The only reason I still play Destiny is because of its really interesting lore and a really supportive community. Sure the story night be bland at times and sometimes you might find a toxic guardian or two... But the friendships we have forged and the fun we've all had together as a rag-tag fireteam are precious beyond compare.
I still keep up with the lore. I just can't bring myself to get back into the game after the mediocre updates and replay value. The lore as it stands and declining community are not enough to hold a candle to what Halo was before that got fucked up by greed too, haha. Bungie and Activision need to apologize to the artists above all. Destiny is a golden turd that continues to be polished, though the developers seem too scared to mold it into the proud statue it should be.
Gaston Morales Biggest reveal of Destiny period. We have yet to see anything much at all revealed within the game, either thefirst or second, and that's kinda the problem. Byf here is actually the reason I stopped playing the game. There's a wealth of lore with which Bungie could form amazing narratives with, IN GAME, yet they haven't. And likely won't. I get what I want from Destiny from Byf, while playing the game just makes me resent the devs more and more.
If the that cutscene you mean is in chronological order (which it has been so far), those ships only arrive after 1 or 2 other DLC. And thus probably in D3
I've never noticed it before, but the Exo Stanger has Saint-14's crest on her cloak. Linking back to one of your previous videos, Saint-14 knew about us, the savior of the City and a prodigy child of the Light, and that we give him his shotgun the Perfect Paradox. So, in our future we'll either go back in time or, more likely, imo, he'll be brought to us, and to do so, we'll need to time travel. The only person we know who can do that is the Stranger, and we might meet her in her past, before she met us for the first time, in order to do so.
Maybe, but I don't think it'll work that way, as we need a Titan from this Time Zone and not from the past. Even so, if we were to meet Saint-14, it would be in the next small expansion and not The Taken Queen
YES YES YES and if you remember one of the grimoire cards from D1, the queen states that there are some guardians she admires, and the card is called saints____. It refer's to saint-14, but as far as i can tell the queen would not have known him. There's something massive here. I'm thinking that the exo stranger gave us challenges that not only got us on the right path, but helped her past self get to the point she is currently in, which gives us the orders that help her past self yadayadayada. PERFECT PARADOX
Given Saint-14 is also an Exo, do you think there are deeper connections between the two of them? Perhaps, they were lovers before the Exo transformation?

Well if she and her followers were trying to hide the weapon/tech from others who wanted it for nefarious use, she likely couldn't run on the grid for very long without getting detected by the Vex or her pursuers.

The after effects of having so many NPC's interacting with our Guardian and Bungies choice to give our character one of four or six different voices depending on what gender and species we chose. Much easier, quicker and cheaper to have the ghost do all the talking than having multiple VA's in the studio to record the same lines. Which is a shame, I've never been a fan of it, I know I've sworn at the screen multiple times when y character just stands there like a muppet.
I hope that in a cutscene later down the line we have a scene where we are having a conversation with the Stranger about having to go back in time and talk to us back in Destiny 1 and we are the person that we didn’t know she was talking to. THAT would be beautiful
Byf, I could just hear it in your voice. This franchise is finally starting to excite with its lore again. I only wish they had tied this into the story/gameplay in some deeper manner, like perhaps a story mission that has us attempting to decode the message. Regardless, this made me very happy. I've been waiting on your video about this since I first heard last night.
They could have made it a series of missions after the main story (which I personally think they should have added Lord Saladin in to make it a dynamic between Ana, Zavala and him so that they each could have their own opinions) but then again going through all this work does make the answer just a tad more satisfying.

I like the way that they did it-- I simply wished they had a quest where Ana was like "hey, maybe you could investigate these weird nodes all over?", instead of us just having to discover them ourself.

