So, if you factor that in, in the civilian world she would have to make $2500 to net $2k, assuming 25% income tax rate as a single person. In short, for a 22 yo making over $60k with just a GED requirement to enlist, that is hard to beat. However, while that is a big incentive to enlist, you should be enlisting primarily due to a desire to serve our country and consider the pay and benefits as a side bonus.

All services have the same basic pay for ranks based on time and grade. The military has a tricky pay system as there are many incentives but it all depends on one's job and their location. First, don't count the incentives as income and don't include the benefits of purchasing power. They all are perks to entice enlistment to military life. They do not have any benefit outside of military life. And she hit the nail on the head when she said "we should get paid more." For the time away from family, the risk of health and life and removal from soceity to network for a future a gig, the requirement to stay physically fit, they are underpaid and never will be paid their value. That is how capaitalism works. The key thing that was not clarified is that her pay and incentives are based on her military job, her schoolings and her location. So her pay would not be the same for everyone in the Navy with her rank and time in grade unless the had the same job, incentives and location. She briefly hit on the difference in pay for being off shore compared to being on shore. I was in the Army so it was the combat arms that really had the incentives for different schoolings and location for duty. The other trick is for all services is before joining know what incentives are available via research and multiple recrutiers. The recruiters do not always tells recruits what is available to them. So be a hard sell and not an easy sell when dealing with recruiters. The easier it is to reel you in the less they need to tell you. And always have their offerings in writing before signing.

I was in for 6 years with 2 of those at my A and C schools the other 4 assigned to various ships. I never got real shore duty. Oh, just to add, COLA is available in the U.S. in places like NY and I believe some areas of California and elsewhere where BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) does not stack up to the extremely high local cost of living. I had a friend move back to NY on recruiting duty, move in with her mother, and collect BAH, COLA, and BAS, along with other allowances and incentive pay. Hey guys so I’m a jr in high school and I’m thinking about joining the navy, staying in till I get a pension and doing schooling to be an election while enlisted then come out and work in the union for a double pension retirement, just wondering if there’s any flaws in this plan or any good things to know for my situation, thank you!
Don’t assume you’ll like your time in, maybe after your first contract you’ll hate it and you’ll want to leave ASAP, so I’d say play it year by year, you got it though, good luck
IF..You know what I know from yrs of being single in the US Military? You will save every penny or most of your pay. I stayed in for 22 yrs single. Retired as a Master Sgt. When I got out? I had almost 875 thousand saved. and that's not counting my military retirement and a side 401 k with over 4 mil in it which grew from investments. I witnessed soldiers just blowing money on foolishness. Yes I partied but did so under a budget. Just a few words to you service men and women starting out. MAKE A PLAN and stick to it.
If you have no direction or something you want to do, you are young so learn about the benefits of military and about the world and your interests. By going into the military you should be able to give up 4 years of your life to get most of the benefits if not all of them. If you are going the military you should join straight at 18 so you get out at 22 and have plenty of you prime life years left. (any age below 20)
I’m 27 and make $23 hr a federal job but only get 1250 a paycheck. Should I join? I live in expensive hawaii and still live at home. No college. Any advice people? In Hawaii civilians don’t move out until they’re 30 something. It’s mad hard out here if I move to a cheaper state and transfer for my job it’ll only bring my pay down since it’s cheaper there. So Texas is cheap my hourly pay might drop to $16-17hr etc.
Fastrada no $1,250 every 2 weeks. If I go in the military as an E1 I’ll be making. $600 every two weeks. Pretty much my 1 paycheck for a whole month. That’s why idk if I should join. I probably won’t be getting money until my 4th year in. Hustling backwards.
came across your page and I love it. just a quick question how do you pick what ship you end up on after bootcamp and what position you are on the ships.
The Navy picks for you. After boot camp you'll go to A-School. While at A-School they let the sailors make a wish list of their top five preferences for your first duty station, but it's a wish list. Ultimately the Navy is going to send you where they need you.
And you know what’s funny is people will trash you about joining the military let alone the navy, yet I’m makin 3,417 (and that’s just with Virginia’s BAH) a month walking into the navy as an E-1. Im also married with a baby. If I move back to Cali BAH is minimum of 2,500+. Tell me where you can go from making 14$ an hr to 20-25 just like that. My “friends” can keep that shit job/chump change.
