I have been playing with the XVive system (in 2023) - U3,U4,- though they aren't sold in "mix and match" kits, the U3 and U4 are using the same 6 channels and transfer protocol, NB(edit - discovered after first post), THE U5 lapel mic trans/receive, ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with the U3/4 ECOSYSTEM - if used in parallel, channel separation is needed) (U3(D)/U3C) - full size or mini via inline preamp (5-12V) add a wireless link anywhere in a balanced transmission audio system. U6 add an unballanced Lapel mic (with 3.5mm addapter) into any system - not just a camera system.
Hey Kevin Great Video! I like those kind of products. But one question came to mind: are there no wireless interfences from your wireless hdmi, wireless xlr and maybe wireless headphone monitors (looking at DSLR Video Shooters recent video), if you have them all running at the same time?
@@BasicFilmmaker No. 1st transmitter battery gave up. Then several months later receiver battery gave ghost. However, I like the system, and planning to buy another. What do you think, if I change the battery will they work. Or the circuitry gave up. Battery used to heat up before giving up.
Kevin, good review. I have a 24 bit by 192 kHz usb c interface. This unit runs at 24-48khz Am I going to notice a big drop off in terms of quality going wireless? Also any self notice? I want to use this for a recording studio. So I can start tracking in a different room then I mix. Please help man
The links for the UK U3 are in the description. If you have a self powered mic, you definitely don’t want the U3C, you want the U3. Only use the U3C for mics that need phantom power. Thanks!
What do you think about this Sennheiser XSW-D XLR Base Set ? That’s better this Sennheiser XSW-D XLR Base Set ? Or is much better this Xvive U3C Wireless System for Condenser Microphones ?
Hi, I have a problem with my uc3 and my dpa 4099. It works but I get some wisthle like digital perturbation. Is there a way to fix that. I contacted support since 3 days but still waiting a reply. I thought I would try here :) the uc3 works well with other mics and obviously my dpa also without the uc3 Best regards and thx for your work
The one thing I'm not seeing with this is some way of attaching it if you chose to run it off of a short cable, say if you're not wanting to have the extra weight at the end of the boom, or your recorder is mounted to your camera rig, and you don't want it just hanging out there. I also don't like that there's 2 different models for powered and passive mics. A simple "48/12/off" switch would have sufficed.
You could certainly just use a short cable extender. As far as the 2 different models, I agree. I don't know about the dynamics of the electronics, but I would have also liked an OFF.
@@BasicFilmmaker My concern with the short cable is they didn't include any clips or anything to attach it if you go that route. it's a minor concern, but still.
@@BasicFilmmaker Also, I came to film from pro audio. Our mixers all have a "48v Phantom" switch that just turns phantom power on and off. There's no reason they couldn't have included that simple feature in this device. In my experience, with a dynamic microphone, leaving phantom power on doesn't hurt anything, though a singer my get a little tingle if they are swallowing the mic (so to speak). So I'd love a follow up to see if this unit has any adverse effects on a dynamic microphone.
