Yeah cause they have quite spectacularly *utterly failed* at creating memorable, mellifluous themes (for whatever reason). For this piece, I quote Liszt “the beautiful music wasn’t original and the original wasn’t beautiful.” Maybe female tendency to agreeableness causes their music to be completely milquetoast? For Mel Bonis, a big problem is that her music is almost at a single dynamic level…barely rising to double fortissimo at the very end giving the soporific effect of paint *drying*.
Failed at making memorable music? This tune has been living rent free in my head since then. Liszt was a womeniser, he wasn't a worthy critic at all at that, even chopin had been quite deranged by his interpretation of his pieces, what he heard in music was too personal to be used as reference of general craft quality, as to the rest of your stereotypes about women, you do you sir@@Swybryd-Nation
Wow- beautiful, masterful writing and glorious playing from both the flute and piano performers! This should become a staple of Romantic flute repertoire for flute. The piano part is harder than the flute part, so nice for younger flutists. Brava to Mel Bonis! 👏👏👏
I can't listening to this piece. There is something truly magical about a great composer truly understanding the soloists instrument and putting their feelings on display in such a effortless manner.
Superbe dernier mouvement.
Wonderful score video as always. I wanted to ask, what tool/program do you use to create your thumbnails? I've recently started making score videos as well and I was wondering how to make a lovely thumbnail like yours. Any advice would be appreciated! :)
Both players are good, but the sonata is quite plain. I lost interest after the second movement. The third and forth don't present anything substantial.
women composers are sadly very overlooked even today, so thank you for posting this absolutely gorgeous piece.

I love the interplay between flute and piano in the final movement, and in general hats off to Kyoko Nojima, the pianist
6:08 is 6:08 per 6:08 y
Absolutely, hats off to the flute soloist Michel Morgues!!

Beautiful work. I can always count on this channel to find me new music to love!
What a beautiful and interesting piece! Mel Bonis is such an underrated composer, she should be performed more often in concert halls.

The beauty of the female mind..
it is so minimalistically beautyful! such simplicity kinda fits flute as an instrument
THIS IS SO PRETTY

Beautiful work! This piece is gorgeus. I'ts new music to love...from Chicago, Illinois.

A wonderful piece of music wonderfully performed. Thank you !
The last movement is so fluid and I can't put my finger on why I like it so much
The second movement is so much fun!
Ooh, and the third is so elegant and grand.
This tune makes me so happy!
ok now this sonata fucking slaps. I knew that suscribing to your channel would be a good idea, just look at these gems!
Delizioso e magistralmente eseguito! Bravi!!! 👏👏👏🎶🔝💓
Thanks for this bondis
Simply gorgeous

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Suena muy bonito ! Felicidades !
wow, i've never heard of this composer, but this is lovely! also, i apparently have the same birthday as her :)
I agree! And my birthday's one day away lol :)

I'm flattered, but it's just paintdotnet, which is just a somewhat basic tool
It sounds so modern
Almost a Chopin like writing and idea in the first movement mixed with a bit of early Faure
Would be great as music for a ballet (pas de deux or for four dancers). Scenic music.
a kind of pre Poulenc, lovely sonata
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why are female classical composers so underrated...
Delightful. But I've never heard so much syncopated rythm in a French impressionist piece like this.
not so interesting music, but very nice performance, so it's worth for listening. Thank you

I think what stands out most is the creativity. Thematic development isn't top notch but the volume of colors and textures derived is phenomenal.
This is literally the reason why I love flute 🪈 ❤️ 🎉 🍂........
