Do you live in Alabama?! I just bought my first fox like 4 days ago. Took me 3 years to find the one I wanted. Unfortunately I know 0 history on it but under the hood was the cleanest and most stock that I could find. She is idling rough and drops rpms at about 3k. Been working on it for 2 days using your vids to try and figure it out. I need your help haha I wonder we live close to each other lol. I would love to send you some pics of the car.
Congratulations on your new fox! Sorry you’re having some issues with it.. I know that sucks after just buying it. I wish I could take on subscribers cars but unfortunately I don’t have to the time with a full time job and all the projects going on around the house. Feel free to post further details of how the car is running and any info you can and I’ll pin your comment at the top of the video. I’ll do my best to help as will others on the channel!
@@BREW2LFOXBODY haha I absolutely understand. I have 4 kids that keep me crazy busy with sports. I retired from the military a few years ago so I have plenty of time in the mornings at least lol. I plan to do most of it myself but some things are a bit out of my league. Just a small world I suppose because I have a feeling you live pretty close to me haha. But yeah I will try and give a more in depth of what it is doing. Wish you could see the engine bay I think you would be surprised because I was blown away at how good of condition it was.
Only visible mods the car has is an intake and a sve duel fan radiator. Under the hood is extremely clean and well kept. From the looks of it was a smog car. It fires up every turn of the key. I have replaced the distributor, wires, plugs, oil and oil filter. It had an oil leak from the oil level sensor because the sensor was broke off so I plugged it for now. It does have a small leak from the passenger side valve cover gasket but only when hot. (Gonna break the message into parts.)
I have already done the timing and when I got the car it was at 20 degrees timing. I backed it back down to 14/15 degrees with 93 octane. May try 10 or 12 degrees tomorrow. Prior to doing the idle reset I was able to get it to idle fine last night but I had to go way in with the idle screw and had it idling great at 800 to 900 rpms after reving to make sure the idle was set. Then drove it and drove the best so far but when I got to the gas station the idle jumped up to like 1400. Then this morning I did the factory idle reset and I had to back my idle screw way back down because the tps was at 1.35+. I was only able to move the tps enough to drop it like .10 to .15. Then i fired it up after hooking the iac and letting the computer do its thing it seemed to be working and idling perfectly at about 650 to 700. Then I drove it and it was the worse since I have had it. Ill go into detail of what its doing when I drive it next.
So when I first test drove it, it felt strong but it would cut off on me at stop signs. Also when about 50% to 75% throttle the RPMs would just drop off about 500 to 1k at about 3k RPMs and then jump right back up and keep going up. Sudden hard drop of RPMs. The car was definitely bucking in 1st and 2nd so im assuming there is a vacuum leak some where that I will search for tomorrow. Last night when I got the car to idle at 800 to 900 rpms with the IAC unplugged and drove it, it felt great and it didnt drop rpms on the way to the store. Once there the idle shot up to the 1400 and then went back to dropping rpms hard again. After the idle reset today and I drove it, it started driving real bad bucking again and dropping rpms multiple times through each gear at 75% throttle and some times even when just cruising and not gaining speed. I drove it to my kids practice to let the comp learn and when I got there it cut off and was having a hard time start back up. So I unplugged the IAC to at least get it to idle a bit better and to see if it would help with the rpm drops on the way home but it didnt.

ON3Performance really changed the game about 10-12 years ago when they came out. Vendors hated them because there prices were so cheap. You can get a full turbo kit under 3k. Keep in mind back then every ones turbo kits were complete were $5,000-6,000 for a complete kit and sometimes even more with Hellion. Vendors were bashing ON3 , a lot of forums didn't even like them talking about ON3 because they were taking over the turbo kit market and these other vendors would be sponsored on their forums. The truth is these kits made it so that not only the people with a ton of money could boost there cars. There are some horror stories with the ON3 set up but that was years and years ago and every company has that issue from time to time. They changed the game and made everyone's cost come way down. No one can compete with a company that offers a full kit for half the cost of there's. About 10 years ago when me and my friends put one on his , it was 100% stock with a catback exhaust and made 372hp and 432tq on a mustang dyno on #9 psi. Car was a ton of fun, later on we added a hci to it and tuned it ourself with a Pimp ECU. (we had zero tuning experience) and really should have brought it to a tuner but the car still went 11.6 in the 1/4 with a 10.0 AFR (10.0 is as low as the gauge would read) so who knows how rich it really was haha.
