Love love love your information. I follow very few people but you and Dr Dray are all anyone needs to get the right info. We, as consumers are bombarded with a lot of bad info. Thx for helping us be informed.
So many questions! 1. Do you recommend in-office microneedling for help with collagen production? If not, what do you recommend for collagen production to help with skin laxity? 2. As long as our moisturizer doesn't include any oil in the ingredient list, it is good to use? 3. What is the best treatment for age spots when hydroquinone doesn't completely take them away? Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us!
1. At home microneedling 2. Oils on your skin 3. Things that “smell good” 4. Stickers on your skin (biore, “facelift” stickers, etc) 5. Chemical sunscreens 6. Picking your skin 7. Microdermabrasion 8. Steroids on your face 9. Frowning or grimacing when staring at your computer screen 10. Hydroquinone (inappropriate use)
This is so great. An “Influencer” was saying “clinical information” ?? She had notes used big words like trans epidermal water loss ... she was saying NOT to use an exfoliate w Magnesium?? Like ZoSkin. I use this everyday. And also that exfoliating is bad for the skin unless 1-2 times a month. Then she started using words that YOU USE!! Regarding RetimA .. I commented. I’ve been using retinA for 3-4 years. I use it every night all over from a formulation pharmacy through my Dr. he mix’s it with Niaciamide and hyalouranic acid ... Yes I started w .25 for a year then .50 for a year and I’ve stayed at .50 w ZoSkin Melamix 6 months on 3 months off w the hydroquinone.. I was floored she was giving the worst worst Information!!!! Saying growth factors?!? Aren’t good?!? Are you kidding me?!? One more. She was telling people NOT to put moisturizer on wet skin. That it actually makes the body lose “trans epidermal water loss” her favorite joined word. WHAT!!! That’s totally false. I wish they would stop. They have no justification in giving any medical advice. ❤️ you girl. You are the 💣 I have had Fractional co2. My Dr is wanting me to try micro needling. I may. But definitely at my Drs office. Thx again !!!!
Dr. Kappel, thank you for this informative video. How does one tell the difference between a moisturizer and a lotion? Can you give an example of each by naming a brand that a person can find at the drugstore? That would help me understand better. Also, I will quit using oils on my face.
So what hydrators would you recommend? And is SkinCeuticals a good line ?I do like the 2:4:2 triple restore cream but your saying that creams are not good? Would greatly appreciate your advice.
Thank you so much for all the information you share, it’s helped me tremendously! You are a doll. I’ve heard you mention that chemical sunscreens are bad several times, but I haven’t heard an explanation why, can you please elaborate on that sometime? Thank you so, so much for all you do!
Youngr by Stefani Kappel MD I do follow you on instagram and I appreciate every info you provide. Yet we have 2 daughters in university so I can spend top dollars on maybe 2 clinical serums but that is the max my budget can handle.
Angie Basham I have rosacea, broken capillaries and hyper pigmentation. I got a few Broadband light treatments and it made a huge difference after the first one. The only thing is once you get to where you want to be you have to maintain and get it done once or twice a year. It’s been a game changer for me!
Such great info - love, love, love your posts - so informative, science-based - with an “information flooded” Internet it is important to have resources you can count on - you’ve created such an important accurate resource - much appreciated, Stefani. 👍💖
Wow, you are a wealth of information. If I use moisturizer, it is for using under my primer or foundation, so my make up doesn't look too cakey. At night I use a retinoid product and in the morning some of the products you have recommended. However, I do use Elizabeth Grady Body Balm on my feet every day, and cover with a pair of white socks. I have been doing this for a few years now and my cracked dry heels look beautiful. No other product has ever worked like this one. I have had this issue all my life and now my heels are healthy and healed. I do need to know about face waxing. I have hairs, black and white ones that have grown since menopause, mostly under my chin. I get them waxed every two weeks because the lazer machines do not pick up the white hairs. That is a lot of skin pulling. And I have been doing this for two years now. I hate going, but I do not know what else to do about the problem. Do you have any suggestions?