I've been facinated by the exo stranger from the moment I met her in D1 and I've speculated with my friend over who she was or could be so to finally see this question being solved but with such an amazing puzzle. And even though we have been waiting all this time it still feels satisfying to finally know the answer to this.
I do hope to see here more often maybe we even might see one day where Ana and Elsie become reunited again even though they have both become two different personalilities. I guess we can't do anything but wait to see where this story goes
I want Byf to be a ghost. We now know that ghost have different voices (a thing that bothered me in D1 a lot). Maybe the speakers ghost, that could have been left behind when he was taken?
Greed is probably the only answer to that. Destiny is under a finite contract with Activision and there is little reason for Bungie to pour their entire heart and soul into it. Keep in mind it is part of their policy to have "No crunch time"

I love the way they're handled this little piece of lore (subminds aside) it's solid and entertaining. One thing that I specially like about this piece of lore is the fact that the Ishtar Collective and Clovis Bray were not really in good terms when it came to sharing info. That feels real, it makes te whole concept credible.
I wonder if we will get non guardian allies. Calus, some fallen (perhaps via the prince), heck maybe even vex since we had that friendly harpy show us around? Or some of the hive? We know Nokris was exiled, and also that some creatures of the hive struggle against the will of Oryx. Alak Hul the dark blade is one such creature

I remember one time was when the Exo Stranger first called your ghost little light when we where leaving after getting the coordinates to the next mission our guardian would jokingly call the ghost “little light” to which the ghost replied “don’t call me that”. These did get patched out when the dlc came but if you buy a disc destiny 1 and don’t do the day one updates and get to this point then you will hear your guardian talk.
@@basedjumper6167 Actually they didn't patch that out in D1, because I bought the Taken King edition for my PS4 and it still had the voicelines there. Also just to note the Guardian did speak in Forsaken and here recently in Shadowkeep. In Forsaken they spoke the only line I think that really needed to be said which pretty much boiled down to 'I am going to cap Uldren's ass'.
No no, pls do a 90 minutes video discussion on time travel, I would be very interested in listening to it and giving my ideas/ opinion on it. To this point the ending cinematic with the awakening of the traveler visited in the right order all locations of the story and dlc, so the next dlc should be on the rife and then empty, maybe meaning a year without dlc or a new game being a nebula that is from where everything is created including planets and stars, meaning a new beginning and then the mysterious ships, probably the war we have been preparing for, we gathered allies, guardians, factions but we also have another ally, the story of the leviathan, the new gear says that we have become klaus shadows, and that maybe his league of allies being fallen ecc, as explained in the previous raid gear lore will be used from us to help defeating the darkness. Fallen with the help of the river and the league of calus, the Kabul, now that we have defeated in the new raid the fleet and second commander of the red legion, calus will reclaim the throne and we will have the help of the cabal and the leviathan itself, the guardians as you told, and Rasputin. All of this will have to help us, in the coming war against those ships, the vex and the hive, all servants of the darkness, it will be ying vs yang, good vs evil, a war that will bring devastation like never before but that in my opinion will not end definitely, the battle will cease and a period of peace will rise but be sure that it’s a war that never ends because there can be no light without darkness and there can be no darkness without light.
Byf, there are a few topics of time travel that could be useful: 1) if Elsi predict the future with the vex device and (as you say) Rasputin, she is our Elsi, not from another timeline because the point of inflex in the time start in her present (presumably in our past) so we are a product of the timeline that Elsi start to make at the moment she became an Exo. 2) if the changes that Elsi did are spread trough time, we have a situation like Osiris in the infinite forest, because there may be more than 1 Elsi because of the fragmentation that she create with every change she make from a timeline before (even after) she first time travel. If she travel from point A to point C and then she travels to point B and in every single point she changes something, it’s very likely that we have 3 versions of Elsi. The one that part from the timeline A, other one in the timeline C (that, in theory doesn’t exist) and other one from timeline B. 3) it’s possible that at in one single point of the timeline there it’s more than one version of Elsi. If the Elsi of a point A in time goes to a point X in the timeline and other Elsi, that is in point J in time, goes to the same point X, there is going to be 2 versions of the same Elsi in one moment of the time.
As for the future of what will happen in the destiny universe and its war. I believe that we will be facing the darkness. The moment we defeat Ghaul and the light is released. A beam of light spreads throughout the solar system and beyond. In the clip you see the light that passes Mars as showed in the last cutscene. Which means the planet of the past expansion. Afterwards comes the reef. Which could be a direct reference to the next dlc. We have also seen a reference to the ship of the queens brother inside warmind, which could indicate that we would allie with the awoken next. Allied with all out forces then face the darkness in an ultimate battle between light, and darkness.
I believe that when the big war comes it will be the Vanguard, the City, the Reef, Rasputin and the Elisksni of the House of Dusk all fighting together to hold back the coming Darkness. It is even possible the Cabal could ally with us out of sheer necessity in the face of what is coming.
my favorite part about this DLC is that it is the first account of a guardian looking into their past. I wonder what/who we were before our ghost found us.