You will always get BAS , no matter what, the only difference is if you are attached to a ship it goes straight to the ship so you don’t even see it, if your on shore duty you get your BAS
So correct me if I’m wrong but I make 5k a month now in the civilian world south Florida basically but if I make 4 to 5k a month from military which includes 2400-2800 as an E3 I’d that something I could pocket monthly ? Like I could save 2409-2800 a month and have bah bas cola etc pay for my other expenses plus I have dependents
Yes , but you definitely wouldn’t be making 4 to 5k right out the gate as an E3 . Unless your overseas then probably so if you have dependents as well. But if your stateside you definitely won’t be making that type of money to start . You’d get BAH if you have dependents and then basic e3 monthly pay (check google for the basic pay chart) and then sea pay if your attached to a ship which is only 60$ your first year in as an E3 . For example I was an E5 with 4 years onboard the ship so my sea pay was 550$ extra a month vs the 60$ . So just take that into account
Shesayummy1 Yeah I didn’t know anyone either but as most were officers or senior enlisted and I had to pull the reports to check for inaccuracies and have the commanders sign it and submit to finance every month I think I would know.
if you want to buy a house and your married but overseas will the military pay the rent even though your over seas but your husband or wife will be living in the house
Maritza Contreras you get BAH which should cover the cost of living where your home is. So yes, you will have the money to cover it. They don’t actually pay the rent for you.
I wouldn’t necessarily say no I believe it’s circumstantial. Myself and our son were left in the states and my husband stationed overseas. We couldn’t join him (although we wanted to desperately) He still received BAH to pay rent for the apartment we were in the states, and also received OHA for being overseas and lived off base. It may depend on circumstances but it can be done. He had to do some paperwork but the BAH never stopped for us and he continued to receive OHA. Either way he was able to pay both rents in both countries while still getting the other incentives. This was 2017/2018
She's actually making more than the actual $4800 that is on her LES. The only thing taxable is her $2800 base pay. The additional $2k in benefits are non-taxable. Very helpful!!!
1 your gorgeous😍 2 I was gassed when I saw you uploaded 👀😊
Clothing allowance really! That’s dope. I thought that the only way for me to live off base was to have a child or be married. Thanks for clearing that up. What is your rate as well? I want to enlist as a AC do you know if they rank up quick?
I’m an OS love and I’m not too familiar with the aviation rates
I’m an AC, and yes, we rank up pretty quickly.
Jaunté Love did you enlist as an E1 first? Also how long have you been enlisted!
@@quannyewithquality5674 No, I came in as an E3 because I had college under my belt. I made E4 and E5 quickly, and taking the E6 exam this year. I have been in for 4.5 years. My friend who is an AC has been in the same amount of time as me, and she just made E6.
Jaunté Love my navy friend has been in for 8 years and I believe he’s a E6 as an engineer. He told me that if I come in with my associates then I can rank up to a E3 or just get a boot camp job
I LOVE how she says the military should be paid more when she makes $1400 on the 1st and the 15th of every month, and then she is being covered for housing allowance and food and sea pay. you aren't rich by how much you make. you are rich by how much you save and look at how she dresses she has some very nice clothes so I see where some of that money is going XD but very good video. I'm joining in fall and I'm looking up all these videos before joining. very informative and helpful.
Zenez is my PRESIDENT!!!!!😍 great info
Thank you love !!
When I was in army we could choose twice a month or end of month. Your choice.
Lol I’m a Engineer intern at 19 years old making about 5k a month while in school. I though my friends making 7000 had it good, maybe I have it better than I thought lol
You have got to be extremely lucky but good on ya, i personally have never seen an intern job pay 16+/hr and that was in LA
How?
Civilian bi weekly you get 26 pay periods, military only get 24, I guess that 1 month they keep is for health care.
Good video! The military benefits stay with you for life even after you leave right?
Umm it depends on how you leave . If that makes sense
I love you and your videos Zenez ❤❤❤❤
Awww thank you !
I’m not sure which branch is the best for dental work. I love the navy. I have it in mind as well army and Air Force. I can’t decide which do you think is best??
Ooouuu the Navy gotta BAAD one here... she Air Force Women GORGEOUS!!! 😍🥰
Hi z another great video! Thanks 😊 I’m glad you talk about the foreign language pay! I speak French and I wanna b YN or linguist idk if that’s the right name) in the navy! So with the drafting and everything going on I was thinking I should just do YNFS would I get these bonus too? Minus sea pay?? And the pays are net pay or bfr taxes! But lol great thumbnail! I legit thought u were gonna show me your LV 😅Thank you! 💕💕💕💕💖
Chantale Cherry they make u take a linguist test . It’s kinda hard, but u have to take that to qualify
@@freddyvicunamoreno883a bit harsh but true
Not her posting a haul with her military check 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Am gonna end up like this lmfao
What carrier did you choose for the navy military to be able to travel like you do ? What requirements did you need?
I’m not on a carrier I’m on a destroyer , the USS MASON
My dad was in the navy before i was born i am 30.
What rank can you live off base (single) at the navys expense?
