  • How do you write a story in which the events happen over a long period of time?
The advice is the same whether the events happen over a day or a hundred years: skip to the next important part of the story.
Don't use the reader's time to summarize the gaps between important events. Instead, focus on great showing of each important event, and let the reader fill in the gaps between.
ASSIGNMENT: Write for one full hour. Continue to record your time and wordcount so that you can challenge yourself to improve your writing speed.
FOR FURTHER STUDY: These ideas are developed further in chapter 16 of The Novel Matrix by Brad Pauquette. Get your copy on Amazon here: amzn.to/4d3lrZN
