I ordered a set of what I thought were Jazz bristle brushes but the bristles are like nylon spaghetti noodles (uncooked)! lol I'm having fun with them, just a different sound than what I was expecting to make with them
It's really. hard to know what you're going to get! But pretty much anything that won't damage the head can give you some interesting sounds. I'm using the brush beater a lot on songs lately with my band where the softer attack is just what I want under quieter vocal moments
@@mattdeblassmusic NOICE! These brushes actually have a bit more weight to them because of how thick the "noodles" are lol so even though it's heavier than what I was expecting, it's still a fun sound to play with and I'm already incorporating it. the only problem is instead of getting that nice sweeping sound I was expecting from the brushes, it makes a record scratching sound, and then I thought - well maybe I'll make a DJ fresh spin song 😂
I love this drum, it's the nicest I've ever owned! It's made by Christian Hedwitschak in Germany. It's a custom drum, but he makes all sorts of really great stock sizes as well. The whole spec is: HighendLine custom drum 16"/40cm size Figured beech with blue fade finish Dragonskin Spicy (treated goatskin) head Compressor Tuning Ring www.bodhranmaker.de/
I just got my brush beater, gonna take work to dial this in.❤
Have fun with it! I've started using it in sets with my band and sometimes it's just the perfect sound, I'm still experimenting with it though

I'm using the N-EF 6 available here www.bodhran-info.de/en/tippers/effect-tippers/brush-and-felt
That's a beautiful drum! Would you mind telling me the maker and diameter of the drum please?
