For the first time I have seen foreign travellers exploring Kolkata at dawn. Its mesmerizing... Reminds me when I used to take a morning walk from my house to ghat at 5 am... Many old memories come to live when I watch these videos... Thanks again for exploring the beloved city and gaining new experiences and sharing them with us...
    Much appreciated.

Kolkata, the former capital of India, is not just a city-it’s a timeless emotion, a living canvas of history, culture, and resilience. From the mighty Howrah Bridge, standing as a symbol of strength and connection, to the shimmering lights of Park Street that echo the elegance of a bygone era, Kolkata is a city that feels alive in every corner. The Ganga flows with quiet dignity, carrying the stories of generations, while the bustling markets of New Market, Gariahat, and Mullick Ghat brim with life, color, and unyielding spirit.
Yet, beneath its charm and beauty lies a city grappling with challenges. Years of corruption and misgovernance have slowed its development, leaving its people to struggle against crumbling infrastructure and unfulfilled promises. But Kolkata’s true essence lies in its people-their resilience, their creativity, and their hope. No matter the hardships, they persevere, keeping the city alive with their undying love and determination.
Kolkata was, is, and will always be the most beautiful city in India. Its soul lies in its rich heritage, the iconic landmarks, the timeless markets, the gentle flow of the Ganga, and the warmth of its people who refuse to let its light fade. Let’s dream of a Kolkata that rises again to its full glory-a city that honors its past while embracing the promise of a brighter future.
What’s your favorite memory of Kolkata? Let’s celebrate this magical city, a place that lives in our hearts forever.

We went there during winter vacations and then went on to the maidan to eat chaat and phuchkas. to eat was always free, very well maintained. No fences. My husband and I used to meet there every morning before we got married. It was a great gathering place for all to enjoy nature in the centre of the city. It was always beautifully maintained.

So much history there. Always happy to see positive experiences from India travelers too much unfounded negativity lately online. I'll be heading back for my third India visit next month very much looking forward to it! Jai Hind!

Just an idea for you. If you are from USA you may know Vivekananda, the Indian Monk who shook America in 1890s. He introduced Vedanta in the West. He was born in Kolkata and established Ramakrishna Mission in Belur near Kolkata, beside river Ganges. You can explore his birth place and Ramakrishna Math if you are interested in spirituality.
By the way, Vedanta is no religion, its for all.

Since you are exploring Calcutta in such details, I'd suggest to pay a visit to Bow Barracks. Its a charming corner of the town where Anglo-Indians have been living for generations. It is especially nice during Christmas. You can buy home made wine and pound cakes. Probably not the best cake or wine objectively, but just for the experience, not a bad idea. If you want to make a day out of it, College Street is not too far either. It is a huge book market and also the home of some of the old schools and colleges established in early 1800's.

Kolkata thrives on emotion. It makes you happy, it makes you cry, and it makes you feel the warmth of human connectivity like nothing before. It's the cultural capital and also an economic powerhouse. Kolkata makes you fall in love with her and never lets you leave. There is an early morning in Kolkata, there is a day in Kolkata, and there is this afternoon in Kolkata. There is the beautiful Night Kolkata, and there is the ever-present, ever-graceful Kolkata of Late Night, and every Kolkata is different. Every nook & corner of this city is filled with history. Offcourse We can visit every city over the world but the warmth of Kolkata is unique.

Hi Steph and Pete, wanted to know your honest opinion about Kolkata and Mumbai. What are the some of the things you liked about these cities and some which you hated? You don't need to sugarcoat as being an Indian I know there are many problems of India. I wanted to know foreigners perspective.

Very nice the educated bengali families will not be eager to visit Mallckbazar at dawn like you did. For them Victoria visit is OK

I am from an educated bengali family and I disagree with you. I visit mallickbazar with no fear whatsoever. Its people like you who have hatred and fear and toxicity in your heart. I dont blame you, its modi effect since 2014.

Great video but soory our city is too much dirty. And I am sorry, for this I can't blame the politicians we are the main culprit, because we think cleaning is others job not mine. 😔
Also expecting much from a 3rd world country is not possible.

If you like Less touristy places to visit in India with rich history with good Beaches, Valleys, Caves, Hill Stations, Some great Villages like you have seen in Kerala, Significant Big temples to Hindus infact The most Visited Temple for Hindus, Visit the State of
" Andhra Pradesh" , it's also one of the cleanest States of India, sadly Gov is less Interested in Promoting Tourism still Govdavari Villages are so beautiful, and ofcourse food you haven't been tasted anywhere else.

Hope you have enjoyed well every moment in my city.If you compare this city with other metros in India then you will find how neglected this city is yet it welcomes everybody from rags to riches with open arms like Mother. Everybody can accommodate here which is not so easy in other metros in India.🙏

Some nice shots of the Hooghly & the Victoria Menorial. The ghats were real-dirty due to DurgaPuja immersion. Guess, Dec-Jan is the best time to let Kolkata grow on you. For that matter, even Mumbaikars prefer Kolkata to Mumbai during this time. :-)

@StephandPete But visiting all the old places and ignoring the new parts , show a false or incomplete reality about the city to your viewers. Responsible tourism is the need of the hour since your followers and viewers from across geographies learn about the city from what picture you paint of it.
