Another really lovely video thank you :) especially loved the start, what a long way to walk to get to the train.. :)
Phew, I just finished watching the beginning and now I'm buggered. Boy, I would not be able to walk all that way, especially at the speed you walk at. Geez, woman, you can certainly put on the pace. Hehehe. Seriously though, I loved the intro. One of your best!
HAHAHA! Yeah, serious amount of coffee and squirrel DNA was added. LOL!
Wow! Cutting through a skate park, and sneaking through a rail yard without anyone seeing you to steal a train! I'm impressed!!!
Good grief HinduCowGirl what a way to get to work. No traffic jams for you. You jog all thorough the city to get to the train. Love the scenery and Oslo is amazing. Again another beautiful video that keeps getting better all the time. How do you keep us so enchanted with train travel? Thank you for sharing your lovely world and we the herd love you for it.
Thanks for the walk to the train station. The escalator up to the TS reminds me of coming down the other side and my suitcase has a problem, I bend over and topple over. No damage except pride. Everyone was helpful, and on we went. Keep them coming.
Once again...excellent video from my favorite train driver. Nice to see the landscape instead of that blanket of snow. Thanks for posting it.
The absolute best beginning to the video yet! I'm worn out already from the walk to the train from the hotel. Thank you HCG for all that you do for us wishing we were there to experience it live for ourselves. You never disappoint me with your videos. Take care and keep safe, Auntie Lyn.
Sweet, another video of the eastern portion of the route. I really like the information boxes that were shown in a few places, as well as the notes on each station: they added extra information without distracting from the journey.
Thanks for putting all the effort into filming and editing these videos :)
Many, many thanks for the new video. You are an awesome person. I love your ride. Can't for another one. Had to rewatch it. It was great seeing everyone again
I haven't even watched after the first 4 minutes but I already love it. I loved the start how you got to the loc. Man, what a distance to walk! Thanks again for another great video with gorgeous footage of Norwegian nature
Veľmi prekrásne natočené video . Pochvala a palec hore .
Perfektné , super . Pozdravujem srdečne zo Slovenska .
Thanks for another great video.
That's a long walk!
Thank you for showing the ride from the very beginning when you pick up the engine,,
You're the only one that does it thank you
Trains are so neat. Thank you for putting up history and information, makes it more interesting for me, Hello from Alberta, Canada. Great quality T,Y
I really hope you'll post this video in full later on after the premiere for those of us who may miss it. Big thanks for all you do!
Yes, it will be available at once right after the premiere :)
Another amazing video, through beautiful scenery, i wish i could come and visit
Just love your vids watching them again and again. That was quite a walk you had to do.
Thank You for the little info bits.
You have the best job in the world in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I'm incredibly envious. Thank you for your hard work and please continue!
Another great video. The scenery is excellent from the cab view.
Heck of a hike to get to work. Need yard job to put power on. Sure is a trusting chap to stand between the rails with approaching power.
Flott film og godt utført! Ser lett og informativ ut. Lykke til til Svinushechka og i fremtiden! Takk for arbeidet ditt!!!
Love the speedy station walk😆 you made it like the game I play.
Love! Love!
Thanks for reminding me what the inside of Oslo Station (Stasjon) looks like.
Love your vids so much! Am in Norway on holiday at the moment and just caught the train from Oslo to Bergen.Amazing journey!
LOL! U must be in good shape. U walked a "few" km. And the sound of the keys on fastforward is actually funny.
Very well done, love those trains
Love the walk from the Hotel to the Train Depot to pick up the Loco. If HCG really walked at that pace I would "politely" suggest a little less Caffeine in the morning... ☕ 😊
hahaha!
@@RailCowGirl Looked more like running late...and then looking for the engine...o where o where is it..Love it, Thanks !!
Beautiful
oh. I really miss the old NSB type 70 trains :( Great video :D
Thanks for another entertaining video. It's early spring in the U.S. too. It's so great to watch the leaves coming out on the trees and feel heat in the air again. I love your videos.
Trains are so cool man!
Hi HCG... Could see a little bit of Oslo. Have been to tromso and Bergen and planning to visit again.. Fell in love with Norway... Another great video.. Thanks
first 4 min was awesome
Wow! That was quite a “commute” to work! Another wonderful and informative video as always. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the walk to the station. That’s quite a hike! 😳
Indeed it is :)
Thanks for your channel, it's a wonder to know your country for your videos. Greetings from Spain.
très belle video. Merci de nous faire visiter votre pays et merci pour letravail. merci de france.
Amazing!..Well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the 4-minute entry 👍❤
Excelente video, ¡saludos desde la Patagonia Argentina!
My wife and I put these on quite often and love them. I especially love the extra footage of walking around the train and switch yard. The information on the tunnels was great too. I wish we had trains as nice as these here where I live.
