Beautiful exclusive vinyl and printing really sets this theme apart from others in terms of sets at this time. Absolutely love the temple. I totally didn't really know it existed either. No idea why that was, because I was definitely big into LEGO in 2011. Something was handled weird in marketing it would seem!
I actually adored this theme so much that I wrote an awful, 300 page long novel back in 2012 (I was 13 at the time) where I based the characters off of these heroes, including their names, lol. Jake Raines was a journalist in London, and Prof. Archibald Hale was his stepfather. He had to travel to Egypt to write an article, so they met a pilot called Mac McCloud. Their plane crashed, Jake's leg broke, and after the recovery, they had to get home. Due to there being a mysterious storm in the world for weeks, it wasn't as easy as just taking a plane home (lol, that's just lazy writing), so they had to find a way home. That's when I completely changed where the novel was going: they met Helena Skvalling, who was a secret agent on a mission against the evil Dr. Inferno (yeah, from Lego Agents), whose plan was to use magnetic satellite power (whatever that means) to corrupt all electricity on Earth, only leaving out a small area of his, thus making him the only human with electricity, and making him a god. The constant storm was a side effect of these magnetic powers, for some reason. So the 3 guys joined the secret agents, and our 4 heroes had to fight against the evil Dr. Inferno (whose twin brother was the head of this agency). Oh, thank you so much for reminding me of my awful novel from my childhood! No jokes, it's so nostalgic! The first people I showed it to were my grandparents, who are no longer with us, they were so supportive, and this just took me on an emotional journey!
That's super cool though. I know my brother and I would draw terrible comics based off our favorite themes, so I can totally relate, ha! It's amazing to see what a big part of our lives these characters and themes became. Growing up with LEGO was undoubtedly a treat and fostered so much imagination and creativity.
Sounds like we had very similar imaginations as kids. I miss these original Lego themes that weren't based on a show or movie or game. It let you just play it however you want. Too bad kids these days don't have that as much
Did you know? -> One of the heroes from the DINO theme (with yellow and Dark-red vehicles etc) is officially a descendant from Johnny Thunder; Josh Thunder (the one wearing a green bandana). Probably a reference to the last wave of Adventurers on Dino Island.
I usually don’t want to watch these videos…only because I’d be super tempted to buy the entire line lol! Those Anubis Guards are beyond cool! Really wish I had more of these sets when I was younger but I think I’m just in a nostalgic mood atm haha…
Pharaoh’s Quest was one of my favorite themes as a kid along with Agents, Atlantis, Ultra Agents, & Galaxy Squad. I had all of the sets except for the Scorpion Pyramid which goes for way too much now so I just opted to get one of the exclusive Anubis Guards from the set & call it there. I even had 2 of the Scarab Attack sets because they were cheap. Really great revisiting video though!
The 2000s and early 2010s had some of the coolest non-licensed themes ever! I’m sad that even as a working adult I can’t afford all those sets I failed to acquire as a child…
I am so glad that I bought one of the anubis guards back then as part of a fridge magnet. During that time you could remove the glue with warm water and some soap without damaging the figure. He now sleeps in a Tomb MOC waiting to be disturbed by Indiana Jones :D
I'm so sorry 😂 I'm the same way when I watch similar videos from other people... Atlantis is my latest. At least those are a bit more affordable than Scorpion Pyramid!
This is one of the few themes from my childhood I still have intact sets of. I did make some simple modifications to some of my sets like swapping out the black plane propeller for a silver one because it matches the color of the second between the two wings on each side better, and adding one of the spring loaded rubber missiles to the top of the vehicle from the Spinx set.
Actualy lego added display features to the pyramid, you can place the stone snake set over the snake pit, the airplane pillar over the scorpion pit and the staff set can be placed on top of the Sarcophagus area.
I just had the little car poly bag, but my friend was super into this theme and I always admired the sets on the back of the instructions. This video brought back memories of Atlantis, Alien Conquest and old school Ninjago. You've definitely got the right audience here!