ON3 is when I started watching you. What you do for a living was a big question that's kinda died off. Im starting to think you're a car sales manager. The more you say I'm gonna be honest with you, the less I want to believe you, lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am goin with a CSU blowthru carb with a novi 2000 built. I have had turbo, nos, n just super charger. My last 347 was just a na motor. But I'm goin to be building a 408 this time with a blow thru carb. Im not sure if I am goin to go with E85 right now cause where I live is no gas stations with E85 n your right 2 exact motors isnt gonna run the same. I love turbo cause it's free hp in like the super charger, but every one I kn is running either EFI n turbo or Carb with turbo. Nice video thanks.
Thanks a lot for this video. I've been watching your channel for a while now. I'm on the edge of getting one of these kits for my stock motor 86 GT. I'm glad you do a lot with speed density too - we always here "you gotta convert to mass air."
Dang,I can't believe it's been 2 years! Time flies when you're having fun. It's held up outstanding for the bang for the buck vs horse power gains. It's all the supporting mods that eat up the funds, lol. And I'm highly impressed with the Holly terminator x computer system. I think I'm going to purchase the Holly system x in stay naturally aspirated for the time being. I think the car will run like it's supposed to with an upgraded not outdated computer system!👈💯🔥
Thanks for the video, I’ve been trying to make my mind up for 3-4 years on what the hell im actually going to do with my fox when I finish college, the answer looks clear to me now 🙌
That joker is still amazing! I would definitely do a turbo build, cause turbos attend to give you a little more power over supercharging. It would be cool to see that joker with a 2 step. I want to see that joker shoot flames out the tailpipe. That's me!
Just finished installing my kit and tuning with the megasquirt. Runs great. Next is to get some 3.31s an get rid of these 4.10s. NO traction in second and that's my favorite gear to rip it in
a .060 over block is very stiff--most low deck Windsors won't go more than .040 over, and usually they are the ones ready to crack at 500+bhp as a result. Also, at $3,000 (then I assume you have to pay a tuner to get fuel and ignition systems not to fry a piston), that's stroker territory. which may allow you to use 91-93 octane pump gas, but you'll still want heads, intake and cam to feed it, and that's going to add to the bill (assuming you're comparing a turbo setup to a stock E7 package or an Explorer GT40P that got forged pistons swapped in). But if you can find the fuel to feed it, the turbo can be easily cranked up in boost while the stroker setup will need more cam and head, which can cause streetability issues.
Man time flown by, well such a great topic. For you it think you chose the correct type of boost, especially with the Holley terminator X system you have now. The Calypso has come a long way in 2 years.
Don't have on3 or terminator x but I do have custom billet ceramic bearing 78/60 with mspnp2. Working the build have a ways to-go. Brew2L excellent content . Keep up the good work!
I have a 89 coupe with a 347 stroker sportsman block. Did the on3 76mm with pro-m efi coil over plug kit as well. 80lb injectors with mass air blow through. These kits are amazing for the money. You did a good job Brew2l.
Dumb question for you: When you say you had your passenger side headers "recut," what did the machine shop do exactly to them? And do you what they did to flatten the flanges? I'd like to avoid having the same problem before I even install them and know what to ask to be done. Thanks!!
Superchargers are way way harder on an engine. The amount of added stress and abuse to the snout of the crank pulley just to spin the blower hard enough to make the boost you want tends to snap cranks. Plus, blowers cost a bunch of power to make it on the bigger end. I’ve heard huge Centri blowers to make 30+ pounds would require 3-500 horse to spin it that damn hard. Turbos being exhaust driven is like free power after the purchase. Doesn’t Robb power to make power. Nitrous is definitely cheap to initially get into, but it’s the gift that never ever quits costing. Bottles ALWAYS go empty. And in Canada, they Hella pricey to fill. Just my $.02….