I think a really interesting part of your discussions of gathering future allies is the fact that the first two areas that the wave of light passes by are Mercury and Mars, which are of course the locations of the first 2 expansions in D2. Continuing this, it makes sense that the next place we will visit is the reef, where we might be able to see the continuation of the story of Uldren and the fallen, as well as the return of Mara Sov.

Seems like a good story if our whole quest in destiny is to find out where we came from and how to become one without the travelers light. Break the chains of the light and find freedom in our own quest for self discovery.

Is there any canon evidence that the Exo Stranger worked with Osiris? I believe she was meant to be his assistant in old Destiny concept, but I wonder if any of it still stands. The fact that Osiris is obsessed with the Infinite Forest and seeing all the possible alternate futures certainly ties into what she may have discovered in the Golden Age. I can't help but think that the mystery people she speaks to in the first Destiny are going to be us, the players during the events of Destiny 3. They'll say once and for all what time travel in Destiny is all about.
I think that the person the Exo Stranger was talking to (in the Ishtar) is us in the future, possibly in the next DLC. When she says kill ships power and asks how many, I think she is referring to our ship and the triangle ships. We send her back in time to correct our course so that we are in the ship at that very moment.
Knights of the Nine id be disappointed, but then again, the endgame sort of, is Bungie’s fall or redemption. They should not waste all that years of lore.

Also, in the Ghost Fragment Exo Stranger 2 "RECORD 167 - BRIDGE - 5.2" I believe that was when we first see her atop the hill when we first discover the Hive on the moon however I'm not entirely sure about the text before RECORD 167 - BRIDGE - 5.2 and I'm assuming the final text is when we finally have that conversation with her @0:18.. Finally, who do you think Elsie is referring to when she says "we" in "RECORD 142-BRIDGE-08.1" ??

That Valkyrie replica being buried near VV studio was wild. I ignored all the Stranger reveal videos because I wanted to discover it for myself. Completed everything in Warmind. Still had no idea. So I gave in, watched this video and am blown away by the effort of Bungie and VV to put that clue in the game.
Hey byf I have a thought. In one of the Osiris missions, we enter the infinite forest do the mission and as soon as we leave, ikora says something to the effect of "you just left." Which implies that time in the forest is meaningless. You could spend years in there and there is a chance you could come out on the same day you entered. (This is also somewhat supported by the fact that Osiris didn't seem to notice when the red legion took over the traveler. He wasn't in a time that that could affect him) Which brings me to another point. Saint 14 is likely not dead. Hes just going to die. Think about it. His body was found in the future, a time that couldnt happen for thousands of years, it may have only been simulated that it would take him that long to die. But time (get ready for the head ache.) is meaningless in the forest. Which means that he might not be dead yet, but will most likely die later. In the perfect paradox lore tab it says that it took centuries to build the mind that killed him and depending on to who the time is relative to(is it centuries to us or centuries to him) he may not be dead, they just want to kill him. This raises a few questions. I have a few answers, but I’m pressed for time at the moment

Hi Byf! A (brief) take on the timeline subject. It's my two cents on this topic and I hope I'll be able to stay clear in my explanation. In my view, there is only one timeline in Destiny because it is the only way to justify the need of the Infinite Forest or the FWC Machine: to calculate and classify every events and their probable consequences in order to carefully select them and taylor the timeline toward the future you want (Be it the Vex or the Exo Stranger). It also goes well with one of the theories on time travel (proposed in Universal War One) saying that Present is the summation of all the time travels that took place and will take place. If they were multiple timeline why do we encounter only 3 types of Vex (past present and future) and not an infinite? Granted, they may not be able to cross from one timeline to antoher but if so I doubt the any other life form can, meaning the Exo Stranger IS the E.B. of our timeline. Also the theory on "We are inside the equivalent of the FWC Machine since the begining and the Exo Stranger is here to run simulations on simulations over and over" would be can of sad as it destroy any sense of stakes on the whole game. In short, the Exo Stranger is from our timeline as there is only one, but mimics the Vex modus operandi for the purpose of preservation (and not simply for being eternal, out of time itself) Thank you for reading!

