Thanks for your oppions! you are one of the only people with real videos of the 01 :) i'm looking forward to buy it and replace my P64 wich will then become my Filter grinder ... with SSP Lab Sweets inside. i really like the "lagom" appraoch of keeping it simple, no displays no fancy electrics, just pure power and size! perfect for a home user that only wants the best espresso no matter what! the thing with the sticky thread is a bit concerning, really looking forward to the lube they told you about, maybe they will fix it in production with later models (so as the motor, not that it bothers me, but more silence would be nice). again, thanks for your insights!
To be honest I wouldn't be too worried about the stickiness. If you don't have another high end grinder to comparte to, is something you won't even notice. It's just nitpicking.. The grinder is amazing and super well built. Only used a P64 once, so if you're used to that expect even better. SSP lab sweets sounds an amazing combination to go along a 01 with mizen burrs.
Key is conical, 01 is flat. Flat is definitely better for lighter roasts so of course you enjoy it more. I have been using my P100 for over a year with HU burrs and now with Mizens and it’s seriously a perfect grinder. Hard to pull a bad shot with the right beans, which is why I locked in one roaster for the past 3-4 years.
I've tried today again (both espresso and a coarser grind), and there was no real difference. Today we had a quite high humidity day, so maybe on my previous tests I had a dry day and then RDT could make a difference. However, to be honest, I don't think is something you need to consider all the time. Will upload a video showing both with and without RDT.
Here goes the promised video: ruclips.net/video/TePs7oa9I7Y/видео.html As you can see, no real difference between using RDT or not. RDT might help on really dry days though. Will use daily without RDT to check performance with varying humidity conditions.
Sorry I took some time to get back to you! Did a recording of both the magic tumbler as well as the blind shaker. Check them here: ruclips.net/video/OiVMmWgphDI/видео.html
Thank you for your review! How do you think is P01 good for the only one grinder at home? I mean is also good for darker roast bean and milk based drinks?
I don't drink and haven't tried the 01 with dark roasts (only mid to light beans). However the 01 works great either for straight espresso, milk drinks or pour overs. So yes, it should work perfectly as your only grinder.
Usually the other large bur flats have thinner body, the lagom are shots are high clarity and also good body ? Does it work well with more standard shot rations such as 1 to 2 for a light roast, or do you find you usually need to do a longer ratio like 1 to 2.5 or 1 to 3? how does it do with medium to darker roasts?
Hi, I've tried a medium roast 1:2 ratio with great results. Body is thick and syrupy, but I have to say that i'm using a lever profile, so that might also help on giving a better body. I don't use darker roasts, had bad results with high clarity grinders before.
@@FerchoVallese thats great to hear. Are you able to get a good extraction with a light roast espresso using 1:2 ratio? or does it usually require more output?
Hi What do you do for your living? This is very expressive equipment...it will be nice if you can share... I wish one day I will be able afford my self such equipment like you have
Thank you! Do you think the issue of the inner zeroing ring shifting when you turn the grind adjustment ring can be resolved by sufficiently/properly tightening it? Can you elaborate on why you don't like the workflow directly into the portafilter - especially since you felt the dosing cup wasn't as nice as the Weber? I am bummed one may still have to use RDT.
I think that with tightening a bit more the issue will be resolved. I haven't had another issue since tightening a bit more than before, so maybe it was just not tight enough. Regarding direct portafilter use, I think that in my case when using the pesado portafilter (which I love but it's heavier than other portafilters), it just feels more cumbersome. My workflow with the PF holder looks like this: 1. removing the PF from the machine 2. putting on the dosing funnel 3. sliding the PF in the lagom PF holder. 4. after grinding giving it a slight nudge to make sure all grounds are inside the basket and not even close to the rim (if not they will fall when removing the funnel - remember I use the moonraker so i don't directly WDT with the funnel on). 5. removing the funnel and doing WDT with the moonraker. WIth the dosing cup, it's just grinding in the cup and then putting the cup in the PF. Then the moonraker goes on top of the PF. Maybe if you're using a normal WDT, then the portafilter holder makes more sense as you're more likely to use a funnel at some point anyway.
Does the grind adjuster gets more harder to turn when getting to zero? or is the same feeling all the way from coarse to zero? Another thing, did I hear it correctly that there is a clicking noise when you get to zero?
Hi! Same feeling all the way to zero. No clicking noise in zero, as long as the limiter is adjusted properly (it shouldn't allow the burrs to touch each other).
It actually does! Will suggest just adding at thin felt film on the bottom to stop it from potentially scratching the aluminum on the 01. Some scotch tape will also probably work.
Thanks for the follow up. I'd definitely like to see more videos of the grinder in action.
Check the video I just uploaded, there are a few more to come with the 01 in action. Also a video regarding the noise and a lid later in the week.

Yes would love to see why you seem RDT to be still nessesary for coarse grinds

The 01 smokes the key
Could you show it grinding into a blind shaker? Thanks for the good videos.

Thanks for asking! I do a few things, but mostly stuff related with brand protection and anti-counterfeiting.
Thank you!

Ty for the video! Have you also experience with the orbit?:-)
Not really! Had the Eureka Mignon, Atom 75, Key and 01.

Hi do you still like the grinder? The endgame grinder 01 p100 eg1 flat max are something to dream about
Yes, still in love with it. Really can't find any negatives to be honest.
Just wondering! Does the weber key magic tumbler magnet works with the P01?
It actually does! Will suggest just adding at thin felt film on the bottom to stop it from potentially scratching the aluminum on the 01. Some scotch tape will also probably work.