I agree with your points on the supercharger, and will add one more. the stock 302 firing order fires both front cylinders at once, and that will cause stress at the front of the engine block. now if you're running a supercharger and you tighten down that belt...you've added more stress on the front of the crankshaft, and we know Ford changed the weight of the flywheel due to modifications to the reciprocating assembly in the 1980's. "but wait" you say, "the 5.0 HO doesn't use the 302 ignition timing, it uses the 351W firing order". True, but if you buy a cheap cam to put into your 302 and it has a 1960's era grind to it, what firing order is it using? if it's the old 302...now you see why the old guys who hotrodded Foxes in the 1980's and got double digit boost off a paxton hairdryer might have run into block issues....
Been a while since I been by, the People's Fox has turned into a Beast. I agree, something about a Fox with a Supercharger that seems so right. But $ wise, Turbo seems to be the answer.
I know a guy who owns a mustang shop back home (Dayton 5.0 performance) the owner Mike Reyes all he does is Speed density on 90% of his builds of foxes
wow time flies when you get older you have had that turbo for 2 years I started watching when I had idle issues first video was one of the base idle reset helped but ended up being a vacuum leak behind the brake booster had to take it to a shop and I hated it because I pride myself in fixing things myself and not just cars. They had a hard time figuring it out said they were getting ready to give up and found the problem at the last minute.
I have a hellion turbo kit with a old 76mil Turbonetics turbo that has the gold back plate still going and yes I totally agree with you I was running a quarter horse on my 95 Mustang then I decided to get the Terminator X with a set off 1050x injector dynamic and what a difference.
I’d like to see you run it down the track I guesstimate a low 12. If you had slicks maybe high 11’s. That would be a sweet video run it on street tire then slicks.. I believe you would upset some coyotes for sure... you think you could beat 50tussin in the 1/8 him driving his fairmont haha it’s a ripper in the 1/8th.
I really wanted the ON3 kit but they said it would take up to a year to get it. Mines a 95 5.0 I'm guessing thats why it was going to take so long. I went ahead and got a vortech v3 because it was only going to be a 3 month wait. I'm really happy with it and I'm running 10lbs of boost on a stock bottom end
Bro how has it been going i have a sn95 i was going to get nitrous but I’m looking for something more safer on my care . I have stock block as well . Did you run into any issues ?
NA for me. Im afraid I'll blow a head gasket. What I did I sent my GT 40 intake to Bigdogs Porting for a power boost. My intake now flows at 270cfm both bolted together. Check him out at his youtube channel.
This kit still running good? Any problems yet ?I want to throw this kit on my 95 but everyone is telling me negative things about it. The price is way better then buying a new vortech set up
@@williamlane6374 well I had a shop order it for me. Was trying to help them out and support. I’ll give it until December and see what happens. Last I heard on a forum they had over 800 back orders. I chose the terminator x because of the new harness and self tuning capabilities.
Shit... I bought ebay twin turbo kit... I have no tune and I run 10psi boost all day... Its my daily... And I only put 24lbs injectors in.. Stock ecu.. No problems.. Been running since April this year..
I switched from ms2 to terminator x car idles like it’s factory with a decent size cam this winter I’m gonna install the turbo kit on it hopefully I can get 9s but will settle for a 10sec pass
Very helpful man lots of good info I'm going with an almost identical setup on my 94 cobra with a fresh stock shortblock but the top end is close to yours. I'm running the terminator x, my question is why was the speed density easier to tune?