You are the first Dr. who has ever mentioned darkening of the skin from over use of hydroquinone!! Thank you. What can be done for the dark spots besides stopping the use of it?
Thank you for another very informative video. As far as picking, what are your thoughts on extractions during a facial. Isn't that sort of the same thing? Could that cause issues as well?
Your channel has been a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I always look forward to the next video! I don’t apply foundation on my skin daily, only tinted moisturizer. Do you have a suggestion to replace tinted moisturizer? You mentioned hydrators only. My skin is so fair.
If removing a layer of skin via microdermabrasion causes that pore widening effect by slicing off the top part of the pores, wouldn’t other things involving removal of a layer of skin (like chemical peels and some lasers) have the same detrimental effect?
I've been on Retin-A for 30 years. I have tough as nails skin!! Yep, put it on with wet skin, use tons of acids and my face can take it. My downfall was 30 years ago there was little sunscreen awareness. Thank you for this information!
It’s a natural alternative to hydroquinoine. I use it to lighten pigmentation but also to suppress it. My clients are obsessed with it and many have stopped using HQ all together.
The information about the oil was the hardest for me lol I totally respect what you are saying and think it’s completely valid but prior to adding oils into my skin care the last year I was predominantly oil free using professional products like revision, elta md, skinmedica etc, and my skin was awful! Fine lines, dehydration clogged pores the list goes on. Now I use an oil based cleaner from Avene, Squalane oil, an oil based moisturizer along with my differin gel at night still and my skin is so healthy and has incredible hydration and clarity. Is there a chance oils work for certain skin types?
Her current look in 2024 is amazing. But I also like her look from the past. That is something about natural beauty can outcompete with human-made beauty in its own way. Nothing compare to inner beauty. That is the most amazing aspect of her. She is a good mom and an employer.
I had micro needling sessions done on the tops of my hands and forearms 6 months ago and I am still enjoying the results. My skin is less wrinkled, more taught and free of age spots and discoloration. Was I just lucky or is micro needling better when not used on the face? I have no regrets and will certainly do it again if or when it is necessary.
Stella Starlight Yes.... I've microneddled 12 years now. I'm on my 57th year around the sun and not a single wrinkle yet. My neck and chest look wonderful, too.
Great video Stefani, thank you, your looking ageless by the way...., I, on the other hand, am now 62 years old , and i have always worshiped the Sun, i have always felt healthier and better looking with a tan, and uplifted and Blessed by its warm Rays, when the Sun is out so Am I .... needless to say my skin is well Rays-ed ... I was given the M8 Micro Needling Pen, i have not used it yet , (since watching your video i am now a bit more confused, and perhaps more apprehensive , as i have been lead to understand, and seen photographic slides, of collagen rebuilding, and increasing around the damaged sites under the skin , as in PDO Threads for instance !, i can appreciate that can be quite a bit deeper then say 0.25/0.5 needle , but would the damage you mentioned using micro needling not build more collagen over time, in the same way? in turn regain a stronger structure and support, for the my skins aging loss of collagen !!...PS. to use or sell the pen, is now in question ? , plus perhaps finding an affordable, better ways to address my now sagging lined skin ??
So as far as moisturizer, the holy trinity is not as important as it used to be empathized to be ? Fatty acids, cholesterol, plus ceramides ? Would love to know what a hydrator is more specifically…. Is it a water based moisturizer/lotion with no oils in the formula ? And if that’s the case, I thought water based serums, etc. don’t actually penetrate into the skin according to the science. I thought fat soluble products get into the skin such as fatty acids like The ones inside of oils. And are you saying no moisturizer (water+ oil formulated moisturizer) is better than moisturizer ? Also for someone that get dry after retinol application, what would you recommend to better address the dry skin, peeking or flaking ? This has become a little confusing for me and Would love to know and understand what you recommended going forward. Thank you again !
