Nice work, but just one thing. You were using the chisel with the angled side up. This causes deeper cuts into the wood, and can’t be corrected as you cut into the wood. If the chisel is used with the angled side down, the amount of wood being taken off can be adjusted.
who gives a comment like this a thumbs up? I recommend a google search or here on YT "how to use a chisel correctly" for these guys. Have you ever used a chisel yourselves? And I mean not for opening bottles or cutting yourselves? Cheesus Crust - still speechless
Loved everything about this video! Showing my appreciation as a viewer by sharing this - use the face of your new chisel's bevel to "ride along the surface" of the wood. Bevel up will dig! Best wishes from NC! ☺️👍🏼
Truly Beautiful Work !!! Reminds me of when I was a little girl & my Grandad taught me how to use a chisel & work wood to create little items fun items. Great Work !!! - Cheers 👊🏻 From 🇨🇦
Go near a silent lake at 5 am in the morning and shoot the slingshot straight up in the air, slightly tipped toward the lake. Fire it upward and start the stopwatch, then listen for the projectile piercing the water as it lands. For velocity multiply this time by 16 gives FEET PER SECOND. EXAMPLE 10 seconds for the trip up and back down gives 10 times 16 gives 160 feet per second. For the total height the pellet travels, Square that round trip time and multiply by 4 gives the highest point of travel in feet. EXAMPLE 10 seconds squared is 100 times 4 gives 400 feet high maximum.
This might be a good weapon against a mass shooter. Of course,, proficiency is needed by making slingshot shooting a sport competition. Impressive idea and excellent workmanship.
Next time you try something like this, get yourself a handheld grinder with a material removal disc that has chainsaw teeth on the perimeter. Cut your time from hours to well under an hour. That is, unless you like all that work.
You should use a sling. With a little practice you become very accurate and depending on what shape rock you use and save, you can do amazing things with your weapon. And don't gave to rely on pre-made metal balls or the king of aiming that requires two hands and sharp vision. With a small amount of practice you simply look at the target, swing, and there you go! You can easily make a sling with a small rectangular piece of leather and two leather or string straps about 18 inches up to 3 feet long.
A bandsaw or coping saw wood speed Construction. If you want to use the rollers use metal ones with ball bearings and make the mount a little bit beefier. Watch JoergSprave videos.
Awesome! I'll try to replicate this using steel. I don't persevere in woodcrafting. I never thought the mechanical concept of a modern bow can be adopted to slingshot. I'm good with traditional slingshot type but this model will be very accurate. Thanks for the tip!
Im interested if the rubber hurts your hand at all in this design. With normal slingshots after the basket releases the ball it will travel backward and slap you on the fingers sometimes. Its not a big deal at first, but as it keeps hitting you over and over again it really start to hurt. Does this one do something similar?
An excellent way to glue up cracks in wood is to position a vacuum cleaner nozzle on one side of the crack, with the glue on the other side. Run the vacuum cleaner and it'll reduce the air pressure at that point, and the glue will be forced right through the crack. You may need to put a bit of tape here and there to dictate where the vacuum acts, or even Blu-tac or plasticine around the nozzle to help achieve a good seal. I've done this many times, with good results.
Dude, you mentioned in your title "POWERFUL WOODEN TWO ROLLER SLINGSHOT...." Hey, a cheap crappy pocket slingshot from Walmart, using steel balls can penetrate tomatoes, eggs and a Coke can. 😆
Fun fact - here in Denmark you need a special weapon licence to build or own a slingshot, and the you can only use it in certain places, when it is not in use it must be stored in a gun safe
I would really like to have Slivki doing the narrating, or at least someone with an eastern European accent voicing it. The SlivkiShow just isn't the same with a lame brit accent. ...and where is Cookie??
There are these amazing new tools called saws, which remove large amounts of wood very fast. Much better than spending half a day chiselling out the excess material.
Man, this was painful to watch. “Here’s how a caveman made the slingshot. But instead of using stone tools, we’ve got these high-tech gadgets now. We call them ‘chisels’. In the future, humans might invent power tools. Maybe even a bandsaw. That would make this process so much faster. But for now, all we have is the chisel.”
yeah if i were going to go hand tools it would be a coping saw and a draw knife for most of it. its not surprising he isn't aware of the proper tools for the job, based on how inexperienced he obviously is with woodworking. this seems to be a trend in these "maker" videos, people laboring endlessly with the wrong tools.
The work you created with only simple hand tools is really beautiful. You have a rare mind and spirit to set on a brand new project and finish it to such a high quality.
Try flipping the chisel around. It cuts differently depending which way the bevel faces. To cut flat use the flat side. To cut chunks out out use the beveled side.
Nicely done One tip hold you chisel the other way a rond. The flat part up. So your chisel not go in to the wood but it naturely go's out. But nicely done for your first time 😊
Excellent build. But the material around the fork ends is really thin and has to handle the greatest amount of stress. i wonder if it would hold up over time.
Yeah it’s a dumb design He started from a huge wood stock and then totally thinned out the two main places that take all the stress, and then they even got holes drilled in them laterally to support the dowels for the rollers even more so thinning out the material in that section. He could have made the arms wider and thicker and protrude out more to the sides and even kept the same aperture size in the middle of the arms
What a gorgeous and powerful sling shot. As a kid in California we could buy a commercially made wrist rocket (aluminum tube with forearm support from Wham-O). They were outlawed for a while due to the extreme damage they caused. Now legal, I own a sweet adjustable type- can be used for hunting, though I don't shoot animals. If you need more power, stretching latex hose across bicycle handles and using 1" bearings can go the distance with devistating power.
Thankyou for being honest about the time it actually takes to actually do some of this stuff. Also letting us see the failed attempts with the rollers. Many supposed DIY channels just show things almost magically coming together and intentionally edit the video in order to mislead people. I have also seen people cheat and do things like using high grade lumber to make furniture but lying and saying it was common pallet wood.
If u like batterypowered try out 18 v anglegrinder + flapdisc. There are also 18 v chainsaw which works great instead of chisel. I made guitarnecks this way. It's pretty much the same shape, only a bit longer. Anyway great upload thx!!
You know when the video started I was thinking wow its going to be no power tools. Then I saw the drill and all I can say is you need a bandsaw. You could have gotten good shape in probably 15min

I have to say thank you for showing me that a chisel can remove a large amount of wood (UPDATE) the chisel didn't work so plan B. I admire your intelligence for figuring out that a rasp does the job faster (UPDATE 2) well behind the scenes it took you about 6 months and once again I thank you for not making me watch the full six months rasping. Chisels work better when the flat straight side is up. This gives you more control.
I’d think antler or plastic would be better than wood for rollers.