how responsive is the turbo, I’m thinking about buying this for my 78 ford f150 I’m 302 swapping I tow with it every once and awhile and want the extra power
Thanks allot! I found your first video searching on3 then went looking hoping to find a follow up. What’s your opinion on the included blowoff valve and waste gate? @@BREW2LFOXBODY yeah nice bud I went back to bare block 306 now fresh pistons, build gt40p heads, balanced etc. I did go back to carby though so but different
You keep saying turbo is cheaper. You said you spent 3k on the kit, holley system to tune it is 1k , fuel system upgrade will be a more... it just adds up quickly. Nitrous is by far the cheapest power adder. For between $500 to 1k (of you buy everything new) you can have nitrous on the car and go have fun.
I paid 3k for everything but including fuel injectors and pump. You don’t have to have an aftermarket computer. I was comparing a heads, cam intake setup coming from stock. You’ll end up with as much or more than that in the HCI setup and not as much horsepower. But as far power for money goes. Yes nitrous is usually cheaper 👌
@@BREW2LFOXBODY I have an on3 76mm turbo sitting on the shelf in my garage that I would love to put on one of my 350 or 383's but since my stuff is carborated the cost is insane. I could build a blow through setup but just the carborator is 1k. I just can not justify it.... lol
Love the channel and the car. My sn95 has a fried second gear so it’s just sitting there. Fucking 1600 bucks I don’t wanna drop. Have you had any problems w it running hot?
You could have tunes it just fine with the Megasquirt, it just takes time to learn the system. Great freedback on the On3. Stock engine you REALLY need to re-gap rings.
@@ryleyfernandes_1565it's a good idea for safety, but if your engine has high miles on it, its already expanded the ring gap for you. of course, no one knows for sure "how much is enough" until they pull the engine apart...but it's how some folks who "bolted on and gone" got away with it. in the end, a job is only "cheap" if you do it once.

(we had zero tuning experience) and really should have brought it to a tuner but the car still went 11.6 in the 1/4 with a 10.0 AFR (10.0 is as low as the gauge would read) so who knows how rich it really was haha.
the calypso has definitely come a long way!
ON3 is when I started watching you. What you do for a living was a big question that's kinda died off. Im starting to think you're a car sales manager. The more you say I'm gonna be honest with you, the less I want to believe you, lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video that car just keeps getting better !
I have the Holley Terminator X going in and the on3 kit also over the next few weeks!
Gotta love running through the gears into the sunset!!!! Great vid!! And oh yeah GO DAWGS!!!!!!! Sic em woof woof woof!!! 😎!
I’m running the on3 kit with the terminator x also I absolutely love it . There’s nothing like boost lol
I'm loving my ProCharged 93 SVT Cobra mustang
Thanks for the video, I’ve been trying to make my mind up for 3-4 years on what the hell im actually going to do with my fox when I finish college, the answer looks clear to me now 🙌
2 years and only 450 miles of course it's going to last with 450 miles on it.
Ya I want a review of on3 kit with 20,000 miles on it
@@user-pf6wl4hv5jI’m sure he beats on it all of the miles it sees
Thanks for the vid brew2l. Im going to my local shop to have mines installed very soon. And this video is very helpful
✊😎
I’m going turbo on the next car
That joker is still amazing! I would definitely do a turbo build, cause turbos attend to give you a little more power over supercharging. It would be cool to see that joker with a 2 step. I want to see that joker shoot flames out the tailpipe. That's me!
Just finished installing my kit and tuning with the megasquirt. Runs great. Next is to get some 3.31s an get rid of these 4.10s. NO traction in second and that's my favorite gear to rip it in
Did you have any issues as Brewel had regarding street cruiser/race ready/running with megasquirt?
2nd question: auto or manual transmission?
a .060 over block is very stiff--most low deck Windsors won't go more than .040 over, and usually they are the ones ready to crack at 500+bhp as a result.
For you it think you chose the correct type of boost, especially
with the Holley terminator X system you have now. The Calypso has come a long way in 2 years.
Love watching the videos my vote leave the retro alone, make another one lol I’m down for whatever but would love to watch another build
You’re going to get a bunch of you this video 50k plus. Opinion on this was right on time
I had to send my passenger side off to a head shop. To have the header recut and flange flattened. I kept going threw gasket like crazy.
