  • Full project time lapse of a complete backyard makeover with custom deck that we built around a hot tub! We built bench seating all around the hot tub and included an outdoor kitchen to top it off. On the side of the deck with built a custom privacy wall with deck boards and pavers as an accent. This deck build was one of my favorite backyards yet!

It’s a shame all that good work and they built right on top of the dirt. Give it 5-6 years and it will all be rotted from the bottom

I am a layman. But I am amazed that they built directly on the earth. Don't you remove it beforehand and put in sand or gravel or something?

Better hope you never need to do repair work on that tub!

With the cost of lumber in June 2021, this is over a mil dollars. Lol

Bit confused: don't you need to build that on a concrete/solid base and weather treat the wood? Won't it just rot away in a decade or so?

Every single Jacuzzi Outlet, store or company that we engaged ALL stated to us that we were not to cover up the four sides of the jacuzzi via construction and/or decking. That if it needed a service (new pump, address leaks as such) there would be no way that the technician would have access to the guts of the jacuzzi. I see here that you did. How much I love the look, these representatives have a very valid point. Thoughts ?

Not sure if it’s possible but I’d love to see a cost breakdown on something like this

It’s all fun and games until you have a leak and can’t get into the hot tub without tearing the deck apart... people don’t think about that... like the people I bought my house from and had to do just that lol very expensive

The title of this ought to say, "How not to build a deck"

This was a beautiful installation. I was hoping to get a few ideas as I am getting prepared to install the hot tub electrical for a client. The only item that I may suggest including would be the electrical distribution for the hot tub, power, and lighting. As an electrician, it would be nice to see where the GFCI disconnect was positioned and how the cable was brought to the tub. This would also benefit any homeowner planning to get an idea of the full scope of the installation.