Such a great video. My skin was hydrated and so nice prior to menopause. When I turned 60 every ounce of moisture left my skin. Anything to fix that issue? I’m on HT, but my skin is still soooo dry. Thanks for all your sharing of knowledge 💕
Sunscreen drama for me. It’s been so hard to find both minerals above 8% on Maui. I flew to Honolulu to investigate their stores 🤦🏻♀️ ...And I end up getting everyone in the sunscreen department involved too and direct them to your channel. 🤣😂
Love your videos and sound advice! 💕 In your IG stories you mentioned running wasn’t good for the skin either, I thought that was super informative and something I hadn’t thought about (not that I run that often)! 🚫🏃🏼♀️
Hello, Dr. Stefani It’s confusing when you don’t recommend moisturizer and another doctor says it is used to prevent Trans-epidermal water loss? Please enlighten me
Thanks for the info on Melasma. I've had it for years and have cycled on and off 4% hydroquinone with little improvement. Is it possible to be immune to it? I don't know what else to do at this point. If you have time to reply, I'd appreciate it!
Good to know, I bought some for a trip, because it's not a liquid! Something was breaking me out, and I have dry sensitive skin. Guess I know what the problem was, most likely. Wow! Thank you.
Thank you Dr Kappel !!!! Could you say the name of product we should use for hydration instead of oil ??? I didn’t really understand what it was :-) thank you ❤
My new favorite Dr to watch..... Thank you for the microneedling info I almost fell into the trap so your advice has saved me. What is your favorite tinted SPF? Could you please offer some advice for mature necks with wrinkles, saggy and crepe skin? Big hugs and lots of love. XOXO
Marsha Woods: Yep, at an office visit she told me she uses TIZO3 Primer/Sunscreen Tinted SPF 40 instead of makeup and that she also likes Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50.
Zinc and titanyum maybe natural but in sunscreens theyre not 'natural' any more, they are undergoing several chemical processes and also new generation chemical filters are awsome as well 👌
@@ttatiana Personally i like heliocare brand but there are so many good brands like la roch posay… It depends on your skin type and the form of the products (gel, oil free, cream, lotion ext…) the best sunscreen is the one that you wear ☺️
Hi Dr. Kapple..No Pressure, here..But, in my mind, YOU will be the last word on this.. Physical Exfoliant Ingredient(s): What to “Look For.” Jojoba Beads and Rice Powder..Honestly? Just seem too gentle “For my sporty life purposes.” Powders of Walnut, Pumice..Aluminum Oxide Crystals, Even Micro Quartz Crystals..Maybe (?) seem scary w/micro tears, etc..Would you happen to have an opinion? I do understand.. “Better for the environment; issue..BTW, We Love You..Here, at The Office🕊
thanks Dr Stefani for this video I am currently using adaplene.. can it help me to get rid of sun damaged skin (not melasma) and fade some minor pigmentation spots on my skin?? I am using it alternate days...is that okay???
Thanks for another great video. Glad to hear about the micro-needling. I could never get myself to use needles on my own face but I was starting to think I was missing out on younger looking skin. I know you said microdermabrasion is bad for skin. Once every 2 weeks I use these little razors (Tinkle razors) to shave the peach fuzz off my face. I am very gentle. Is this the same thing as microdermabrasion or is this ok for me to do?
Stacy B This is called dermaplaning. I do it three times a week. My skin looks like glass! It has been a wonderful addition to my regimen. I'm on my 57th trip around the sun with no wrinkles, no botox and no fillers.
Hi, I find your videos very interesting! 😍 I would like to know how medication/ tablets can alter your skin health. I have diabetes type 1 and had a coronary bypass operation 5 yrs ago. After that I was put on meds for blood pressure, beta-blockers, Acetylsalicylic Acid and cholesterol. My skin has always been dry but now it is paper dry 😬 I am 48 yrs old and have had diabetes since 1979. How does the meds affect skin conditions? Thanks in advance ❤️
one humble request...could you do a video about how to lighten dark circles I am fair skinned but I got dark circles recently (no work pressure or anything) its more prominent under my eyebrow
I don’t think there really is a solution. I once read that under eye filler‘s can help. Becca’s under eye concealer is really good. It’s a salmon/pink color.