We spent our Friday night watching this trip. I only wish there was a way to link a google map to this video so I could watch it on the map too. As it was, I had my iPad Pro out and open to Google maps, but I Iost it a couple of times.
I really appreciate the wonderful scenery! I live in MInnesota, USA and much of the surroundings are very similar.
Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming.
Your videos are interestingly calming.
I love this cab train stuff, thanks also
much for video,nice walk,long but
Worth the efforts,Happy Valentine's
Day!
Glad you enjoyed it
this is amazing, walk to workplace
I Like yours vidéo these are nice trips
Congratulations for the names of all stations
P.S. it seems I was mistaken, this is not a pig, but a railway cow, judging by the eyes with greetings! Very good quality - thank you! Health and success in the future! The cow is very cute!!!
Bergens banen kjøre til Ål stasjonen
Great video
A magnificent ride, 'HinduCowGirl!
I'm followed it from te start, you're long walk (haha)
Still tw3enty min's to the end and stil not bored, thank you for this beautifull stream.
J.C. Moes. Lelystad the Netherlands.
Wow, you walked so much! It must have taken you an hour or two just to get to the depot. And then your loco is the last one parked literally all the way in the back.
I really enjoy the behind the scenes stuff of a trainer driver and prepping a train for its scheduled run. It's my favorite part now because it is so rare we get to see this. A lot of people might see this is boring but it definitely is not to me.
Think it usually takes about 25 minutes to walk :) HinduCowGirl pace :p
YAS 👑
The trains moving !
Cool video
Great video but that's one helluva walk at the start!
Haha, I love the beginning girl! Going through that nice little skate park, it almost looked and felt like a parkour or freerunning video, lol. ;-)
Oh I was sooo tempted :)
Hehe, I knew it!
@@RailCowGirl you did an excellent video!💖🙂👍 Please have a look on my channel. I have some interesting cabrides taken between: Bogojevo -Erdut ; Erdut - Bogojevo ; Vințu de Jos - Sibiu ; Sibiu - Brașov ; Brașov - București Nord ; Fetești - Constanța . Have fun! Best regards from south Transylvania the heart of Romania!
Here the 4 eastbound trains to meet on single track (beginning @ Gulskogen): 53:23 freight (timber) El14 @ Mjøndalen; 1:29:28 Express with El18 @ Tyristrand; 2:10:30 freight with El16 @ Trolldalen; 2:29:25 freight with traxx3 187 401 - 5 @ Bergheim.
Intersting trip. Liked the early dry spring with sun.
At the beginning looks like a treasure hunt , anyway an other great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Cool ride. You guys are going FAST. Love it. Wish we had more train travel opportunities here in the US. -Henry
Not quite as enchanting without lots of snow, but still quite enjoyable.
Do you really have to walk THAT far? And go through all those alleys and narrow paths? Crazy !
Yep, it's a nice walk, really :D Unless the weather is completely crap.
Interesting video. This has got to be the most expensive railway on the planet since it seems the engineers elected to build about half of it in tunnels. Above ground, well, just what one would expect --- typical beautiful Norwegian scenery.
It wasn't as if they had a choice, really. Even the flatter bits of Norway are hard work on a push-bike. The line to Narvick is even worse! The reason they made the line through such intractable countryside was Bergen - a port that had access to the North Sea and Atlantic trade routes - being linked with the Capitol city.
I'm well aware of Norway's topography and the necessity of building bridges and tunnels in lieu of excessive grades and/or even longer stretches of track. Sometimes there's no alternative . . . the geology ( a lot of rock) permits some construction savings, but the cost is still high for a country with a relatively sparse population.
Wow! It's a day's work just getting to the train, lol
😂
прикольно в начале снято
Zu Beginn des Videos gewinnt man ja den Eindruck, als solle die gesamte Strecke zu Fuss zurückgelegt werden.
I like the city
Morsomme begynnelsen av videoen. Folk er så opptatt med telefonene sine, de trenger ikke engang se på sine føtter... :) Takk for video!
Very nice video! I've been to Oslo in march, coming from Trondheim and leaving to the airport. Actually the platform I arrived from Trondheim was the same you departed to Ål. So nice to see it again! It was a very nice trip to Norway! By the way, what is the maximum speed on the Bergen line? According to the Wikipedia, the NSB El 18 locomotives can reach up to 200km/h, but I don't know if there are any parts of the Bergen Line that this speed is possible. Thank you!
The loco will always be limited by the max speed of the cars it’s pulling. The B7 and B5 are limited to 160kmh, whilst the sleepers m, WLAB2, is limited to 150kmh.
The max speed on the Bergen line is 160kmh
I love those wooden masts of the overhead line. Does any other country use wooden masts? They seem to serve their purpose pretty well.
I love your videos. Do you ever see any moose when you are driving train??
