    My favourite pitch effect is using the poly capo or poly pitch in a perfect 5th above, 50/50 mix, this sounds like a 12-string tuned in fifths/fourths. It makes an instant jazz fusion sound ala Pat Metheny. Can't do any chords that have a tritone, such as dominant seventh chords, but a lot of normal chords become nice and fancy. A regular minor triad becomes a minor 9th, a minor 7th becomes a minor 11th, a maj7 becomes a #11th Lydian chord, etc. Maybe I already commented this in some video.

    15:24 Welp, you just spared me from spending a buckload on a Chase Bliss pedal. This sounds amazing

    The Poly FX are Stellar makes sense that the Digitech ( R.I.P) team were involved, the Simple / Dual Pitch is great for adding weight. For some sludgy 'wrongness' the Legacy Bass Octave sound massive and wrong in a good way for classic rock / stoner stuff, the twin harmony is very useful and creates unusual/impossible sounds - I use if for Thin Lizzy / Maiden / Metallica style stuff but with chords if you're a theory buff you can get some unique sounds. The Pitch Echo and harmony echo are astounding and ripe for experimentation. If anyone hasn't fooled around with them - you're missing out. Awesome tones as usual John Nathan \m/

    I love the poly capo. Since it launched, I've used it daily.

      Do you ever go back to the Simple Pitch for some stuff Steve?

      I love the idea but I cant use it in realtime unless I cant hear (or feel) my guitars pitch. It really throws me off.

      @@johnnathancordy I'm primarily a rhythm player, so simple pitch never really worked for me. I just switched guitars a lot.

    Okay that muted pitch shifted bit you did in the intro jam? Super good idea.

      Yeh it has like a pizz strings kinda synthy vibe that I think I might explore more!

    I like the understated tuxedo oodie, very classy plushness. And the guitar playing compliments it so well. Easy to watch great to listen to

    I’ve used the dual pitch as an octave pedal quite effectively, and used the simple pitch to simulate other tunings, or to quickly “change keys” on songs that have multiple key changes like some Maverick City songs. They work great.

    I wish I could get rid of the Whammy DT, but we're a team by now. It takes up something like 25% of my pedalboard, but if it just had expression out it wouldn't be so bad. As it is, I have to have a separate expression pedal. If money and time where less of an issue, I would figure out how to take it apart and integrate the electronics and interface into the pedal board

    for my use having a baked in boost and eq compensation makes them better than the other options, great stuff

    Cool pitch effects, when set up smartly and used with some care. The shifting from major to minor was particularly interesting. I guess one could also do some Modal transposing as well. Hhmm. 🤔 Thanks

    Hey Johnnathan! Love your content! I wonder how close one can get to time stretching delay sounds (like Thermae, by Chase Bliss). Would love to see you trying to cover this ground with the HX Stomp.
    Greetings from Brazil!

    The capo shimmer was pretty choice. I wish line6 would come out with a Stomp that had double the processing power.

      They do - it's called a Helix. I know, I know... I'm not that funny to other people. Maybe as technology gets cheaper, we will one day see a Helix with 4 CPUs and an HX Stomp with 2. That's not impossible. I love my HX Stomp but I, too, sometimes run out of blocks.

    Cool vid esp the pitch delays and other ideas
    I have the ehx pitchfork as a solution pre the poly update and I still lean on it to save DSP but also its a nano sized pedal. The poly FX quality is more or less on par with the pitchfork, except the the poly pitch which seems a little smoother and seems to have a teeny bit less latency even on X stable than the ehx PF but the DSP puts me off the the hx poly even though it's a bit better. I quite like the 12 string though I had to play around to get it sounding ok. I had the idea but haven't tried yet of doing a low mix dual +12 -12 with some chorus to see how close it gets to the 12 string.
    Anywho the ehx pitchfork is a good compliment to the hx stomp for its size and sound quality. It's noisy sharing a daisy chain power supply though so keep it separate or use a good isolated power brick.

    Could you do a patch that would emulate the pitch shifts Steve Vai used on the ballerina song from passion and warfare?

  • @yzimsx

    In 8:27 you say Twin Harmony doesn't work with chords ... well, it does work with at least one chord: the power chord, and to some extent stacked power chords. The default setting of -4th & +3rd creates a triad, and a power chord makes it a 9th chord. Using the default A major scale, try playing power chords in A, e.g. A, G#, F#, ... You'll create thick close voicings that aren't normally possible on a guitar.

    I despair a bit with the pitch effects of the HX-Stomp. I'm looking for an effect that will accurately add an octave down. In this style: ruclips.net/video/jmoR2L5mylQ/видео.html from 4min20. Does anyone have an idea? Everything I've tried has ended in a "sound slush".

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  2 года назад

      The key to that is that the tone is super clean. That should be really easy to achieve with the Stomp if you're just playing single note lines?

    • @ausdemstaub447
      @ausdemstaub447 2 года назад

      @@johnnathancordy Thank you for your quick reply. And yes, I only play single notes and clean. I have the impression that the HX Stomp recognizes the played notes too slowly. What pitch effect would you use for that? I tried Simple Pitch but wasn't satisfied. My old Boss ME-70 was much more accurate and faster. The added bass tone sounded tight and defined similar to the video I linked above. I haven't managed that with the HX Stomp yet. Ideas?

    I love all the poly effects but the poly capo makes your tone sound a bit unnatural even in normal tuning.