Byf, I don't know if you're familiar with the story Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard, but I think you would find it very interesting, as it has themes centered on "destiny" and the roles we play throughout our life. It's like a side story of Shakespeare's Hamlet, but it is very existential and has a lot of parallels to the overall theme of Destiny (the video game). If you do check it out, pay attention to the Player character and his similarity to the exo stranger. It's really fascinating, just like all of your lore videos. You're a fantastic loremaster and storyteller; keep it up!
Another fun fact: the Bray sisters both have weapons related to them, and used by them, with Legendary and Exotic forms that can be obtained by the Guardian. I feel like Eon Trespass was meant to time travel, while the Shadow Trespass was from the future to travel the Darkness... Where our war will take us. More story, Bungo. You're great when on point, you just need to be on point... far more often.
After Luke Smith said the Exo Stranger story was concluded, I lost hope that we will ever find out who she really was. Instead the people making Destiny have totally turned it around and put her at the center of the entire plot. Such a good job and its always made better by the community pulling together and your insightlful videos.
Since the day it came out, Polaris Lance has been my favorite weapon ever in the Destiny Universe. Not just for its amazing perks and how fun it is to use, but also for the story behind it.

So crazy story I actually know a guy from Vicarious Visions personally! I’m from upstate NY and my girlfriend dog sits for one of their artist John Dobbie. I had no idea he worked there the first few times we sat for him and he had no idea I was a massive destiny fan. After telling him he went into his room and got me a Black Armory Destiny Dev Team shirt that’s now my favorite piece of merchandise. I also signed up another guy that worked there for a gym membership at my job in Albany so you never know who you’ll meet!
This may already be known but the notion of a 'world line' in physics is how objects move in 4 dimensional space-time (3 directional 1 time). Very briefly and oversimplified, a world line is how a single person/entity sees the world from its own perspective and how everything else relative to it (very cool series about it from mintuePhysics). Also I remember (vaguely) from another one of your vids about how the vex 'time-travel' by bending space rather then conventional time travel methods. This obviously leads to the worldline zero sword which, as we can clearly see, is of vex design and has a teleport mechanic. The 'zero' part in the name is the most interesting as it implies that there could be multiple worldlines and we are only in the first (in computer science the 0-th member of a set is the first) so the 'original' world line is called worldline zero. I'm not exactly sure where this could lead but to me it suggest that the up coming war will be on multiple time/world lines, and that we could use the world line zero to jump between them for brief periods. This also could be how (the newly discoverer) elise bray use the 'future sight' vex technology and implanted it into the sword, allowing her to see into the future at will. Lastly I don't think it is out of the question that Elise bray literally travels in time as the effect on the sword could be seen as extremely fast acceleration and deceleration, which according loosely to physics can 'speed up' and 'slow' time. If elise and the other smart people at the ishtar academy actually figured out the einstien-rosen bridge physics to 'work' it could also be possible that time travel is achieved through this way, which she then implants into the sword. The combined power of the vex tech and smart ishtar academics could have figured out literal time travel right before the collapse and never got to use it. It may also be the case that no one at the academy had the ability to/availability to wield it, so Elise turned herself into an exo so she could do it herself. There have been theories that divergence is the actual act of moving consciousness and thus the process of how Elise became exo and her motive for doing so. So after elise used it and saw or *went* to the future, she forged the sword with time travel abilities and hid it from the bray's so that they didn't destroy the only weapon that could save the universe. Or she could have been hiding it from the vex as they have 'soft' time travel and universe predicting abilities, but not complete time travel which would be the ultimate power for them. However the 'real life' physics doesn't work like that but bungie has never really played by the 'real physics' rules before, so this could be possible. I'm no lore master or physicist but, I'm just putting 1 and 2 together and there may be other lore that debunks this. Anyway I could be wrong or this could have already been known, so yeah.
This in and of itself explains the D2 post credits scene. Also, it would make sense if this is the E bray of another timeline but that future timeline hasn’t been affected by what she is doing during D1. It would make sense also that when she says “stay there and hide I’ll be there” or something in D1, she is going back in the future, which hasn’t been affected by her actions yet, and helping Ana Bray from the weird triangle things in the post can edits of D2. If you can understand this in text, your a legend. ( fight me grammar peps )