2000-2015 gave us some amazing LEGO sets. It was the perfect time to be growing up! I do hope to cover some of the other themes you mentioned in the future here too. In fact, I just got an Atlantis set in the mail today!
Fantastic showcasing of this short lived theme! Pharaoh’s Quest definitely seems to The Adventurers theme, as “The Mummy” is to “Indiana Jones”. While it never grabbed me quite like Adventurers (due in no small part to the extravagant desert monster inclusions), I’ve always respected it. Presently I only have 7306: Golden Staff Guardians, though I can definitely see myself picking up more as time goes on. On the topic of Mac McCloud, I think he most corresponds to the Adventurers’ pilot Harry Cane. Short of The Adventurers returning, I wouldn’t mind seeing another series like this, pop up again… though I fear such may not come to pass until Indiana Jones has come and gone again (I truly do love Indy, just not to the exclusion of first-party IP).
I agree with the mummy and Indiana Jones comparisons. This set was more into the supernatural with the supernatural villain like the mummy. While Indiana Jones and adventures had supernatural elements it was less often for bigger impact. They both also have humans as the main antagonist
The fact they even decided to make this admirable, considering it didn't feel like a line that could shine from the rest of the current lines. To me this feels like one of the last lines of experimental lego, with a modern set being barely always locked to big existing lines. Great retrospective!
There used to be a fantastic laser ride at Lego Land Windsor based on this, and the waiting line had beautiful reliefs on the walls made of Lego. I particularly remember a picture of Anubis playing basketball as a little joke for bored people in line 😆
That's awesome lol! I figured there had to be world-wide tie-ins at the parks to this theme. There's something similar at LEGOLand Florida, though I don't think there's a basketball scene unfortunately 😂
It's crazy isn't it. They even had promotions for lord of the rings and pirates of the Carribbean, and this was while the sun still had page 3 models.... I won't go into detail about that but yeahh iykyk, not exactly the most kid friendly newspaper
It was too fun to see that you had uploaded that, and on the day I decided to make this video of all days. It helped a lot with my understanding of the theme, so I'm quite glad you made it when you did!
Even though I never had any of the sets, I’m super nostalgic for this theme because of the flash games Lego used to have on their website. I would play them all the time at school. I still regret never getting any sets.
I've heard a lot of great things about this game in particular. While I never played it myself (this was the LEGO Universe era!) I always loved the many flash games on LEGO's website
Fun fact: that cobra’s top half was reused for a special coin bank for Pharaoh’s Quest. I think you would pull a lever to make the snake steal the coin and pull it into the bank. Edit: Commented this and then realized you already mentioned it! Whoops!
Yeah! I had a similar bank from the Castle line. It was quite fun thought despite the build's size (if you can even call it a build - it's like 75% cardboard lol) it had hardly any room for actual coins.
This was one of my favorite themes as a kid, I wasn’t around for Adventurers so I was happy to have this. Unfortunately I didn’t get either of the big sets, but the mummy blister pack plus the pharaoh from the CMF line let me have my own version of Amset-Ra and his sarcophagus. Excellent and nostalgic review once again!
Unfortunately, after watching this fantastic video... I am going to pick all these sets up on eBay, and once again put off purchasing a new car. Always been my favorite theme. But never purchased them all. I blame you. Fantastic video as always. 😂 PS: I find LEGO's attention to detail with the hieroglyphs fantastic. Using real ones we commonly find, like the Eye of Horus (symbol of wellbeing and protection.)
@@CheeseyStudios All but one. When they were coming out I was too young to get them because I had no $$$. But I played the games and read the comics and I've always been fascinated with ancient Egypt. I am actually learning to translate hieroglyphs! So this video brought back a wave of childhood nostalgia. All sealed sets come out to about $900. 🥴☠️ I blame you once again. 😂
I love how this man can make a video about a series of a set (any set) that maybe nobody could know about, and make a video thats atleast 30 minutes long, props to this man.
