The other sisters call Ale the human metronome. If the click track goes out, it doesn't matter. Ale stays on point. She's a machine and the motor that drives the band.

Ale is amazing and IMO doesn't get the credit she deserves. She's the one with perfect pitch, the human metronome and the best piano player of the 3. She may be quiet but her voice commands respect. Coming from her talented sisters, that says a lot! Great reaction. Keep em coming!

Pau keeps track of the stems, click track and backing tracks (usually small piano parts) through Ableton on her laptop. She is just a freaking genius. Writer, composer, pianist, drummer, co-lead vocal, with a huge personality and a heart of gold. Ask her who her favourite singer is and she would say its Dany. The entire concert is amazing. 22 songs at The Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City. Sold out on a Monday and Wednesday night at the peak of their tour in 2022. Professionally recorded with digital multitrack mix down in post. Multiple cameras. Amazing, high intensity performance. This was The Warning on their full game, playing for Mexicans on one of the best stages in Mexico City. That crowd sang along like family. It's one of the best concert videos I've ever seen, and I've been watching since the 1960s. This family means business!

It's great to see the two in one day, really drives home the point that these ladies do it out of sheer passion and all three are perfectionists. They really work to get it right. Pau said in one of the TedX talks when explaining (when she was 14) that they do it because they love it, and gave up time hanging out with their friends and going to parties so they could practice, because "This isn't just some hobby, it's what we want to do for the rest of our lives." I can't imagine being so driven at that age. Very special people.

Alessia Cara and The Warning did the music video separately, Alessia in Canada with The Warning in Mexico because of the pandemic. Once restrictions were over The Warning and Alessia did get a chance to perform together once. When The Warning performs Enter Sandman live they have Alessia’s prerecorded background vocals. Alessia does the haunting wailing in the background. Dany always takes the time to mention Alessia introducing Enter Sandman in their live performance.

Man, I really wish you went to the OMV of ES before this one. You would have learned MUCH from it, and been prepared for this one that came later. That white Gibson Explorer looks pretty bad ass on Dany. Great story behind that. Dany Is a sponsored Paul Reed Smith (PRS) artist, and Ale is a Spector Bass Sponsored artist. They have a nice list of sponsors going, and I imagine that list is going to grow big and fast. Thanks for taking my advice on the Mayday series too. It's 1 of 2 good ones out there to learn from. Both of their Ted Talks, are another great source too.

Nice Reaction! When Metallica was putting the Blacklist Album together, they told the bands to make the songs their own and not just play it the way Metallica plays it, which The Warning did very good! A lot of those high soaring vocals you hear are Alessia. They use backing tracks for her voice.

You described what happened to me. I remember seeing the original Enter Sandman and it was great but I didn't keep up with them. Then years later I started watching reaction videos and YT would suggest them and I'd see recommendations in the comments and I just kept seeing those little girls in my mind so I ignored it until one day finally checking it out and I realized what the buzz was about. I've been following them for about three years now and that is not long compared to most of the TWA and I am not a Patron but I did buy their three albums and I'm a big fan now. They are great rock band, and not just a great female rock band, but a great rock band.

DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment!
Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice.
in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹

Dany is an incredible vocalist. And not just a vocalist -- she's a story teller. Every single song! She really has it all. If you ever see any of her Dany Day Instagrams, where she sings solo, often without guitar, it's clear she could sing whatever style in whatever setting -- she would be right at home in a Broadway musical, for example.

Yea, Pou runs Ableton Live on the laptop with the click track and any backing track she triggers (via a foot pedal I believe). In this song, the "Aaaaah's" between the verses/chorus are of Alicia Cara, all other harmonies/vocals are the ladies singing live.
I love the re-imagining of this track (which is what they were asked to do by Metallica - just DON'T change the lyrics!) possibly more than the original (dare I say it!) 👍 It's the first track on Metallica's "The Black List" album - a tribute to 30 years since the release of the Black album.

Amazed as you are with Pau's background singing while playing the drums, you will find that she's every bit as good a singer as Dany, though she shines on a different kind of material. Listen to 23, Narcisista, Breathe, Survive, or Dust to Dust. There is also a video where they band did a promo at a radio station and Pau took over Dany's lead part to help preserve her sister's voice, and she sounds almost exactly like Dany. Pau is in many ways the beating heart of the band. I almost forgot to mention the video of Pau singing Creep at her family's barely-in-tune piano. Many people's favorite cover of the song.
I'm always amazed by how BIG their sound is, and that's largely due to Ale, who's being recognized as one of the top bassists in the rock world.

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

Now you -- and we-- are stuck with some avoidable confusion, as this thread illustrates. Sometimes it's like the blind leading the blind. This isn't major, but it's a disappointment nonetheless. I stopped halfway through to say some of the the background vocals, the melodic "woah"s, are a backing track of Alessia Cara, not Pau. Alessia was the initial invitee to partake in the "Black List" project, and some of her singing remains during live performances. Either she, or the record company, or both were kind enough to let The Warning run with the song. Frankly, it's just not Alessia's style of music. I feel better thinking it was Alessia who gave The Warning permission to play it whenever they want, and, essentially, make it their song.

FYI: TW and Alessia are featured artists signed by Chris Smith of 21 Entertainment Group in Toronto as their International Booking Agent. When Alessia was invited by Metallica to contribute a song to the Blacklist album Alessia went to Chris and basically said she didn't know what to do. She didn't even know a single song from the Black album. Chris suggested she collaborate with TW. He had seen them at The Whiskey A-Go-Go in 2019 and even flew to Monterrey, MX to visit with them at their home. Alessia liked the idea and so did Metallica when he proposed the idea to them.
They arranged, recorded, mixed, and submitted their project to the Metallica Blacklist team in 10 days. The producer for the song was Matt Squire who flew to Monterrey on one day's notice. TW were in Monterrey, MX and Alessia was in Canada, so they had do all of this remotely. Infact, when Alessia was recording her vocals, Matt took over her computer to do whatever he needed to do to record her parts. Then, they sent the demo to David Bendeth in New Jersy to mix the song, then it was submitted to the Metallica Blacklist team.
David Bendeth produced the Error album with TW in 2020.

You mentioned the full-size bass Ale plays now. Actually it's an extended scale custom 5-string Spector (which she has at least 3 of). This is her #1 instrument, which although large size-wise, is lighter than stock weight (due to recycled redwood with chambering). By the way, Ale has now retired this bass from the road. But we can keep watching her play it in the videos.

One advantage to watching the OMV for this is that you learn how the song is arranged and what parts are performed by Alessia and the young women of The Warning. But you're pretty observant in that you commented on Pau's laptop, so you likely also noticed that there was a backing vocal track that none of them were singing live - that would be Alessia's part that they keep in the live show. Nice analysis about how Dany has grown into the vocal style compared to their 2014 cover - totally agree on that point. Another good job as usual.