I would like to know more about (expensive) micro-current devices, like the popular NuFace. Could you please give us some professional info on this? thanks! :-)
Dr stefani my skin is very dry that my face is flaky i was just wondering what type of products i should use that are not oils or creams that would help moistrize
what about the skin papers called Frownies. They have been around forever, and the do seem to relax your skin at night so you don't frown at night. They help the areas in-between your eyes so you don't get worse "11" lines. If you wet them thoroughly before removing them and don't rip them off the skin in morning, are they safe to use? I use them and they do seem to help. Thanks
I LOVE this video I never get tired to hear about skin and what to use ( if you know of cheaper version like drug store please let us know) I learned about hydrocortisone today from you and I didn't know, my Dr regular phisician ordered me that of 0.5% because I have some dry skin on my coller bone area and she said is eczema but I'm gonna stop using it now besides it didn't do anything I still have dry skin on that area thank you so much for sharing 😘
I wish I had seen this video before getting harmed...it's not only "home devices" but also Doctors who do not the research and jump on the latest device and they have to "sell" the treatment to pay for the device...I've had my skin damaged ...very damaged and then you have no one to turn to because the person who is responsible is never give your money back nor will it fix what's been damaged ...As for oil etc..what are we supposed to put on our skin especially when we had a treatment and skin harmed..all red etc... what do you recommend Doctor...you have terrific skin and plump face..may I ask how old are you ? what would be the skin regimen to restaure / rapid and protect the skin please ?
marsery it’s hard to assess without seeing your skin in person as each individual is different and each treatment should be customized. I’d follow up with your provider😘
Can you also make a video about chemicals that are in skin care and makeup products , that are toxic to the skin and if organic products are better or not? I’m just wondering if these toxic chemicals and using them for a prolong period, can cause liver cyst. Especially Prolong use of Retin A. Thankyou
I just want to say thank you for this video it was truly helpful I bought a mineral sunscreen with uv and uvb 100%zinic oxide and my skin as looked so much better and some of my skin pigmentation as slow down
The products are kinda expensive but i use a small amount to make them last and I noticed a huge difference within a week. The hyaluronic acid I use morning and night but the Skinmedica serum I only use 1 pump at night. That website offers a discount and I think you can get 15% off your order, so that helps too!
Hi, You Always provide good educational info. Does IT skin care get your approval for hydrating aging skin? I use IT, Confidence in a Jar after applying my ordinary serums at night. I do think it hydrates my skin. What are your thought on setting sprays, or facial sprays? Thank you. 💋💋💋❤️
+Sophie Armstrong depends on how sensitive you are. Start with one a week and see if u get irritation. If not then go for it! Mix it 1:1 with a hydrator to lessen the irritation without decreasing efficacy
If you suffer from dry eyes, you may want to avoid Retinoids & Retinol. My new ophthalmologist just told me yesterday to stop using Tretinoin as it can cause meibomian gland damage. She recommends that her dry eye patients stop using retinyl derivatives on the face altogether. She’s an expert in this condition so I best follow her guidance. I’m so sad about this. 😢 Up until this week, I’ve used Tretinoin without issues, I thought. My skin wasn’t irritated but perhaps using it has contributed to my ongoing issues with dry 👀
I will say that when I used the Josie Maran sunscreen with argan oil i had to stop. The amount of blackheads that were popping out were nuts. I never get pimples So I knew that had to be the culprit.
Dear Dr . I have melaama due to hormone imbalance. Please advice me if I can use hydroquinone along with retinol, retin A or trentinoid.. When do I apply the hysluronic acid. Do I apply moisturizer after retinol at night as I noticed you didn't mention to put it on at night. My other problem is lack of elastin and sagging skin. As far as body, how to I improve lose skin (weight loss and weight gain). I don't want to have even more flaccid skin after losing weight. Loss of volume on my face and creepy and cellulite in my abdomen , buttocks , thighe and hips.