What weather conditions do you prefer driving the trains in autumn/winter or spring/summer? personally I like your winter vlogs I’m always impressed by how countries like Norway and indeed the other Scandinavian countries can maintain such a service with all that snow.
Of course you’ve probably had a lot of practice over the years here in the U.K. the system falls apart in bad weather.
That said I’m looking forward to going on HS2 if it’s ever built 👍
Before I die, I wanna get me ass to norway! And also, board that train! I will pay any price for it...
Long walk to get to work.
Hi HCG- yet another great video. A question, when you refer to 'technical station'' at various points, some sites have no actual station platforms, or what appear to be disused stations, are these sites what we in the UK would call 'passing loops'?
Technical stations are just sidings where trains can meet, nothing more. So a station without platforms for passengers.
I did not know life was so fast paced in Oslo. He He.
LOL! Too much Coffee :p
Beautiful video. If your day ends far away from where you live do they put you in a hotel???? Many Thanks!
They do :)
Excellent HCG! Starting at the hotel shows what it is to be a driver. Long walk though! One question: What is the difference between blinking green and steady green?
Blinking green is a Distance signal. It gives you the aspect of the connected main signal.
blinking Green = 2 greens in the Main signal
blinking yellow = Main signal is in aspect STOP
Blinking green and yellow = Main signal shows 1 green = Proceed with reduced speed.
hi HCG, just wondered with all the thawing going on, what was the temp at the time of you filming this? thx so much! great vid as usual!
Just not the same without 3ft (1m) of snow on the ground.
Looks Like they were hiding the loco from you
Wowee! I'm just now getting back into your videos after total knee replacement surgery. I've not been able to spend quality time at my 'puter other than the bare necessities. Starting here. Hahaha - just the 4 minute high speed walk to your engine wore me out. :D
Speaking of which, do you get to stand at the "helm", or is it all sitting once you're on the mooooove?
Enjoyed the walk around Oslo. Trouble is, you Norwegians walk too quickly!!!😆
😂
There's something equally parts amusing and weird seeing walking people sped up
long walk! nice day for it though... (could they have parked the loco any further away?...)
Hehehe! Nope :p
Are you coming back tomorrow? Hope so
Id like to see some speed info! :-)
Hi HCG
The train sitting on the side track at Hønefoss with the empty log cars. Where was that headed to?
Ghost station at 18:00!
No.. this is zombie station
Depots seem to be much the same here - not always easy to get to, and surrounded by construction sites. Great trip!, and something I've been wanting!
I have been watching and enjoying for several months. Why no narration or radio chatter? As I watched just now a train passed going the other way. Where is it from, what type of train is it? You have a gorgeous country, I would love to learn more about it as you travel across it.

Just after you start moving what is the rising noise in the background? Blowers for the electric motors?
A side question: at Vikersund, there had been three freight cars on an unconnected track section, by the freight house I think, and which had been graffitied for a long time. (Sigh. Even Norway has taggers.) On today's run, though, these three cars were gone. Did NSB or Bane NOR get a crane to lift the cars out?
They were removed, don't know where they took them, but I suspect they're at the transportation museum at Hønefoss :)
@@RailCowGirl -- Thanks for the answer.
Are those 700's new stock, or just not used on your routes?
The Class 70? It used to run Skien - Lillehammer before the FLIRT Class 74 was introduced. Now they’re just used in extra trains during rush hour.
Interesting @18:00 -- what was that? A platform in a now-abandoned station?
Platform at what was planned to be Elisenberg Station, but those plans were canned as the station would be a bottle neck in the system. A short time after they opened Nationaltheateret station, they closed everything again to build a new platform with two new tracks. it was at that time they decided to not open Elisenberg,
@@RailCowGirl Amazing the civic history behind ten seconds in a video. Think of the planning, the meetings, the contracts, the physical labor behind that abandoned station. Wow.
Thanks!
What are those flashing yellow light in tunnel? Some sort of guidance or safety system?
that weird "kink" in/on the (left) track at 6:46
Hehehe yep :) the track was still not adjusted after som work done there earlier :)
Could someone please enlighten me. what was the station at 18:00 for and why was it abandoned?
also
at 34:52 there is a disconnected siding leading into the hillside (seen Dale as well), what were/are they for - or was it something military?
Elisenberg was never opened. And they never finished the connection to the surface.
The “disconnected” tracks you’re referring to are the tracks they move the generators on for service. Those caves in the hill side is the power supply :)
@@RailCowGirl Ahhh. Thank you
What camera do you use?
Did we actually get an answer as to what is a Technical Station. Sorry if I missed it.
No you didn't a technical station is just a place where to trains can meet. No platform for passengers. :)
Oh right, what some countries call a passing loop/siding
Sandivka 🙂
Thanks for watching! :)