Dumb question for you: When you say you had your passenger side headers "recut," what did the machine shop do exactly to them? And do you what they did to flatten the flanges? I'd like to avoid having the same problem before I even install them and know what to ask to be done.
Thanks!!
I wanted power adder but as a daily driver like my car will be I decided to stay N/A 331 for now
Superchargers are way way harder on an engine.
True, but if you buy a cheap cam to put into your 302 and it has a 1960's era grind to it, what firing order is it using? if it's the old 302...now you see why the old guys who hotrodded Foxes in the 1980's and got double digit boost off a paxton hairdryer might have run into block issues....
i’ve been looking at these for my sn95, been saving for a little
You should check out Torqstorm superchargers for the retro fox. I got one for the 351w I'm building to put in my 86 fox body.
Now that was a bad ass video. My turbo car comes back from the Dino tomorrow I think. Now I really can’t wait
Thanks! Good luck brother!! 🤞
wow time flies when you get older you have had that turbo for 2 years I started watching when I had idle issues first video was one of the base idle reset helped but ended up being a vacuum leak behind the brake booster had to take it to a shop and I hated it because I pride myself in fixing things myself and not just cars. They had a hard time figuring it out said they were getting ready to give up and found the problem at the last minute.
The Calypso Sounds Good On That Boost!!!
Been thinking about power adders. Looking into the torqstorm superchargers.
Nice clean install. Doesn't seem as cramped as other cars eg f-bodys.
I have a hellion turbo kit with a old 76mil Turbonetics turbo that has the gold back plate still going and yes I totally agree with you I was running a quarter horse on my 95 Mustang then I decided to get the Terminator X with a set off 1050x injector dynamic and what a difference.
I've got megasquirt and I am having idle issues all the time! Even with the auto tune! Stock ECU car idles mint, with the megasquirt its hard!
That's why he got away from said company,he couldnt get support to fix issues...
Old school Kenny bell blower?
Love this channel .
switch that turbo out for a precision 6870 with a 1.45 a/r It will spool faster and produce more power with less boost.
Awesome vid. I’m looking at 0n3 kit for my 5.4 4v Fairmont.
I'm loving my ON3.
Glad to hear it is holding up well! How many miles do you think are on it?
Can we get a rerace between you and Cody with the 11' Coyote Car?
That car sounds so damn good!!
Comedic makes a MLS header gasket for the Foxbody 302 and 351w. These should be blow proof.
I’d like to see you run it down the track I guesstimate a low 12. If you had slicks maybe high 11’s. That would be a sweet video run it on street tire then slicks.. I believe you would upset some coyotes for sure... you think you could beat 50tussin in the 1/8 him driving his fairmont haha it’s a ripper in the 1/8th.
i used all the piping hot side and cold and used precision and tial components
I found a guy on Marketplace that had a brand new On3 kit for $1000, I am debating on whether to sell it or put it on my built 306.
Why did they say that?
Bro how has it been going i have a sn95 i was going to get nitrous but I’m looking for something more safer on my care . I have stock block as well . Did you run into any issues ?
NA for me. Im afraid I'll blow a head gasket. What I did I sent my GT 40 intake to Bigdogs Porting for a power boost. My intake now flows at 270cfm both bolted together. Check him out at his youtube channel.
Appreciate your option on on3 turbos I'm on the fence on deciding a set of twins🤔
This kit still running good? Any problems yet ?I want to throw this kit on my 95 but everyone is telling me negative things about it. The price is way better then buying a new vortech set up
Been waiting since March for my terminator x! I’m about to give up!
Damn….. 👀
Yup same here and just do the ProM kit that will only take 3 weeks
@@williamlane6374 well I had a shop order it for me. Was trying to help them out and support. I’ll give it until December and see what happens. Last I heard on a forum they had over 800 back orders. I chose the terminator x because of the new harness and self tuning capabilities.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY you have any inside info that you may know of? Pretty frustrating love the car.