You should be commended on trying to educate the general public. Excellent!!
Mary S it’s my passion and I love to do it ❤️🙌🏼

Monica Straub no bueno. Toss it 😬
@@DrStefaniKappel Dr Kappel can you suggest some cleansers that remove face makeup effectively like an oil cleanser does please 🙏
Good to know, I bought some for a trip, because it's not a liquid! Something was breaking me out, and I have dry sensitive skin. Guess I know what the problem was, most likely. Wow! Thank you.
frankie she uses dr obagi gentle cleanser and Exfoliating cleanser
Love your videos ! How do you feel about the at home microneedling device Dr Pen A7?
Thank you Dr Kappel !!!! Could you say the name of product we should use for hydration instead of oil ??? I didn’t really understand what it was :-) thank you ❤
Very good information! One question can you use Retin-A on your arms and hands to help the skin?
Lisa Telchik absolutely! I do every night!
Youngr by Stefani Kappel MD: Me too! 👏
My new favorite Dr to watch..... Thank you for the microneedling info I almost fell into the trap so your advice has saved me. What is your favorite tinted SPF? Could you please offer some advice for mature necks with wrinkles, saggy and crepe skin? Big hugs and lots of love. XOXO
Marsha Woods based on her instagram stories, she likes the tizo3 tinted sunscreen and the colorscience one
Marsha Woods: Yep, at an office visit she told me she uses TIZO3 Primer/Sunscreen Tinted SPF 40 instead of makeup and that she also likes Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50.
Thank you so much for letting me know. Her skin is so beautiful and it’s so hard to believe she has no foundation on. I’m loving her channel so much.
Fresh perspective. thank you.
Your videos made me feel sorry for throwing my money on bad moisturizers. Please teach us how to choose a hydrator
Will do! Hydrators stimulate your keratinocytes to absorb water. I’ll post soon!!!
Watch my Instagram stories 😘
You are the best Dr.Stefani thank you so much it's my honor to follow you and learn from you ❤️❤️❤️
Zinc and titanyum maybe natural but in sunscreens theyre not 'natural' any more, they are undergoing several chemical processes and also new generation chemical filters are awsome as well 👌
which ones? could you please point me into the right direction? looking for good sunscreen, but don't like zinc based
@@ttatiana Personally i like heliocare brand but there are so many good brands like la roch posay… It depends on your skin type and the form of the products (gel, oil free, cream, lotion ext…) the best sunscreen is the one that you wear ☺️
Awesome video! Thank you ❤️
thanks Dr Stefani for this video
I am currently using adaplene..
can it help me to get rid of sun damaged skin (not melasma) and fade some minor pigmentation spots on my skin??
I am using it alternate days...is that okay???
Alice dsouza this is not Dr.Dray
Alice dsouza did not say it was DR Dray. I am sure DR Stefani knows just as much about adaplene as Dr Dray.
Thanks for all the info. Can you suggest some alternative products or ways on how to solve our skin issues?
Love love love this video thank you.
Thank you for all of your information. Your the best ever ❤

Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge and truth!

one humble request...could you do a video about how to lighten dark circles
I am fair skinned but I got dark circles recently (no work pressure or anything) its more prominent under my eyebrow
i've had the same issue for almost 10 years and cannot find a cause or a solution so yeah that would be amazing!
Me too!
I don’t think there really is a solution. I once read that under eye filler‘s can help. Becca’s under eye concealer is really good. It’s a salmon/pink color.
I have the Becca corrector, it’s good. I haven’t try the concealer dough
jasmin lex yep it’s the corrector! I couldn’t remember if it was concealer or corrector.
great explanation on Fraxel vs Clear Brilliant exactly what I needed know with clear points that make them both good but different! thanks
Could you please give example of hydrators! Thanks!
hyaluronic acid, glycerine, aloe

SkinMedica HA5 Hydrator. 😊
Thank you Dr Stef. As usual a fabulous video.
