being you aiming by the barrel of the gun.

    Assault rifles got me through Balteus, sea spider and cleaner lol. I just find them great weapons to get stuck in.

    While I agree with the range problem (we need more longer range options), I think we can also look at this from the perspective that other weapons cause too much stagger damage. Maybe going into that direction would be better (only large explosion weapons and big melee weapons doing big stagger damage, and maybe some specialized weapons).

    I duel wielded the Scudders with kinetic weapon damage maxed out and that honestly carried me through the whole game. Not sure how viable it would be in pvp though but its really good at close range and the new patch made them even better

      Unfortunately PVE is not a good metric for a weapon. There are builds that are much stronger or do better damage at optimal ranges. Rifles lack everything but the patch brought the kinetics/ransetsu at least to a decent spot.

    I agree with a lot that was said in this video. From what I can tell, the 1 silver lining to the assault rifles is being a low EL alternative, middle to short-range auxiliaries for pressuring in combination with your main weapons. But if you have EL to spare once you have your main weapons set on your build, there are plenty of better auxiliaries in the game.

    Of all the buffs in the patch, the massive decrease to reload time was sorely needed the most in my opinion. What's the point of consistent damage if it's not at all consistent?

    I don't think Assault Rifles were bad. They were pretty good at keeping the stagger meter built. They just didnt add a lot of stagger so you needed to pair it with something else for it to shine.

    Honestly i dont find the weapons much of a problem. Its the stagger system in general. I like the stagger system, but how it works is very polarizing among weapons. It definitely needs some tweaking and adjustments, I feel. I do appreciate this patch and buffing some underwhelming weapons, but i feel an adjustment to stagger would benefit weapons as a whole.

      I honestly hate the system. Can it be fun? Sure. But any game with a stagger system just devolves into chasing it down to do meaningful damage and that makes fights feel LESS dynamic, not more so like they expected. They said it creates an ebb and flow to combat, and imo it fails in this conceptual regard when players push the system.

    From is really missing out here.
    All the rifles an armored Core would carry would be something like 25mm+ autocannon sized weapons. At that size, you can vary the effects your projectiles have on enemies by changing the payload of the rounds.
    Airburst, HE, HEAT, Sabots. All of these are employed by modern militaries running infantry fighting vehicles and the same should have been the case in AC6. Choosing an assault rifle because it opens up the option for you to pack slower AOE rounds, or superfast sabots, or EM round that mess up the enemies ACS would make assault rifles more viable.

    I don’t think Zimmerman are broken I just thing other weapons are underwhelming , ar take forever to stagger , which allowed zim to get in untouched so this patch is spot on

    even with the 1.02 patch the ARs ARE STILL lacking I'm trying to mod them but I couldnt see the values I want to tweak (namely RoF and most likely velocity which I can see so maybe I'll start from there)

    If feels like all of the ballistic weapons have literally no range. So much so to the point that I can be mediumish range and get a ricochet that does no damaged. Like what the hell are we firing? Shells all the way back from World War One?

    Lucky for you the video isn't out of date because assault rifles are still bad. The buffs were good but they needed to go harder with them, as it is now the changes weren't significant enough to shift anything. They might buff them more in the PvP patch, this patch was specifically aimed at the early campaign for some reason.

    Dual turner carried me through the ng++ boss. It was one of the few weapons that felt consistent. This was pre patch.

    I've found AR's to be really, really great. 3 missiles and one AR lets you keep up the stagger meter and harass the opponent while you reload, it made the campaign a breeze and it's very fun to play.
    Yeah zimmermans and melee is better but so what?

    Good thing that I found out how useful shotgut is that I thrown my assault rifle and burst rifle away and went dual shotgun build + speedy AC boi!!! I can't slap my enemy with melee if I don't get closer

    Don't worry your video is far from ruined. Their meager changes did very little.
    It at least shows FromSoft is somewhat aware of their game. I honestly can't remember a time developers correctly identified something too weak/too strong and tweaked it on something I was playing.

      he knows how to use a tank dual gatling songbird build and trivialize the entire game, thats about the extent of his "knowledge" in this game.

      ​​​@@scragglieHes also the few people who actually use Assault Boost defensively and offensively, and dodging attacks in general
      Almost 90% of the Zimmer, Songbird, Gatlings, and Stun Needle casuals face tank everything and doesnt dodge
      And some of them even say Shields are useless when if anything Shields are REALLY strong

    Skill issue. Assault rifles are not great at building the stagger bar, but theyre good at keeping the stagger bar from falling off.
    The stagger bar is pretty similar to the system ff 13 used. Where some classes are great at building stagger meter but some are great at keeping the stager meter from falling off.
    You are trying to use the Assault Rifles for building Stagger which is not what they excel at. Pair it with a weapon that builds stagger and it will shine.