I always saw Johnny Thunder as an Indiana Jones type, and Jake Raines as more like Nathan Drake. I loved this theme so much and would love a sequel or successor, the potential is huge
Great video, great theme. Ngl, the background music you chose has a melody that reminds me strongly of Anakin and Padme's theme in Attack of the Clone and I can't unhear it every time it plays xD
Looking back on this theme, definitely a lot better than Hero Factory. Alien Conquest was pretty weird as well, the tail end of non-licensed new themes had a lot of good and a lot of bad sets.
i remember christmas 2011, when these sets were all the rage, and my male cousin got the big pyramid set while i got the small $10 set with the motorcycle. I remember being so absolutely jealous of my cousin, as this was not the first incident of him getting the big important set of a theme and me getting a tiny afterthought set, or straight up no legos at all. this trend only changed when i was a teenager and I got a couple modular sets for christmas a few years in a row while my older cousin got more "adult" gifts like gift cards or new electronics. But then i had to get rid of my whole lego collection and donate them to my way younger cousins because they were taking too much space and it was truly a sad day having to pack up all of that stuff only to find out years later they just sit in a box unused bc my cousins only play on their ipads or xbox 360. this video unlocked so many childhood memories, it's insane!
Wow that's an exhaustive review of a theme I am not familiar with at all! Thank you Caleb, this was great. Does the inclusion of the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull baseplate mean we will see Indiana Jones sets reviewed next? ;-) Cheers bud!
I have a great deal of nostalgia for Pharaoh’s Quest and many other single year themes that game out around that time such as Monster Fighters, Dino, Atlantis, Galaxy Squad, and Power Miners. And with half of these themes- Pharaoh’s Quest included- I never got a single set, I just watched a bunch of commercials. But lately, I’ve been revisiting these old themes myself through RUclips videos and I have to say, they were all awesome. Thanks for letting me catch a glimpse of what some of them had to offer through videos like these.
Another great showcase. I'm saddened by the fact that licensed themes sell better than original ones as this shows how great (and in my bias, superior) original themes are.
This is a very nicely made video. I love how professional everything is, from the filming to the commentary. Keep it up ;) I liked this theme a lot growing up, and this video really did it justice. Congrats.
Though I’ve never owned any of the sets I’ve always wanted to since I was a kid so I have lots of second hand nostalgia for them. This theme is great and reminds of the best parts of LEGO. 2010-2013 really were a golden age imo. So many fantastic original themes like Pharaoh's Quest, Monster Fighters, Ninjago and Atlantis and some of the greatest sets from licensed themes like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
This was one of my favorite LEGO themes back when it released, and it still is today. I had every set expect for the Scorpion Pyramid. I really wish this theme had stayed around longer, I loved it so much! Great video!
I had the sphinx and the staff guardians sets as a kid, but I remembered some friends had sets I was missing. I remember I spent a lot of time thinking about the other cool sets and how nice they would be! I think it’s fun that this theme is somewhere between Lego adventurers and the Mummy movie from 1999, another staple of my childhood.
This theme was amazing and it is on my top 3 themes. Monster Fighters, Pharaoh Quest and Space Police 3. Honestly so sad that lego is not doing unique themes anymore such a downfall in the company's decisions. Edit: I would love for you to revisit the Lego Monster Fighters theme
Could we get a complete collection video one day? You truly amaze me with all the older themes you seem to have completed, it’s hard to keep track of it
Unfortunately I'm constantly rebuilding and parting out 😪 I've never had everything all put together at once. I'd recommend watching my studio tour though if you haven't already!
I loved this theme. I got the "Scarab Attack" set, as well as the Battle Pack and an Anubis Warrior keychain. I've also just bought the "Rise of the Sphinx" set; can't wait to build it.
Yes! I've noticed some of these sets recently on your shelf and have been waiting for this video ever since. Great theme, I'm looking forward to pick up some sets
Thankfully most of the smaller sets are pretty affordable used. Well worth picking up Golden Staff Guardians or Flying Mummy Attack in my opinion! Amazing figures!
