Toyota did say by 2022 they will replace all V8 for TT V6 for cars under something like 100k (can’t remember the price) however Lexus just released a V8 Ls500 and Is500
Same engine, but de-tuned. The LC will not produce 310 kw. Expect 20-30% less output and maybe 10% less NM of torque. The new LX, due in 2022, will have this exact setup though. Likely to be called LX500.
If im not wrong a naturally aspirated camry v6 could bring similar number. But anyways these is a very good number for a heavy luxury car plus it has twin turbos. Impressive.
Second gear hit 100 KPH, what’s the point having 10 gears then? This thing could at least be 0.5 seconds quicker on 0-100 if Lexus get the gear ratio right.
10 gears are made for cruising ! Even the LC500 V8 NA can cruise with not a high speed in 10th gear. Dont worry, the mega test from MotorTrend was showing this LS500 F SPORT was the fastest in the category on the track test !

Jack Shotton The current (V8) LX has 530 NM. The 200 series has 650. If the LX can cope well with 530 - and it weighs in almost same as the LC on which it is based - then a drop in torque should be no issue for the 300. Remember, the 300 will be lighter too. @@TheNuclearBolton you're right, it will depreciate by 70-80 percent over the span of 10 years. Big luxury sedans don't hold well dude, no matter the brand. If you have 200k to dish out on a slow lexus, then you have enough to spend on a car you actually like and pay for the repair costs.
Well they just copied the Germans newest C63 got the hybrid 2.0 turbo and others 63s are just twin turbo 4.0 v8. Or they just call a BMW 320i but got a turbo 1.6.
This isn't a rs or m or amg rivaling car. It is more in the line of a 740i with m sport package or a s450 with amg line package or a a8 50 tfsi with s line package.

It looks like Lexus never developed a proper launch control, nor did they feel the need to put launch control in the LS. And fun fact, the body material of this car is still fully steel :)

The wheels are nice.
Toyota seriously needs to put this engine in a lighter car and make it louder and tuned for more performance. It has serious potential.
Yes,put it in a 900 kg yaris :-D ...give such a car to anyone else but an experianced race driver and it'll go from 0 to total loss in under 3 seconds ;-)
Yea . performance let's say ok. But sound should be enhanced I think
I agree,like LC,LS500 is too heavy
But for a luxury car it's not bad I think 🤔
Yeah it doesn't matter sense that it's only for the LS
5.8" in 0-100kmh it's not bad at all for a luxury Sedan !
Especially for an over 2 tonne car!!
what about bmw 750?

my LS 2010 does it the same time or even faster. How the hell did they acheve that ???))))
Awesome car had mine 5 months and the only improvement i will be making is gripper tyres. The run flats are not made for spirited driving.
You my friend… are a millionaire. This purchase speaks volumes
Should be called LS350
Honestly.👍
It would be if it has an N.A 3.5L V6. Since its Twin Turbo they plus up the numbers.
LS350 is already available with NA 3.5 V6 (2GR-FKS).
@@Racingcaster2014 not in america we only get the TT V6 and TT V6 Hybrid, i didn't know there was a 350 model.

What a shame that, as you rev it, it sounds like someone sweeping up the road behind the car at the same time..
Very quiet!!
This car suites this trim engine and gearbox 💯
Nice but no substitute for the old 5.0 V8.
in my opinion this is way better
I completely agree matt
Yes I agree, the 500 should be V8, for sure 👍🏻... But I tell you what, take this for a drive, you will definitely be surprised...

Word is they will replace the V8 in Tundra with V6 tt. And large SUVs
Darren Yeah your right. Apparently 300 series will have petrol tt v6, v6 hybrid and the 2.8 turbo diesel from the prado
I wish we had diesel in USA especially in pickups

Very brisk performance. Lovely.
king of camry
The engine's redline is so low
Torquey engine
Your suppose to cruise in this car not racing. Bentley mulsanne have diesel like rev limit even its petrol
If I recall correctly, the redline moves as the engine gets warmer
3:07 I don’t hear the engine here, is like a electric car 😧
Is it the same block as the current 3.5 Toyota/Lexus?
Marcel 101 nope, it’s an all new block, only used in this LS500 ( so far). in fact it’s a 3.4, not a 3.5
I wish I could have a Lexus!
The turbo lag is disastrous :0
That's not turbo lag, it's the throttle lag

Wonder if toyota used this engine as a basis for the new landcruiser 300 petrol engine. Specs are similar
that is a pretty big difference in 0-100 time from claimed to what you could achieve?
One question which is most fast SUV with three rows please
My guess is the audi sq7
AMG GLS 63
Why didn't toyota use this for the supra ???
People even forgot that this car exists
The B58 is a great motor but This engine should have been used in the new supra atleast its toyota made😂
Totally agree!
Am I seeing it wrong? Kerb weight 2240KG??
it's even heavier than a medium sized SUV
ch0005649 it’s quite average for this class. similar to the S-class and 7 series

That is not a fast car, but it is very nice inside though.
Disappointing performance! If you brake torque the lexus ls400 you'd get quicker to 100 km/h by 0.8 seconds
F sport... no lexus :/ should've waited for the twin turbo v8 LS to use the f sport badge

6.3 seconds for regular driving the fact some 2 ton suvs are faster is hilarious with less power aswell.
