    Beautiful raincoat.
    Tip if you want it - To get the wrinkles out, try a hair blower, warm up a part of the pvc and cool it down with a heavy book a few minutes. Or use a metal household container of some sort filled with warm water, 40-60 degrees Celsius, and cool down with a book. Look for a container with a flat bottom, and please try on some scraps to get the amount of heat right first. To hot will leave bubbles in the material.
    (This is the tip I give to my coustomers buying pvc table cloth)
    Have a nice day

    Good job!!! Today I found a lightweight Home Dec vinyl in Joann’s Fabric and with the coupons I got $4.99 a yard. Right away I knew I wanted to make a raincoat with it. I came home and typed in sewing a raincoat and your video popped up.....now I’m really inspired to make it. Thanks for sharing!!!!

    That is adorable. What a great idea . For the needle holes, the seam line could be sealed with Fray Check applied with a paint brush on the wrong side of the fabric, I would think or rubber cement might work.

    super cute! I never would have thought to use one for a rain coat. The buttons really elevate it. I have not had any luck free styling patterns so I'm just going to find a cute one that I like and give this a go the next time I find a cute PVC table cloth.

    I'm so into the idea of making my own raincoat! I've been looking for years but can't seem to find one that looks nice and actually comes in my size. Re: the seams: there's a special type of seam sealing tape you can buy to, well, seal the seams and make them waterproof! Probably a good idea for any rainclothes tbh.

    Rub a white piece of wax (candle, or paraffin) over the stitch holes to seal them.

  • @davidballoid2118
    @davidballoid2118 4 года назад +5

    I had an idea to add, you could always dab the stitch holes with a waterproof pvc compatible glue that drys clear or white to match the base color of your coat. All an all it turned out great, and looks good on you too. I hope you get some positive feedback from the creativity that went behind it, you certainly have mine!

    Wrinkles? Ha! Heat up your cloths dryer on low for 10 minutes, then put your raincoat in for 2 minutes. That will heat up the vinyl enough and you can smooth out the wrinkles.

    Take an embossing gun over unwanted holes it will heat the pvc enough to fill holes. And use wondaweb hemming tape over the parts you've hemmed on the sewing machine fo extra durability and water proofing. Also a glue gun is useful for pvc fabrics.

    My friends worked as a pa, she told me if you pack something that wrinkles a lot in a suit case you should roll it around something else (like jersey clothing, underwear etc) instead of folding it. Also you can hang something on a hanger in the bathroom while taking a hot shower.(just be sure it is completely dry before you wear it) I tied both & it does help a lot if you can’t bring an iron or steamer.

      Thank you! Steaming in the bathroom while I shower has helped a bit, it hasn’t rained in my country much lately 💔 but I think with wear the creases will come out. As for cleaning, you can just wipe it down with a cloth and I might just try hand washing it if I need to 😊

    Very very nice coat! Just a suggestion, but instead of top stitching, and also with the creasing issue, could you possibly use an iron on the lowest setting and a thick pressing cloth? I have used this method with that type of table cloth in the past with pretty good results. You just have to be really careful.😃
