If any professional player in any sports has a problem with fans or media trashing them when they are not playing well, then they should not be a professional player. Your job is to entertain fans. If you are not doing your job, the fans who pay your salary has all the right to complain about you. Also if you sulk and play bad because you don't get along with another player, you are not a being professional and you are not thinking about your team.

Miller was semi-responsible for nearly as many pucks being fished-out of his own net, as he scored.
That was more likely the beef he had with Petterssen & coach RT, it was the impetus for his fiery critiques of teammates, while he was a major risk-taker. Kind of hypocritical to be the leadership-bulldog for accountability ….while staying out too long upon the ice, jumping up & having nothing left to back check &/or coughing-up another costly turnover. Hero to zero, and back again - all in the same period of play. Miller likely has a greater percentage of turnovers vs takeaways per game than EP40. Elias is more defensively reliable. It’s like Maverick vs Iceman. You can co-exist & influence one another for good, but friction is inevitable, especially if one isn’t completely sold on every detail of the program & wants to fly more on instincts. It’s a game of mistakes. I don’t doubt having that aggressive desire to compete is a factor necessary for them all be successful, & Miller has this in buckets to share, but was his analysis of himself & his own flaws - fair?
This wasn’t all about the team’s chemistry. I believe it was more about JT’s family being spared the additional stresses of a being scrutinized by a crazy-intense media-horde & his being out of town too much to help them cope with it all. Travel kept JT away from his family who may have needed more supports for themselves, which are found back east. The days away will be fewer in the bus-league division, and with other big-league sports in NYCity, they will be resting easier on the media scrutiny account, too.

@@samy467I guess you can keep defending this management if you like. Horvat wanted to sign for 6-7 mill. That's a no brainer. Miller could still be got at 8 after. Management priority is off. As you can see they don't want to make anymore mistake holding off of petty trade.

Looking back now to the time when the Canucks had Miller, Horvat, and Pettersson - people were debating whether it should be Horvat or Miller that was kept. I know this is hindsight now, but maybe keeping Horvat and Miller and trading Pettersson would have been a better option? Horvat would not be getting 11.6 mil, and is actually a lot more serviceable now than Petey, who just does not seem to have anything going...