The only reason I still play Destiny is because of its really interesting lore and a really supportive community. Sure the story night be bland at times and sometimes you might find a toxic guardian or two... But the friendships we have forged and the fun we've all had together as a rag-tag fireteam are precious beyond compare.

I still keep up with the lore. I just can't bring myself to get back into the game after the mediocre updates and replay value. The lore as it stands and declining community are not enough to hold a candle to what Halo was before that got fucked up by greed too, haha. Bungie and Activision need to apologize to the artists above all. Destiny is a golden turd that continues to be polished, though the developers seem too scared to mold it into the proud statue it should be.
I see none of these in Destiny, really interesting lore videos on the internet but beyond that? Not so much.

Byf here is actually the reason I stopped playing the game. There's a wealth of lore with which Bungie could form amazing narratives with, IN GAME, yet they haven't. And likely won't. I get what I want from Destiny from Byf, while playing the game just makes me resent the devs more and more.

I've never noticed it before, but the Exo Stanger has Saint-14's crest on her cloak. Linking back to one of your previous videos, Saint-14 knew about us, the savior of the City and a prodigy child of the Light, and that we give him his shotgun the Perfect Paradox. So, in our future we'll either go back in time or, more likely, imo, he'll be brought to us, and to do so, we'll need to time travel. The only person we know who can do that is the Stranger, and we might meet her in her past, before she met us for the first time, in order to do so.

YES YES YES and if you remember one of the grimoire cards from D1, the queen states that there are some guardians she admires, and the card is called saints____. It refer's to saint-14, but as far as i can tell the queen would not have known him. There's something massive here. I'm thinking that the exo stranger gave us challenges that not only got us on the right path, but helped her past self get to the point she is currently in, which gives us the orders that help her past self yadayadayada. Well if she and her followers were trying to hide the weapon/tech from others who wanted it for nefarious use, she likely couldn't run on the grid for very long without getting detected by the Vex or her pursuers.
Pretty much, yes, in this video. Every time she traveled to the past she more or less only had a few minutes before she had to return again.

The after effects of having so many NPC's interacting with our Guardian and Bungies choice to give our character one of four or six different voices depending on what gender and species we chose. Much easier, quicker and cheaper to have the ghost do all the talking than having multiple VA's in the studio to record the same lines.
Which is a shame, I've never been a fan of it, I know I've sworn at the screen multiple times when y character just stands there like a muppet.

Byf, I could just hear it in your voice. This franchise is finally starting to excite with its lore again. I only wish they had tied this into the story/gameplay in some deeper manner, like perhaps a story mission that has us attempting to decode the message. Regardless, this made me very happy. I've been waiting on your video about this since I first heard last night.
They could have made it a series of missions after the main story (which I personally think they should have added Lord Saladin in to make it a dynamic between Ana, Zavala and him so that they each could have their own opinions) but then again going through all this work does make the answer just a tad more satisfying.

I like the way that they did it-- I simply wished they had a quest where Ana was like "hey, maybe you could investigate these weird nodes all over?", instead of us just having to discover them ourself.

I've been facinated by the exo stranger from the moment I met her in D1 and I've speculated with my friend over who she was or could be so to finally see this question being solved but with such an amazing puzzle. And even though we have been waiting all this time it still feels satisfying to finally know the answer to this.
I do hope to see here more often maybe we even might see one day where Ana and Elsie become reunited again even though they have both become two different personalilities. I guess we can't do anything but wait to see where this story goes

Greed is probably the only answer to that. Destiny is under a finite contract with Activision and there is little reason for Bungie to pour their entire heart and soul into it. Keep in mind it is part of their policy to have "No crunch time"