You make spectacular videos, Cheesey. The quality and care is unmatched. You quickly became my favorite lego RUclipsr and I look forward to every video you make.
This really was a top notch video. Great Work! I really love this style of adventure/exploration theme so it's a shame I missed it and that we haven't seen again. Can't wait to see whats next!
Absolutely hit the nail on the head when you talked about other theme competition, I remember for Christmas 2011 I of course had to choose only 1 big set of the themes I liked that I wanted, and I chose the city of Atlantis over this one, which tbh I don't regret
And the half-track! A half-track is an interesting hybrid of a truck and a tank with the treads in place of the driving wheels. And the Scorpion Pyramid was the first ever kit to have a half-track.
I’m new to the channel and I love people who are willing to go into the more niche topics in a hobby and this was so cool to see. Waiting for monster hunters one day. Loved the video.
Same, I only got one set back in the day (the plane) and I really regret not having purchased more. Regret is a terrible thing. It eats away at you. This is another making video. You make spectacular content.
I love this theme for how it combined the aesthetics of Adventure with the style of Ben Fraser’s the mummy and just makes me wish that Lego did more original themes nowadays
Be either Adventurers, Indiana Jones or Pharaoh's Quest, I love these adventure archeology-based themes! They are so full of charm and details. It's really a shame I don't posses anyone, although I'm in Japan now for a month and a half, and I'm planning to go to the LEGO discovery center's shop, which seems larger than an usual LEGO shop, so maybe there is some hope! I think you can download the Pharaoh's Quest comic, I downloaded it years ago in my native Spanish, I think, it was very interesting n_n
This line was my favorite while it was out, and I still have fond feelings for it. I remember my initial reason for wanting it was because it featured an old-fashioned biplane, and I was jealous of my older brother's biplane that he got in that snowy Adventurers set shown in the video. Surprisingly, the only set I never got my hands on was the Scarab Attack one. I've been meaning to buy one on the aftermarket for years now
Im always so happy when i see that you uploaded a new video. I know its expensive to do those old lego theme videos but those are just so interesting and they bring me back to my childhood thank you for that:DD
This was indeed my most expensive video ever, but I love doing these revisiting ones. I have lots more to come, too! Very glad to know they are appreciated :D
Revisiting these classic lego themes is just causing tidal waves of nostalgia… I remember getting quite a kick out of the Pharoah’s Quest web game, which was a surprisingly fleshed out platformer, especially for its time!
I have the main sets with the six treasures. They can take up a lot of shelf space if you spread them out individually, but some of the spaces on the Pyramid set almost seem designed to fit other sets onto it (the Cobra can fit over the snake pit, the Soul Diamond shrine can fit over the open scorpion pit, etc).
McCloud’s bike is still my favorite Lego bike and overall I adore this theme (not as much as the original Adventure, which was my childhood). But anyway, amazing video, as always!!
It is pretty cool and they honestly did quite a good job with all the vehicles, simple as they were. But nothing will top the original Adventurers, that's for sure! Glad you enjoyed, thank you!
@@CheeseyStudios Thanks man! Great job on the video! I really like this theme, post video! The vehicles are cool and very reminiscent of the Adventurers vehicles; I love the tracked vehicle because I always wanted the Dragon Fortress when I was a kid (bought it last year 😅) and it had a tracked vehicle like that one.
Absolutely one of my favorite childhood themes. Me and my brother would play with our planes and flying mummies, do the online game, and even make our own comics on the Lego website. It really is crazy how much this means to fans for only having one wave.
I wish I could share my joy for this theme but I will just briefly describe it. I spent over $1000 dollars on making an army of this theme filling an entire large grey base plate with mummy like figures (Black/snake heads)/Anubis figures. I am in love with this theme and many of the themes from this era of Lego and will always love Egyptian themes! For context, I have over 50 Anubis guards, 2 waves of mummies behind them (about 50 - 60 mummies behind it) with two of each set behind them all. Loved the video and the channel!