E5
Got damn better than Army
IF..You know what I know from yrs of being single in the US Military? You will save every penny or most of your pay. I stayed in for 22 yrs single. Retired as a Master Sgt. When I got out? I had almost 875 thousand saved. and that's not counting my military retirement and a side 401 k with over 4 mil in it which grew from investments. I witnessed soldiers just blowing money on foolishness. Yes I partied but did so under a budget. Just a few words to you service men and women starting out. MAKE A PLAN and stick to it.
Why I thought the same thing when I got to basic training 😫😫😫🤯🤯😂😂😂😂😂
I’m 13 and I was thinking about joining the navy I live in Michigan and I don’t know should I?
22 In Michigan too joining soon and yes you probably should especially at a younger age (18) don't wait too long.
You should do a video on how to rank up in the navy
I will love it’s coming soon
STUDY!
1250 a week ?
Fastrada no $1,250 every 2 weeks. If I go in the military as an E1 I’ll be making. $600 every two weeks. Pretty much my 1 paycheck for a whole month. That’s why idk if I should join. I probably won’t be getting money until my 4th year in. Hustling backwards.
Are you married ?
Fastrada no I’m single no kids no nothing small family brother & mom that’s it.
Fastrada are u in the military?
Thank youuu
LES is for the military period
came across your page and I love it. just a quick question how do you pick what ship you end up on after bootcamp and what position you are on the ships.
The Navy picks for you. After boot camp you'll go to A-School. While at A-School they let the sailors make a wish list of their top five preferences for your first duty station, but it's a wish list. Ultimately the Navy is going to send you where they need you.
Hazard Duty Pay is only 100 Bucks in Bahrain
And you know what’s funny is people will trash you about joining the military let alone the navy, yet I’m makin 3,417 (and that’s just with Virginia’s BAH) a month walking into the navy as an E-1. Im also married with a baby. If I move back to Cali BAH is minimum of 2,500+. Tell me where you can go from making 14$ an hr to 20-25 just like that. My “friends” can keep that shit job/chump change.
Very pretty!
You think u could get at least 3k in total every month if u join for 2 years or 3?
I leave next month on the 5th. I’m going in as pact/sn as well and was wondering if will I most likely be on water or not?
Yes almost all seamen pact go straight to a ship
❤️❤️❤️
Zenez im kenyan living in kenya can i get enlisted or how do i join the usa military and the age limit
About the BAS. If you are married but on a ship, do you get both, sea pay and BAS?
You will always get BAS , no matter what, the only difference is if you are attached to a ship it goes straight to the ship so you don’t even see it, if your on shore duty you get your BAS
They shouldn’t be taxing you you should be able get all of it
You’re in Norfolk? :) awwww yasss
I'm joining in as an e-3
xBoli 😗same
How
@@getpaaiid3244 i did 3yrs of jrotc in high school, im about to finish my 4th year and go to bc after the summer.
All you need is 40 college credits for e-3
Merchant Marine gang I seen like 10k a month at entry level
Do you know any info on going in commission ?
Not really , but I can ask around to a few of my friends that have commissioned what kind of questions do you have ?
Why does everyone act like it’s a requirement to get paid on the first and the 15 there are a lot of people getting paid just on the first.
Sturm breakers if you’re in the military you get paid twice a month.
Shesayummy1 Yeah tell that to the UCFR that your Commander signs every month that breaks down pay date or dates, base pay, entitlements, bonus, etc
I don’t know a single person who only gets paid once a month. All of your entitlements are divided between two pay periods.
Shesayummy1 Yeah I didn’t know anyone either but as most were officers or senior enlisted and I had to pull the reports to check for inaccuracies and have the commanders sign it and submit to finance every month I think I would know.
Sturm breakers If you say so
Do you know if that money for foreign language includes portuguese?
Would you recommend someone joining the navy at age 30
Lol your 5 year mark is on my birthday
I only watch her cuz she is very beautiful
So if you live on a ship you don’t get your BAH correct?
You are entitled to BAH if you have a dependent or you make E5 , at that point you can’t live on the ship ,
and i dont know how to drive that why i will live on base
if you want to buy a house and your married but overseas will the military pay the rent even though your over seas but your husband or wife will be living in the house
Maritza Contreras you get BAH which should cover the cost of living where your home is. So yes, you will have the money to cover it. They don’t actually pay the rent for you.
No, so if you get stationed overseas you will just have to move your family, because at that point you’ll be getting OHA to live overseas
This was 2017/2018
Are you still in the navy December 2020?
Yes
I get about 2400$ a month but i live in the dorms so ig it aint too bad
how?
Outstanding video shipmate! Have you look into being a LCAC Navigator in Japan? AIP is $500 per month 😉
What is your rating?
That's a lot of different pays
You look good
Thank you forgot to mention Gib bill. Would you explain how it works?
