How come you were able to choose which NRC you want to go to? I’m going into the navy reserves, coming from Air Force reserves. The recruiter told me I’ll be drilling out of an NRC in Boston, 45 minutes from me. How come I don’t get to choose?
The Navy choose what is within a 50 mile radius from your home address. If you don't have one within that, they choose the nearest one. Mine had to change because I moved from Colorado to GA ( I wasn't gonna pay out of pocket to go up there once a month).
Any recommendations for best Direct Commission officer jobs? I have undergraduate in electrical engineering and masters in systems engineering I am Air Force E7 First Sergeant Thanks for you videos and help
You have a short period of time to request your own unit via 'my Navy assignment'. If you don't choose during that time then one will be assigned for you.
On compound?!?! 👀 We are not the cartel. 🤣 Just kidding. Where you stay depends on the location of your NRC and whether you stay 50+ miles out or not. You will most likely be staying in a hotel that is not on base.
Yes, however not always. But just go in thinking you'll always have one and you'll never be shocked when someone is in your hotel room with their stuff all over the place. 😬
@@healer246 I'm literally 55 miles away from home. I could just drive but with lodging I get breakfast, dinner, gym access, and nice backgrounds for my RUclips videos. 😅
Navy Reservists like their fellow civilian citizens are distributed across the US (and the globe), whereas the commands that have billets (jobs) for Navy Reservists tend to be concentrated in fleet and other joint base areas - the reality of those two different distributions drive Navy Reservist travel
3:05 it takes about 5 years before you really internalize all the NR lingo (and what it all actually means for your NR career)
Yeah the more involved you are the easier it is to understand.
So much information, this was awesome! Thank You 🙌🏻
Glad it's helpful. Please let me know what other type of questions you have about the Navy.
Beautiful content 👌 I'm watching as much as I can, to grasp info, I might have missed over the years, . Iam a returning Prior Sailor, 0f 13 yrs...
Sooo glad to be back

Must sign your name ;) put out part 2 please
Part 2 will be a day in the life.
Part 2 is out
You mentioned TRUIC change; do you have a billet at an NRC Atlanta unit yet?
Yup😁
Did you have to do anything to get assigned to a unit or did they contact you?

Can you stay on compound during your weekend as a reservist?

Quick question, if I’m only a few miles for my NRC, am I able to go home? Or do I have to stay there
Yes! You only get lodging if you are over 50 miles from your house.
Do you like the Navy Reserve? Just curious
Yeah, for the most part. I like the flexibility it gives me.
I love the Navy Reserve. It is flexible and still you can commit to service to Country.
Do you get a roomate when you get a hotel on drill weekend?
Yes, however not always. But just go in thinking you'll always have one and you'll never be shocked when someone is in your hotel room with their stuff all over the place. 😬
@@NavyTransitionCoach I’m happy I drill local.

Please is it possible to have a one on one conversation with you?
No, not at this time.
@@NavyTransitionCoach when will it be be a good time for you? I had like to know more about converting from active to reserve
Why don’t you live closer? It sucks that you have to get a room to stay to do your duty.

It's the closest NRC. Some ppl live farther than I do. I like that I get to stay in a hotel. Lol