So glad you enjoyed! This theme had such amazing minifigures. I would definitely like to buy an Anubis Guard again one day, but the prices are definitely pretty crazy 😭
I can't believe I missed out on this amazing theme, I was too young to really get into Johnny Thunder but once I got into Lego I've always wanted Lego to revisit the pulpy historical fiction world
What an amazing surprise !! you mentioned you were working on a 'revisiting' for Exo-Force and Knights Kingdom II but this totally caught me off guard in the best possible way! even though it was criminally short lived Pharaoh's Quest really was a legendary original theme, out of the early 2010's its definetly tied as one of my favourites next to Monster Fighters, (which would also totally be an amazing topic for a revisit 👀👀) keep being awesome!!
I do somewhat remember this set, and i even tried to make the pyramid from pieces i had and i think i did something close. I loved making sets without buying them it made me improvise with what i had
32:27 part of me wonders whether they had initially planned to put the headdress in the top room, with the pit trap off to the right. because if you go back to 29:20 you can see there _is_ a pit right around there in the baseplate. but maybe they just weren't able to make it work with the space they had, and so they swapped the location of the elements somewhat last minute
I got the scarab beetle and the cursed cobra back when I was a kid. Loved that cobra, it was so fun how it was so moveable. It also gave me all those ball joints that I later used for a very important moc.
I remember watching the Johnny Thunder Adventurers live action stunt show at LEGOLAND Windsor when I was a kid and getting a lot of the Adventurers sets so this was a nice throwback. Adventurers sets would be great to get again.
I was born in 2000 so adventurers was definitely before my time but I was absolutely obsessed with the theme so when pharaohs quest came out I was obviously really excited and while the sets were/are still fun they always felt a bit empty to me. Maybe that’s because adventurers felt like an expedition that let you choose how to play whereas pharaoh’s quest seemed like a battle with collectibles. Either way I believe lego should bring back more generic themes because to me they’re much more timeless than a licensed product
I definitely think Adventurers will always be the superior theme - there was just always so much going on in those sets, so many accessories and traps. The stories you could make up were endless. Pharaoh's Quest slacked a bit in some of those elements, but dang, the sets sure look good!
I actually got the set with that big cobra perched on the pillar. Sadly, I'm pretty sure I lost quite literally every single piece in that set over time.
What themes are you considering visiting next? I would like to see either the original Lego agents theme or the Lego Castle Sets. I love the way these videos go through each set individually. Great video!
It will take months, (perhaps even a year or two to get to all these 😂 ), but this is roughly the list at the moment: Knights' Kingdom II, Exo-Force, Atlantis, Prince of Persia, Aqua Raiders, Fantasy Era Castle
i loved these sets, i had the first 3 and i distinctively remember taking the thing off the bottom of my plane and just using as a ww1 fighter, also something i found funny is i had that same hospital that used the raised baseplate
man, I was so close to completing my collection back in the day, I only missed the sphinx, but being so young at the time they all got lost to "the bin". although this makes me wanna dig through it and see if I can rebuild my sets

Omg this totally reminds me of stuff me and my sister used to write
That's super cool though. I know my brother and I would draw terrible comics based off our favorite themes, so I can totally relate, ha! It's amazing to see what a big part of our lives these characters and themes became. Growing up with LEGO was undoubtedly a treat and fostered so much imagination and creativity.
@@CheeseyStudios I did the same, drawing those comics was so much fun
Sounds like we had very similar imaginations as kids. I miss these original Lego themes that weren't based on a show or movie or game. It let you just play it however you want. Too bad kids these days don't have that as much
Did you know? -> One of the heroes from the DINO theme (with yellow and Dark-red vehicles etc) is officially a descendant from Johnny Thunder; Josh Thunder (the one wearing a green bandana). Probably a reference to the last wave of Adventurers on Dino Island.