I love the way they're handled this little piece of lore (subminds aside) it's solid and entertaining. One thing that I specially like about this piece of lore is the fact that the Ishtar Collective and Clovis Bray were not really in good terms when it came to sharing info. That feels real, it makes te whole concept credible.
I wonder if we will get non guardian allies. Calus, some fallen (perhaps via the prince), heck maybe even vex since we had that friendly harpy show us around?

google / you tube They spoke a few times. I remember one time was when the Exo Stranger first called your ghost little light when we where leaving after getting the coordinates to the next mission our guardian would jokingly call the ghost “little light” to which the ghost replied “don’t call me that”. These did get patched out when the dlc came but if you buy a disc destiny 1 and don’t do the day one updates and get to this point then you will hear your guardian talk.
@@basedjumper6167 Actually they didn't patch that out in D1, because I bought the Taken King edition for my PS4 and it still had the voicelines there. Also just to note the Guardian did speak in Forsaken and here recently in Shadowkeep. In Forsaken they spoke the only line I think that really needed to be said which pretty much boiled down to 'I am going to cap Uldren's ass'.

No no, pls do a 90 minutes video discussion on time travel, I would be very interested in listening to it and giving my ideas/ opinion on it.
To this point the ending cinematic with the awakening of the traveler visited in the right order all locations of the story and dlc, so the next dlc should be on the rife and then empty, maybe meaning a year without dlc or a new game being a nebula that is from where everything is created including planets and stars, meaning a new beginning and then the mysterious ships, probably the war we have been preparing for, we gathered allies, guardians, factions but we also have another ally, the story of the leviathan, the new gear says that we have become klaus shadows, and that maybe his league of allies being fallen ecc, as explained in the previous raid gear lore will be used from us to help defeating the darkness.
Fallen with the help of the river and the league of calus, the Kabul, now that we have defeated in the new raid the fleet and second commander of the red legion, calus will reclaim the throne and we will have the help of the cabal and the leviathan itself, the guardians as you told, and Rasputin. All of this will have to help us, in the coming war against those ships, the vex and the hive, all servants of the darkness, it will be ying vs yang, good vs evil, a war that will bring devastation like never before but that in my opinion will not end definitely, the battle will cease and a period of peace will rise but be sure that it’s a war that never ends because there can be no light without darkness and there can be no darkness without light.
Byf, there are a few topics of time travel that could be useful:
1) if Elsi predict the future with the vex device and (as you say) Rasputin, she is our Elsi, not from another timeline because the point of inflex in the time start in her present (presumably in our past) so we are a product of the timeline that Elsi start to make at the moment she became an Exo.
2) if the changes that Elsi did are spread trough time, we have a situation like Osiris in the infinite forest, because there may be more than 1 Elsi because of the fragmentation that she create with every change she make from a timeline before (even after) she first time travel. If she travel from point A to point C and then she travels to point B and in every single point she changes something, it’s very likely that we have 3 versions of Elsi. The one that part from the timeline A, other one in the timeline C (that, in theory doesn’t exist) and other one from timeline B.
3) it’s possible that at in one single point of the timeline there it’s more than one version of Elsi. If the Elsi of a point A in time goes to a point X in the timeline and other Elsi, that is in point J in time, goes to the same point X, there is going to be 2 versions of the same Elsi in one moment of the time.
As for the future of what will happen in the destiny universe and its war.
I believe that we will be facing the darkness.
The moment we defeat Ghaul and the light is released. A beam of light spreads throughout the solar system and beyond. In the clip you see the light that passes Mars as showed in the last cutscene. Which means the planet of the past expansion. Afterwards comes the reef. Which could be a direct reference to the next dlc. We have also seen a reference to the ship of the queens brother inside warmind, which could indicate that we would allie with the awoken next. Allied with all out forces then face the darkness in an ultimate battle between light, and darkness.

I believe that when the big war comes it will be the Vanguard, the City, the Reef, Rasputin and the Elisksni of the House of Dusk all fighting together to hold back the coming Darkness. It is even possible the Cabal could ally with us out of sheer necessity in the face of what is coming.

I think a really interesting part of your discussions of gathering future allies is the fact that the first two areas that the wave of light passes by are Mercury and Mars, which are of course the locations of the first 2 expansions in D2. Continuing this, it makes sense that the next place we will visit is the reef, where we might be able to see the continuation of the story of Uldren and the fallen, as well as the return of Mara Sov.

