Hey Tajae'. I like your hair and I like when you said "They need to "Do Better". I think you should make that your catch phrase. You've inspired me to "Do Better". Also, your videos are outstanding.
The beer industry is the worst for the simple fact that as a driver who have rotate the beer so if you deliver 200 cases in a store and the next time you go to that same store and they are 100 cases in that corner, you've got to get the old beer out of the spot put the newer beer in place (another 100) of the 100 beers (numbers may vary) and then put back the 100 cases on top of those other 100, now picture doing this for 15 stops bruh...that aint it
@@juans0516 it’s like that with Pepsi especially with those 12 packs and 24 packs of 20 oz’s😂 and they will be very upset if you don’t rotate that stuff
I worked food service delivering produce. Usually between 120-320 cases per day, up to 8-11 stops. Bananas, strawberries, grapes, apples etc. Can't do otr with the CPM pay anymore since customers waste so much time. Too much unpaid work too. Nice video T Woods
I work at McLane with a liftgate. We get a lot of beverage (beer/soda) guys because the pay is shit over there and the work is easier for them at foodservice. This is in FL it may be different elsewhere.
I was a professional chef for 30 years (before I retired and now am trucking because of the adventure and challenge) The wine, spirits and specialty/import beer delivery guys were ripped, making great money and stayed very local. I don't know about soda, cheap beer. The words don't even sound good 😂
I worked for Pepsi for a month and a half. Moved to them after McLane due to Pepsi being closer to my house. But they work you like a dog and they only paid like $800-1000 a week. They didn’t pay for downtime. You have to wait for your customers to check you in before you go to the next store. Then you have to stock up and rotate product. It is very time consuming on those parts. Which makes a delivery day longer and this is not including traffic. They work 5-6 days a week. She is right that you do multiple jobs at once and get paid for one. Honestly, if I was a new driver I wouldn’t do this company cuz it’s just a big headache. You can start off at McLane or PFG. I prefer McLane cuz they pay more and are more organized than PFG. And they only work four days a week. But yea thanks for the info. Good luck to those new drivers.
Love working at pepsi! 90k a year, awesome benefits, home for 3pm most days. Is it hard work?? Absolutely, you either get after it or you just complain and job hop ive noticed with other drivers I've met.
I do milk load to grocery stores. Minimum handbombing, just need to take off skids with power jack on the dock. But off course the smaller trucks who deliver to small convenience stores have lots of manual work to do but money is good and it keeps you physically fit.
I work for a construction millwork company have to hand unload or help unload at the jobsite with the contractors and believe me its labor intensive but it is nothing compared to beverage delivery ..love this topic discussion ty
I’ve been at Pepsi for over 5 months now I was going to quit my second week but for some reason I’m still here… they hired me when I was fresh out of cdl school 😂 it’s backbreaking work and we get treated like crap… be up supper early. It’s starts off hourly then when you get a set route it’s commission… the time you start and end all depends on you (as long as it’s before 6:00 am) and if they send help or not which is rare if they do… Also They don’t care if it’s a hurricane happening they want those sodas delivered 😭It’ll really mess with your mental.
@@JoashUnplugged yes the pay is good if you have a lot of cases on your truck and yes I’m still here actually going on 8 months now. I’m still not as fast as other drivers when it comes to stocking but I get back to the warehouse at a decent time. Still looking for another job but it’s like no one is hiring.
I know down here in the south a lot of the Coke and Pepsi delivery drivers bring the product and as TW stated merchandisers stock the product, I only have interaction with them at the Walmarts so I don’t know how they deliver the product to the mom and pops stores probably hand trucks. Still wouldn’t want to do that job
After 7 years has past since your convictions, you can apply for a hazmat and a TWIC as long as you don't have any sexual convictions or murder. After you obtain them, jobs are everywhere because the companies no longer care because you have federal clearance.
Also, apply for your TWIC first. If they clear you (which they probably will), that means that you have already passed the background check and are 100% good to go on a hazmat.
don't apply right now in a bad economy because companies get really picky during the slow season try applying in a busy season maybe at the start of summer next year
Working with beer is not fun. On top of dealing with cases, most of which are aluminum cans and glass bottles. The kegs are make it or break it, especially if the bar requires the kegs to be delivered down a flight of steps.
@@slimm-xh9jd well I would’ve went to a better CDL school. Honestly, I would’ve waited until I moved up here to PA and went totally the driving academy school in Linden, NJ. OTR is crap. 3 weeks out 3 days home with most companies. 1k a week. Unhealthy lifestyle
I had No life as a OTR driver. Stay out 4-8 weeks just to get 3-4 days off and get in trouble if I stay home longer when they go home every night 🌙
Get a dedicated route 5 days on weekends off.
