As someone who is not a songwriter, I find this hard to do
just play whatever you feel like. improvise a lot, it doesn't have to be genious songwriting level.
I disagree with that point. very elitist thingng.
ppl who just started out playing can't just come up with their own stuff. you have to start by learning a few songs. later on when you get better you mostly play originals.

yeah that one is crap Ive had dudes at guitar center walk up suprised that I was playing Morbid Angel and happy that it wasnt A7X for the 12th time that day. lol
I played a 7 string version God of Emptiness, thats what got his attention. tried immortal rites but I suck at that one to this day. Nobody was like "you suck" or "write your own shit" ... when dude came up to me it was "Morbid Angel? Hell yeah!!!"
I think sometimes its what you play, kind of like stairway when it came out, nobody wants to hear bad covers of Beast and the Harlot 20 times a day, smoke on the water, stranglehold, etc.
I guess he meant, don't play the same stuff everyone else plays (035).

I had a funny moment at a guitar store a year ago. Went in to try a few guitars out, really just shopping for my soul. Found this really nice strat with a good paint job, but made fingerprints and grease show up SO much. Played on it for about 15 minutes, trying an amp or two in between before going to put the guitar back. It had a few gross looking marks where my arm rested, so I took it up to the counter and said "Do you guys have any polish and a microfiber cloth I could use to wipe this off? I can't come in and play this thing and leave it looking weird." The guy's reply was so choice.
*Cashier* Uhhhh, yeah, here.... (grabs some Formula 65 and a rag) We've /never/ had anyone clean off a guitar after using it, hahaha, thanks for that

This reminds me of the first time i ever entered a guitar shop. I was maybe 19 years old.
Nobody ever told me how to behave at that place.
I was with my friend, and we went totally crazy when we saw all those guitars. We picked and tried out several guitars, took pictures with them, and then went from one, just picking guitar strings without context, to another, i think we tried almost all of them. We were in a totally unconscious state of mind for half an hour, unaware of anything that happened around us. Like kids, first time visiting candy shop.
When we were about to leave, guy who works there, and who was watching us all the time, totally pissed off and deadly serious, just told us : Guys, this is your first and the last time you behaved like that around here.

I feel this. I used to be a huge fan of Music is Win, but now all his videos are just him flexing his guitars and showing off how good he is. Thats just an example but i see a lot of guitar channels doing similar stuff

I agree on Music is win. I saw a few videos that I liked. Now it's just him showing off. There are others doing the same thing, I don't like them either.

this was a mistake
....with the nut locked!
the high e string only breaks if you are trying to tune it wayyy too high(people that use an actual reference note for tuning NEVER break strings, only people that tune to the interval between strings do that (they tend to drift the tune away from the reference note and as a result the tuning rises(for some reason their tunings don't fall, they rise until strings snap) ...for some reason they always tune up and not down, it is a result of not really learning how to tune a guitar properly!!!)
One time i was jamming in a store, and this super old guy sits next to me, picks up a bass, and just playing. Nothing unusual, except for the fact that hes INSANELY good. My man was tapping and shit. Anyways, i just enjoy shouting out good musicians. Goodnight everyone.

no yes if you haven’t found out by now, here’s your answer. There are certain riffs or songs that are just so common to hear in a guitar store that to everyone it’s been basically banned.

Lol I bought a guitar for myself and my little brother got into it, Now he plays better then me due he practiced at school and whenever he came to play my guitar he had a different pick, he literally takes them from school 😆. Great video btw.

remember to always tune floating trem guitar with the standard hardware on the headstock. if the pitch doesnt change, just turn a bit more. eventually you are going to hear a ping. then its just right.
Actually this is what I've always done since the beginning of my musical journey... I never steal picks. If I ask the shop assistant for a pick then I always bring the pick in his own hands. If I wear something that has a zip on it, like a sweatshirt, I take it off to avoid scratching the guitar. I never play a guitar that's on sale with the same energy I'd put playing one of my own guitars just because you can ruin the pickguard or scratch the body. When I finish playing a guitar I always give it in the hands of the shop assistant to put it back on the wall. At least if the guitar falls for any reason no one can blame me...

So One time I was in a guitar center in Pittsburgh I was in town due to work and pick up a guitar and start to play some classic Santana’s riffs (I’m Mexican by the way) and after a wile when I was putting the guitar back a Store employee walks by and said to me “cool we don’t hear that often around here”
The best song to play at GC .....find something unique....popular.....and you can play it backwards and forward without issue....make it your go to song....thats the secret.....dont ever go to GC and try to play something new....that will end up being a disaster and youll look like a rookie

I'm not gonna clean the guitar before I leave. Lol. I don't walk around with a cheese cloth on my pocket and I don't expect anyone to do that. Lmao. I would hope the guitar was tuned when I play though. What's actually annoying is when you're trying out a guitar and someone cranks the guitar to compete with you so you can't hear the guitar you're planning on buying.

At guitar center. I didn't do anything just looked for my things that i wanted to buy. They wanted to kill me lmao
One of my first times at guitar center I was pretty new to guitar then my friend that had me tag along. And when he took my I wanted to try different amps with a guitar and the bass amps were next to guitar amps and I started playing a guitar on a bass amp and a employee ran to me and yelled at me for doing that. I apologized to him several times before I left and I heard him talking about me before I left the store. Made me pretty upset at the time.