Is there any canon evidence that the Exo Stranger worked with Osiris? I believe she was meant to be his assistant in old Destiny concept, but I wonder if any of it still stands. The fact that Osiris is obsessed with the Infinite Forest and seeing all the possible alternate futures certainly ties into what she may have discovered in the Golden Age.
I can't help but think that the mystery people she speaks to in the first Destiny are going to be us, the players during the events of Destiny 3. They'll say once and for all what time travel in Destiny is all about.

I think that the person the Exo Stranger was talking to (in the Ishtar) is us in the future, possibly in the next DLC. When she says kill ships power and asks how many, I think she is referring to our ship and the triangle ships. We send her back in time to correct our course so that we are in the ship at that very moment.
Considering that they said there was no more story for the Stranger in regards to us, I find this unlikely.
i have a feeling Ana is not adopted but created by BrayTech and is a one off Exo more advance than any before of after.

Dunno if you'll read this but just to give my small opinion: I wonder if that scannable in the hidden room at the Tower that Ghost says was deleted or redacted by a Bray was in fact Elsie's conversation with Willa from the Worldline Zero lore tab - what d'you you think? Also, in the Ghost Fragment Exo Stranger 2 "RECORD 167 - BRIDGE - 5.2" I believe that was when we first see her atop the hill when we first discover the Hive on the moon however I'm not entirely sure about the text before RECORD 167 - BRIDGE - 5.2 and I'm assuming the final text is when we finally have that conversation with her @0:18.. Finally, who do you think Elsie is referring to when she says "we" in "RECORD 142-BRIDGE-08.1" ??

So I gave in, watched this video and am blown away by the effort of Bungie and VV to put that clue in the game.

Hey byf I have a thought. In one of the Osiris missions, we enter the infinite forest do the mission and as soon as we leave, ikora says something to the effect of "you just left."
Which implies that time in the forest is meaningless. You could spend years in there and there is a chance you could come out on the same day you entered. (This is also somewhat supported by the fact that Osiris didn't seem to notice when the red legion took over the traveler. He wasn't in a time that that could affect him)
Which brings me to another point. Saint 14 is likely not dead. Hes just going to die. Think about it. His body was found in the future, a time that couldnt happen for thousands of years, it may have only been simulated that it would take him that long to die. But time (get ready for the head ache.) is meaningless in the forest. Which means that he might not be dead yet, but will most likely die later. In the perfect paradox lore tab it says that it took centuries to build the mind that killed him and depending on to who the time is relative to(is it centuries to us or centuries to him) he may not be dead, they just want to kill him.
This raises a few questions. I have a few answers, but I’m pressed for time at the moment

With infinite timelines possible, yes, that could happen.
If it's Elsie Bray, then our guardian had to be a Bray. So I'm not sure that would happen.
Hi Byf! A (brief) take on the timeline subject. It's my two cents on this topic and I hope I'll be able to stay clear in my explanation. In my view, there is only one timeline in Destiny because it is the only way to justify the need of the Infinite Forest or the FWC Machine: to calculate and classify every events and their probable consequences in order to carefully select them and taylor the timeline toward the future you want (Be it the Vex or the Exo Stranger). It also goes well with one of the theories on time travel (proposed in Universal War One) saying that Present is the summation of all the time travels that took place and will take place. If they were multiple timeline why do we encounter only 3 types of Vex (past present and future) and not an infinite? Granted, they may not be able to cross from one timeline to antoher but if so I doubt the any other life form can, meaning the Exo Stranger IS the E.B. of our timeline. Also the theory on "We are inside the equivalent of the FWC Machine since the begining and the Exo Stranger is here to run simulations on simulations over and over" would be can of sad as it destroy any sense of stakes on the whole game.
In short, the Exo Stranger is from our timeline as there is only one, but mimics the Vex modus operandi for the purpose of preservation (and not simply for being eternal, out of time itself)

Byf, I don't know if you're familiar with the story Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard, but I think you would find it very interesting, as it has themes centered on "destiny" and the roles we play throughout our life. It's like a side story of Shakespeare's Hamlet, but it is very existential and has a lot of parallels to the overall theme of Destiny (the video game). If you do check it out, pay attention to the Player character and his similarity to the exo stranger. It's really fascinating, just like all of your lore videos. You're a fantastic loremaster and storyteller; keep it up!