I appreciate that your reviews go over lore for the themes as well as unique parts for the themes. Great work, I’m glad I found your channel
Really glad you enjoy these! Happy you found your way here, too
I just love that Mummy’s shield, it’s SUCH a good print! I wish they had brought back Johnny Thunder back for this theme though.
Agreed. Jake just isn't the same!
I’m glad. I like Jake and it’s nice to have some new heroes
@@legoroan9866 thats fair, I just really miss good old Johnny
@@Lego_Dude5000Johnny's grandson Josh was the leader of the team in "Dino", if that helps!
I usually don’t want to watch these videos…only because I’d be super tempted to buy the entire line lol! Those Anubis Guards are beyond cool! Really wish I had more of these sets when I was younger but I think I’m just in a nostalgic mood atm haha…
LOL - I can't watch old reviews for the same reason...
That's awesome that you had so many of these, and I'm really glad you got one of the Anubis Guards. Such an incredible minifigure!
Yet another greatly detailed deep dive. This is the type of RUclips video I’ve dreamed of seeing and here it is. Instant classic
Really glad you enjoy these! Definitely my favorite type of video to make here.
My bank account hates when you do these series reviews, my nostalgia always leads me to bricklink. Thank you for such fantastic overviews!
Very nice! That's the beauty of LEGO.
Besides Makuta, Amset-Ra, with all the golden treasures, might be the most powerful character in Lego mythos. 🤔
Indeed. He's quite the foe with all the treasures. Invincible? Able to see the future? Can't lose a battle? YIKES
I mean, the man is literally just a cheeky offbrand Settra. And SETTRA DOES NOT SERVE!
What about the Brickster when he gets the red brick?
The Ninja from Classic Ninjago could probably find a way to best him.
Thanks for all that you do.
You're the best Martin - greatly appreciate all the support!
Actualy lego added display features to the pyramid, you can place the stone snake set over the snake pit, the airplane pillar over the scorpion pit and the staff set can be placed on top of the Sarcophagus area.
That's the beauty of LEGO!
Love the very professional presentation of the minifigs! Subbed!
Thank you! Glad to have ya!
Thank you! I definitely agree with you. It's the last of a dying era of LEGO, represented best by the last raised baseplate too...
Finding out that lego collaborated with the sun is the most shocking thing I've heard all year 😂
😂 I feel like I've seen other such promotions too. Crazy stuff!
I live in the UK and for lots of year the giving free Lego toys was the only way to get poly bag sets.
They also collaborated with the Daily Mail a few times, even worse!
Imagine if they collaborated with the moon next 😂🤣
It's crazy isn't it. They even had promotions for lord of the rings and pirates of the Carribbean, and this was while the sun still had page 3 models.... I won't go into detail about that but yeahh iykyk, not exactly the most kid friendly newspaper
Thanks for the shout out, I really appreciate it.
This and Alien Conquest where my childhood, and my favorite lego original sets
Alien Conquest is another one I'd like to cover at some point...
I'm sooo tired right now but tomorrow morning I'm gonna have the best breakfast while watching this. Thank you!
That was the best breakfast ever
Ayoooo let's goooo :D
Man do I miss that piramide. I remember my Grandma dropping it when bringing it to the car.
Oh RIP pyramid 🤣
Fun fact: that cobra’s top half was reused for a special coin bank for Pharaoh’s Quest. I think you would pull a lever to make the snake steal the coin and pull it into the bank.
Edit: Commented this and then realized you already mentioned it! Whoops!
Yeah! I had a similar bank from the Castle line. It was quite fun thought despite the build's size (if you can even call it a build - it's like 75% cardboard lol) it had hardly any room for actual coins.
@@CheeseyStudios the one with the dragon that pops out from inside?
This was one of my favorite themes as a kid, I wasn’t around for Adventurers so I was happy to have this. Unfortunately I didn’t get either of the big sets, but the mummy blister pack plus the pharaoh from the CMF line let me have my own version of Amset-Ra and his sarcophagus.
Excellent and nostalgic review once again!
Thank you! I'm glad they put the sarcophagus in the battle pack too. Such a fun pair of pieces!
