Yay another video that doesn’t show it getting used. Starting to think it doesn’t actually do anything I’ve never seen anyone use it. Even in demonstrations like this video here they don’t actually use it. Like it’s a myth
It's just best to use as a easy start up. Like if your on the passenger side and can't reach the clutch. I can't imagine anyome who can't drive a manual, being able to figure this out in a real tricky situation. Toyota has used this since their very first pickup, and all old time yota owners use it as an easy start so they don't have to get into their jacked up yotas on winters days.
If you have a hand e-brake equipped, it would be much preferred unless you have to use the torque on all 4 wheels. The best example I could give is if you just went through a mud puddle, and you're on some slick rocks. The rear wheels being chocked by the e-brake might not be enough to cut it momentarily
My friends grandma told me that on the original trucks if you turn the truck off turn it to auxiliary or whatever I think put it in four low and hit the button or something like that and it would do a full rotation of the tires that helped when off Roading Is this real and/or a thing you have heard of
Yes, but when you're starting a manual transmission truck or car, not only do you have the clutch pushed in, you also have your right foot on the brake. So I find this button useless because it will not roll back if you have your right foot on the brake pedal!!!!! This video is just adding more complication to a procedure that when learned right, you don't really need
Guess you have three feet lol. It's meant to provide torque when you have to hold the brake and can't hit the accelerator. This gives you just enough time to let go of the brake and start hitting the gas. You'll only be hitting the button for half a second if you're actually a good driver. Hardly any damage to the starter. If you do it constantly, you'll probably warp the flywheel but this is for emergency crawling situations where you've stalled and need the starter to pull you forward long enough to let go of the brake and hit the gas to start pedalling and modulating the clutch. Don't like it, don't use it 😂😂, but don't complain enough to get it removed for the people who DO actually use it and like to actually drive their cars
@@jacobwebb8818 then apparently you're not a veteran of manual transmissions. If you're good at manual transmissions, you have one foot on the clutch, one foot on the brake. Then you balance you're right foot from the brake to the gas in tandem with your left foot on the clutch in order to move the vehicle!! Regardless if your uphill or downhill or in a different parallel dimension! If you cannot do this, then do not buy a manual transmission vehicle! End of discussion. I'm done with the silly conversation! It's just silly, it's an extra option on a vehicle that you have to pay for. I have it on mine, but never used it once because I'm not an idiot. Knock it off with your downgrading comments. Just don't buy a manual transmission. Buy an automatic
@@n1tlf470 I love how you accuse me of not being a veteran manual driver yet I have videos on my account of me driving manual vehicles, including 2 vehicles that ONLY came in manual. Whether it's "silly silly silly!!!" (Acting like a child over here) Or not, it has a purpose. If you are on slick rocks with slicker tires, especially if you have mud in your blocks, then it's difficult to modulate the clutch in tandem with releasing the brake so you don't stall, and also can get the gas in time. If you are on some slick rocks and you need to proceed with all 4 wheels, if you get the clutch-gas balance wrong you will either stall or slip. It's not for pro drivers, it's for 80% of people who actually drive it. It's a drivers aid, not a "I'm a professional button" (silly silly silly!!) I love how you start your reply with calling me a bad driver and then say let's not get into degrading comments 🤔. If you really want to know, I own 5 vehicles right now, 4 of which are manual including a 4WD 5 speed Xterra, which I have went offroading in. Again, just because you don't know how to read a manual doesn't mean that button isn't helpful for other people. You probably stick to the road all the time (silly silly silly!!!!!) so you will never be in a situation where that button could really come into handy. And if you go offroading and couldn't benefit from that button, then you're barely offroading 😂
What if my Tacoma won’t start unless this button is activated??? I have and 05 and My truck just stopped turning on the other day, no click, no attempt at turning over, tapped the starter - didn’t work, and checked the battery- was full juice. But it won’t turn on without engaging this feature. It also won’t turn off once it lights up. Any answers??
Hey Jasmine I tired trouble shooting this question and I realize that you should take it to your dealership to get it checked as i would not be able to understand the problem or explain the answer without actually being there to see the problem.
@@belletoyota Thanks for getting back! turns out my truck is fine, i guess my seat wasnt close enough to the pedal, but it was also combined with my floor mats not allowing it to go all the way down as well. once i put the stock mats in and slide the seat up closer, (all the way cuz im 5'5 lol) its strated up cherry every time!

I use mine to cross high water using the starter to avoid the chance of flooding the engine
I thought it was so i could start the truck without climbing in
Glad we were able to clarify that for you in this video. Safe driving!
Me too. That's all I've ever used mine for.
Wouldn't it be the same thing to engage ebrake? Rev it up, release clutch , then as you feel the torgue gently release ebrake. Same thing?
Yes, you could use the ebrake to perform the same function. It is really a matter of personal preference.

It's best to talk to your local certified Toyota mechanic for technical inquiries.

@@jasminerideaux You just weren’t pressing the clutch in? That’s really funny
I wonder if this feature bypasses the clutch switch if a bad switch keeps the truck from starting until it can be replaced?
Yup just another useless function 🤦♂️
She just explained the use . Toyotas have had this function since the 80s. For off-road use