I would like to know more about (expensive) micro-current devices, like the popular NuFace. Could you please give us some professional info on this? thanks! :-)
💖 your videos doctor!! #gorgeous #flawlessskin #naturalbeauty #thankyou #informative👍🏼
Thx so much appreciated video:) just wonder what kind of hydration you recommend as a day cream?
+Christine I love daily power defense by @zoskinhealth and HA5 by @skinmedica and Alastin skin nectar and restorative complex 😘
Youngr by Stefani Kappel MD thank you so much:)😘
Great video, but I am also confused about the moisturizer part. We should use hydrators? How do you recognize one?
Watch my videos on why oil is bad for the skin
Dr stefani my skin is very dry that my face is flaky i was just wondering what type of products i should use that are not oils or creams that would help moistrize
A good Hyaluronic Acid Serum under my Oil Free Moisturizer honestly made a huge difference for me with the flaky skin
Love all u say! Do u have a skincare line?
what about the skin papers called Frownies.
Lets say that you use the correct skincare and you get your skin in good condition, can the foundation we use totally mess up our skincare progress?
Excellent question. I rarely wear foundation, but I don't want to undo all the good my skincare regime has done when I do wear it.
What are skin hydrators!? I use an oil free moisturiser, is that a hydrator!? Thank you for the advice xx
+Hannah Standen yes!
I’m so confused on what to use!! Gothamista has gorgeous skin and she talks about different hydration options. But it still confuses me!!
@@DrStefaniKappel thanks for the response helps a lot!
Can you also make a video about chemicals that are in skin care and makeup products , that are toxic to the skin and if organic products are better or not? I’m just wondering if these toxic chemicals and using them for a prolong period, can cause liver cyst. Especially Prolong use of Retin A. Thankyou
I love all ur videos! Thank u for all the information! 🥰 what is ur opinion on the plasma facial combined with laser?
You look fantastic! Do you use dermal fillers?
I just want to say thank you for this video it was truly helpful I bought a mineral sunscreen with uv and uvb 100%zinic oxide and my skin as looked so much better and some of my skin pigmentation as slow down
I use tretinoin nightly. What do you recommend for hydration since oil containing moisturizers are a no-no?
The products are kinda expensive but i use a small amount to make them last and I noticed a huge difference within a week. The hyaluronic acid I use morning and night but the Skinmedica serum I only use 1 pump at night. That website offers a discount and I think you can get 15% off your order, so that helps too!
I think a light lotion would be fine. Like cerave pm.
Barb Robbins Cerave PM.
so much confusion
if , everythings is bad , whts is good for skin , skin medica???
Please let us know some good hydrators!
Hi, You Always provide good educational info. Does IT skin care get your approval for hydrating aging skin? I use IT, Confidence in a Jar after applying my ordinary serums at night. I do think it hydrates my skin.
What are your thought on setting sprays, or facial sprays? Thank you. 💋💋💋❤️
Great video, Stefani. Just wondering what sunscreen you use and / or recommend?
I just ordered Neutrogena Sheer Zinc dry-touch sunscreen SPF 30 Active ingredient: Zinc Oxide 18.24%. Hope this helps!
@@erinwoods4217 Thank you so much for your input. I'm going to check the Neutrogena sunscreen out.
She likes the colorescience sunforgetable total protection spf50 face shield
@@Amanda-lr7xp Just looked it up and it sounds great. Thank you for letting me know.
So do or don’t use a moisturizer before makeup application???
I'm new to the channel. Are you advising to avoid all microneedling or just at home treatments?
I'd love to schedule an appointment.
Dr Kappel, can tretinoin be used around the eyes extending above the orbital bone? I keep hearing conflicting answers.
+Sophie Armstrong depends on how sensitive you are. Start with one a week and see if u get irritation. If not then go for it! Mix it 1:1 with a hydrator to lessen the irritation without decreasing efficacy
@@DrStefaniKappel Thanks, Dr.Kappel...you rock!😉

Love your channel 😊 What are your thoughts on the sleep and glow pillow? I’m considering it for under eye bags and helping me sleep on my back?
