Delightful orchestration, particularly of the vivacious third movement. Lovely to hear a new take on one of my (numerous) favourite Poulenc works!

Magnifique orchestration, toute en en finesse, où le soliste n'est jamais couvert: bref, en tous points digne de Poulenc lui même.

Used to love playing this piece. But now that i've performed it probably at least 50 times, I now detest it lol. The 3rd movement is a nightmare when you first approach it. Some of those scales are tricky with regards to not messing up your finger work

Completely understandable, there is the famous story of Rachmaninov regretting to have written the c# minor prelude because everyone wanted him to play it.
As a poulenc affascinato in must say it’s one of the more boring sonata but still a masterpiece

Wonderfully played, composed, and orchestrated! I note the frequent Anschlags, borrowed from C.P.E. Bach. Those who know me are well-acquainted with my opposition to the style of the piece on principle (the fractured tonality and nonchalant mien); but I must admire-and enjoy-the work’s excellence on its own terms.

I find the orchestration to well mannered and a bit boring, knowing well poulenc orchestrations I am sure poulenc would have popped a bit more colour and abrasive but charming elements: poulenc was a perfect mixture between elegant and frantic, witty and tragic, i don’t find it here.(it’s only my opinion sorry)