@@CheeseyStudios for sure! Really nice of Lego to give us easier access to it.
Unfortunately, after watching this fantastic video... I am going to pick all these sets up on eBay, and once again put off purchasing a new car. Always been my favorite theme. But never purchased them all.
I blame you. Fantastic video as always. 😂
PS: I find LEGO's attention to detail with the hieroglyphs fantastic. Using real ones we commonly find, like the Eye of Horus (symbol of wellbeing and protection.)
Oh no, what have I done? xD Which sets are you missing?
@@CheeseyStudios All but one. When they were coming out I was too young to get them because I had no $$$. But I played the games and read the comics and I've always been fascinated with ancient Egypt. I am actually learning to translate hieroglyphs! So this video brought back a wave of childhood nostalgia.
All sealed sets come out to about $900. 🥴☠️
I blame you once again. 😂
I love how this man can make a video about a series of a set (any set) that maybe nobody could know about, and make a video thats atleast 30 minutes long, props to this man.
I do my best :)
@@CheeseyStudios and i absolutely love you for it
I always saw Johnny Thunder as an Indiana Jones type, and Jake Raines as more like Nathan Drake. I loved this theme so much and would love a sequel or successor, the potential is huge
Definitely wish we could have seen more. A modern jungle expedition would be amazing with all the plant pieces we have now!
Great video, great theme. Ngl, the background music you chose has a melody that reminds me strongly of Anakin and Padme's theme in Attack of the Clone and I can't unhear it every time it plays xD
Lol! I'll have to give that a listen again 😂
Looking back on this theme, definitely a lot better than Hero Factory. Alien Conquest was pretty weird as well, the tail end of non-licensed new themes had a lot of good and a lot of bad sets.
The big one I forgot about was Kingdoms, too. It was the year of the GOAT
I've always thought Alien Conquest was charming, but I've also always had a soft spot for vintage B-movie aesthetics
i remember christmas 2011, when these sets were all the rage, and my male cousin got the big pyramid set while i got the small $10 set with the motorcycle.
I do promise I'll get there eventually! Definitely will do sone reviews around the time the movie drops at the very latest :)
Wow, one of the first lego sets I ever got as a kid was the flying mummy attack set! Good times.
That's a great one to begin with!
Really glad you enjoyed! There really were so many great original themes during this time
Another great showcase.
Congrats.
Really appreciate the kind words - thank you!
Thank you! I sure would have loved to have seen more from this one too.
Oh cool 😊
4:32
This was the only set from this wave i got as a kid. I still have the figs, staff, and bike from it. Accessories too
That's such a great little set!
LETS GOOO
I had the sphinx and the staff guardians sets as a kid, but I remembered some friends had sets I was missing. I remember I spent a lot of time thinking about the other cool sets and how nice they would be! I think it’s fun that this theme is somewhere between Lego adventurers and the Mummy movie from 1999, another staple of my childhood.
I have to imagine there was a good deal of Mummy-inspired stuff in this theme!
Very much agree. The unbridled creativity from these in-house themes is just so creative and fun. I miss that very much from today's modern themes.
Me after seeing the Anubis Guard minifigures:
“Now I want to see a Bastet minifigure.”
That's awesome! This theme is so much fun. Glad you have the battle pack - the mummy warriors are great
Thank you so much, Moe!
This really was a top notch video. Great Work!
I really love this style of adventure/exploration theme so it's a shame I missed it and that we haven't seen again.
Can't wait to see whats next!
Appreciate it! I would love an Adventurers reboot. There's just so much potential there!
Absolutely hit the nail on the head when you talked about other theme competition, I remember for Christmas 2011 I of course had to choose only 1 big set of the themes I liked that I wanted, and I chose the city of Atlantis over this one, which tbh I don't regret
The Pyramid is surreal, love the Anubis minifigures. first time I hear about this theme.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
I can’t believe I’ve never heard of these!!
