The end product looks AMAZING! Great job and, as many would also, I was taken back to the days of mouse cleaning and being constantly surprised at how much gunk gets inside these things in such a short time ... or maybe that's just because I've generally lived in hovels. The music did make my ears bleed a little, but then that's squarely on me right ;-)
Great video once again Lee. I recently bought an A500 from fleabay that came with 2 tank mice, my A1200 has an Amiga branded newer shaped mouse which I don't like as much so now I have a tank mouse for both.
amazing, i really like the transparent look! i work in a charity shop and we had an amiga come through on my first day, so i was very happy to get to touch one (no monitor to try it sadly). also, the boss recently did some renovations, and a tank mouse with a couple of joysticks cropped up from the back of the shop :)
Love the tank mouse, just not sure I can personally use a clear one. Too much of a purist at heart! However that will make an excellent partner for the A500. Just needs a clear Competition Pro to go with the setup now 😁
Tank mouse FTW, it has this wonderfully basic shape before anyone had even time to think of ergonomics😋 And your 70% isoprop alcohol is the medical desinfectant variant, gets both fat and water soluble dirt.
Ah! Nice to meet you too! I think Neil has some sixth sense when a camera is pointed at him he comes alive. I might have to edit the photo with ai to make it look like he's asleep 😆
@@MoreFunMakingIt ok, no problem. I found some at Mouser and also from CUI devices but they come in a variety of heights, so will have to measure the existing switch in the Amiga mouse. In the past I bought some that were too long. So you like cleaning their balls too! I thought I was the only one. 🤣
Oh! I'd forgotten about that one. I'll have to add to the sweeping statement I made that is every commodore machine sold in the UK. That works doesn't it?

Sorry bout your ears! It was this or badger you to make more music :D

Wise move Phil! Part of that feeling of nostalgia is actually feeling nostalgic things. And the tank mouse is a lovely feeling thing!
Lovely green joystick :D

That was lovely!
No U!

Got one! 😆

That looks like a fine mouse if I have ever seen one 👍
A very very fine mouse indeed!
A500 was my first mouse-d computer. The ole tank is chonky but still holds a special place for me. 👍
It did put a smile on my face just like back then when I got one back on my workbench.
Great work on all the charity renovations! Nice to meet you on Sunday. Did you manage to get pictures of sleepy Neil?

@@MoreFunMakingIt We both know the truth..
"the much more powerful C64", 100% agree. Let the war begin 😂
Farming engagement :D
There's replacement boards that turn them into optical mice, afaik you need to add some weights to get them to not be awfully light.
I did consider that. But this was cheaper and easier.
love the green joystick
Me too!
Do you have a part number for the Omron switches? I could do with ordering a few. Thanks. 👍
I dont, sorry. These have been kicking around in my parts bins for years. No idea why I bought them in the first place!

I was curious as well. They appear to be the Omron B3F-1000 tactile switches.
Funny how the old mouses seem to breed, and before you know it you have a whole colony
Same with power supplies!
When I first saw the Amiga mouse I thought it was awful looking and feeling. I guess I was used to Machintosh and Atari ST.
There was me thinking you were going to make it wireless!
I dont mind a wire :D
That's a great mouse shell for a great Amiga 500. Is the shell a new thing, or was it made a during the Amiga 500 production time?
This is very much a modern thing!
Nice job! Do you have a Max Machine in the auction?
Oh! I'd forgotten about that one. I'll have to add to the sweeping statement I made that is every commodore machine sold in the UK. That works doesn't it?
I could have sworn you can get optical upgrade boards for tank mice. I would pair a new, optical, tank mouse pcb with the new, purple, a500 pcb.
You definitely can do that. But I prefer the feel of a ball mouse for this. Also I have to spend the money wisely to raise as much as possible