Shit... I bought ebay twin turbo kit... I have no tune and I run 10psi boost all day... Its my daily... And I only put 24lbs injectors in.. Stock ecu.. No problems.. Been running since April this year..
On3 looks like the way to go!
You need one 😎👌
@@BREW2LFOXBODY I really do!
I was hearing as long as your keeping your rpms below 6,000 and it's tuned correctly the whole 500 hp rule splitting your block isn't all that true
It definitely helps 👌
Great tips thanks, why speed density and do you turbo lag ?
I switched from ms2 to terminator x car idles like it’s factory with a decent size cam this winter I’m gonna install the turbo kit on it hopefully I can get 9s but will settle for a 10sec pass
Which one is easier and takes less time to install? Supercharger or turbocharger kit
What Intake are you running? I have an Explorer intake and it just feels like it need more air. Car has stock block, AFR heads, 60lb injectors.
Very helpful man lots of good info I'm going with an almost identical setup on my 94 cobra with a fresh stock shortblock but the top end is close to yours. I'm running the terminator x, my question is why was the speed density easier to tune?
Hey what header package did u go with? Looks like stainless steel? And did u wrap them?
What kind of horsepower numbers should you look at if you go the supercharger route?
350-400 ish depends on how much boost you throw at it.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY gonna be pulling the trigger in the next few months on a fox and id like to add some pep to it without doing a hole coyote swap. Plus i love the sound of the 5.0 roller motors. Thanks for the help, and keep kicking azz with your channel man 👍🏼
how responsive is the turbo, I’m thinking about buying this for my 78 ford f150 I’m 302 swapping I tow with it every once and awhile and want the extra power
Question if the money is not an issue would you do a pro charger or stick with turbo
My on3 76mm kit is for sale.
What transmission do you run behind it? I have a stock T5 with a heavy duty clutch and aftermarket quadrant.
This car deserves some hood struts
Looks like it’s running pretty hard!
Thanks allot! I found your first video searching on3 then went looking hoping to find a follow up.
What’s your opinion on the included blowoff valve and waste gate? Do you know anything about the 67mm turbo they offer as an upgrade?
I’m thinking about this for my stock 302 with a terminator x and coil on plug.
Would love to see the red fox with a supercharger👍🏻
Hey folks did you change pistons etc? Forged bottom end? I've just rebuilt my 302 and never really thought of boost.
I don’t change the pistons unless I’m rebuilding the engine. I use whatever came in the engine.
I’m not a fan of turbo cars too much trouble..I salute you
would you recommend doing head studs while everything is apart?
Yes
You could have tunes it just fine with the Megasquirt, it just takes time to learn the system. Great freedback on the On3. Stock engine you REALLY need to re-gap rings.
Yes but like he said, the TermX system is far superior
Do you think HCI+fuel system are enough supporting mods for an On3 with a low boost tune (5-6psi)? Should the rings be re gapped even on a safe tune?
@@ryleyfernandes_1565it's a good idea for safety, but if your engine has high miles on it, its already expanded the ring gap for you. of course, no one knows for sure "how much is enough" until they pull the engine apart...but it's how some folks who "bolted on and gone" got away with it.
in the end, a job is only "cheap" if you do it once.
What static compression ratio works, do you have a problem with knock?
I’m actually not 100% on compression with the new engine probably around 9:1 with no knock
how much money you think it would be for the turbo kit and everything else needed to get a carbureted engine running!? Total cost to have on3 boost!?
Did you buy the bare bones on 3 kit? I noticed they have a lot of add-on options
Were you able to keep the cruise control with the terminator X?
Any idea on how many miles you’ve put on in these 2 years??
When do you start to feel the boost with the 70mm im looking for a turbi but don't want something that takes a long time to spool
Lol that was great, pick up the phone!☎️
Boost For the Win 🏎💨
I have a 3v yeah I'm not make power without a power adder. 05-10 mustangs are the best looking one and Ford only gave them 300 hp :(
Do u think the 351w kit would work with a 408w and is the 80 the 1700cc injectors
Hell Yeah!!!