I had an anubis head that came with some used legos for christmas one year. I put it on a Darth Vader body and named him Darth Doggie lol.
lololol
Same, I only got one set back in the day (the plane) and I really regret not having purchased more. Regret is a terrible thing. It eats away at you.
This is another making video. You make spectacular content.
This theme was my childhood
This would have been a fun one to grow up with for sure!
I love this theme for how it combined the aesthetics of Adventure with the style of Ben Fraser’s the mummy and just makes me wish that Lego did more original themes nowadays
LEGO's original themes are always just so imaginative. I miss them dearly too!
I loved this theme as a child
It's really good stuff!
I had some of these sets when I was younger, and I read the webcomic! I LOVED Pharoah's Quest.
Very nice! The web comic was quite cool, and extravagant!
I've been meaning to buy one on the aftermarket for years now
I remember loving the Pharaoh’s Quest sets when I was a kid and I wish I had the chance to get one back then
I wish I had been more into it as a kid too! I think I missed out on a lot of fun stuff
Revisiting these classic lego themes is just causing tidal waves of nostalgia…
I remember getting quite a kick out of the Pharoah’s Quest web game, which was a surprisingly fleshed out platformer, especially for its time!
Wish I had played it! A lot of commenters have mentioned it. Wish LEGO would archive that stuff, even if it would take some work to maintain.
Flashpoint might have it! It’s preserved thousands of old flash/other web games!
Someone else had mentioned that too! That's a really cool feature
Yeah that bike looks awesome! I’d like to pick it up now 😅

Yessssss I love these retrospectives so much
They're definitely my favorite videos to do here too. :D Glad you enjoy them!
I can't believe I missed out on this amazing theme, I was too young to really get into Johnny Thunder but once I got into Lego I've always wanted Lego to revisit the pulpy historical fiction world
Great video. I remember playing the online game associated with this.
That was the best game
That could very well be. Ah, to have been a fly on the wall!
I got the scarab beetle and the cursed cobra back when I was a kid. Loved that cobra, it was so fun how it was so moveable. It also gave me all those ball joints that I later used for a very important moc.
Gotta love ball joints!
@@CheeseyStudios oh for sure, that bi-plane is probably one of legos pest looking planes
I actually got the set with that big cobra perched on the pillar. Sadly, I'm pretty sure I lost quite literally every single piece in that set over time.
Oh no 😭
What themes are you considering visiting next? I would like to see either the original Lego agents theme or the Lego Castle Sets. I love the way these videos go through each set individually. Great video!
It will take months, (perhaps even a year or two to get to all these 😂 ), but this is roughly the list at the moment:
Knights' Kingdom II, Exo-Force, Atlantis, Prince of Persia, Aqua Raiders, Fantasy Era Castle
Another great review. Only have come across 2 of those sets that I've added to my collection but continue to keep my eye out
Thank you! Hope you find more. All the sets and figs from this theme are pretty great
i loved these sets, i had the first 3 and i distinctively remember taking the thing off the bottom of my plane and just using as a ww1 fighter, also something i found funny is i had that same hospital that used the raised baseplate
Wow I'm in love with this theme. Thank you for bringing it up! 😁
The Friends set you showed does not use a vinyl part. It's a massive cloth piece. Also you have a rogue frame at the start of the video.
i am a failure
man, I was so close to completing my collection back in the day, I only missed the sphinx, but being so young at the time they all got lost to "the bin". although this makes me wanna dig through it and see if I can rebuild my sets
You Totally should! At least getting the figures back together would be well worth it
I have some.. _concerns_ with the Rise of the Sphinx set. That isn't a sphinx, that's a feline someone decided to slap the head of Anubis onto.
It's definitely not your typical Sphinx, yeah 😂 Still love the head though
I still have the 2011 catalog introducing these sets, couldn’t afford a single one but always ogled over them in the Lego store
Gotta love the catalogues. My brother and I would pour over those for hours,,,
this is one of my favourites lego theme, thank for this amazing video
No problem! I'm really glad you like it :D