Another fun fact: the Bray sisters both have weapons related to them, and used by them, with Legendary and Exotic forms that can be obtained by the Guardian.
I feel like Eon Trespass was meant to time travel, while the Shadow Trespass was from the future to travel the Darkness... Where our war will take us.

After Luke Smith said the Exo Stranger story was concluded, I lost hope that we will ever find out who she really was. Instead the people making Destiny have totally turned it around and put her at the center of the entire plot. Such a good job and its always made better by the community pulling together and your insightlful videos.
Since the day it came out, Polaris Lance has been my favorite weapon ever in the Destiny Universe. Not just for its amazing perks and how fun it is to use, but also for the story behind it.

So crazy story I actually know a guy from Vicarious Visions personally! I’m from upstate NY and my girlfriend dog sits for one of their artist John Dobbie. I had no idea he worked there the first few times we sat for him and he had no idea I was a massive destiny fan. After telling him he went into his room and got me a Black Armory Destiny Dev Team shirt that’s now my favorite piece of merchandise. I also signed up another guy that worked there for a gym membership at my job in Albany so you never know who you’ll meet!
This may already be known but the notion of a 'world line' in physics is how objects move in 4 dimensional space-time (3 directional 1 time). Very briefly and oversimplified, a world line is how a single person/entity sees the world from its own perspective and how everything else relative to it (very cool series about it from mintuePhysics). Also I remember (vaguely) from another one of your vids about how the vex 'time-travel' by bending space rather then conventional time travel methods. This obviously leads to the worldline zero sword which, as we can clearly see, is of vex design and has a teleport mechanic. The 'zero' part in the name is the most interesting as it implies that there could be multiple worldlines and we are only in the first (in computer science the 0-th member of a set is the first) so the 'original' world line is called worldline zero. I'm not exactly sure where this could lead but to me it suggest that the up coming war will be on multiple time/world lines, and that we could use the world line zero to jump between them for brief periods. This also could be how (the newly discoverer) elise bray use the 'future sight' vex technology and implanted it into the sword, allowing her to see into the future at will. Lastly I don't think it is out of the question that Elise bray literally travels in time as the effect on the sword could be seen as extremely fast acceleration and deceleration, which according loosely to physics can 'speed up' and 'slow' time. If elise and the other smart people at the ishtar academy actually figured out the einstien-rosen bridge physics to 'work' it could also be possible that time travel is achieved through this way, which she then implants into the sword. The combined power of the vex tech and smart ishtar academics could have figured out literal time travel right before the collapse and never got to use it. It may also be the case that no one at the academy had the ability to/availability to wield it, so Elise turned herself into an exo so she could do it herself. There have been theories that divergence is the actual act of moving consciousness and thus the process of how Elise became exo and her motive for doing so. So after elise used it and saw or *went* to the future, she forged the sword with time travel abilities and hid it from the bray's so that they didn't destroy the only weapon that could save the universe. Or she could have been hiding it from the vex as they have 'soft' time travel and universe predicting abilities, but not complete time travel which would be the ultimate power for them. However the 'real life' physics doesn't work like that but bungie has never really played by the 'real physics' rules before, so this could be possible. I'm no lore master or physicist but, I'm just putting 1 and 2 together and there may be other lore that debunks this. Anyway I could be wrong or this could have already been known, so yeah.
This in and of itself explains the D2 post credits scene. Also, it would make sense if this is the E bray of another timeline but that future timeline hasn’t been affected by what she is doing during D1. It would make sense also that when she says “stay there and hide I’ll be there” or something in D1, she is going back in the future, which hasn’t been affected by her actions yet, and helping Ana Bray from the weird triangle things in the post can edits of D2. If you can understand this in text, your a legend. ( fight me grammar peps )
Amazing! This makes me want to invest myself in the game again for the lore alone. I really miss the D1 days with the grimore, but it seems like they're trying to achieve the same ends through different means.
