Love it... Great footage!! I've owned it for some time as well. Teo, it's the photographer AND THEN the glass... I believe your choice of overcast day, etc., made the lens' potential shine through. You've got a great eye and a great future... Keep practicing your art and stay humble yet confident!! Thanks! And, great taste in jazz and editing style!!
I finally just ordered this lens. I know it might not be the best at everything, but it seems the most versatile option. Hope to use it for events photography mainly, and stick with primes for video or portraiture.
Nice review, and basically my thoughts also on aperture, price, performance, etc. 14-140 is nice range , but hard to design a lens that performs well over such a wide range? (Maybe, the music a bit loud ??)
Thnakk you for your review. I'm not usre that this lens is for me. It sure has the zoom range, but at the slow aperture opening, there is just too much light to sacrifice. If I can rent one, maybe I will try it, and see the results I achieve. All my best!
Just got this lens and I have hardly used it yet. My first photos blew me away compared to my old kit lens. There must be something new coming from Panasonic as they dropped the price $100, so, I bought it. Thanks for your review. I don't know if the one you have is the updated lens. And, I don't know what changed on the update. best...kaw
I agree on the lack of smoothness. Its smooth in the sense that it does not feel gritty, but rather it resists turning, which reflects in my video as a stuttered effect. This in turn gives the viewer the impression that there is a rather crude operator behind my camera. Maybe I should use some WD-40. Or maybe not.
Thanks :) I'm pretty in love with my 14-140 so I'd 100% go with that - especially as the zoom range is bigger. But the 12-60 is probably cheaper. I hope you are slightly clarified now :D
Great Footage, Great Review. Needed a lens strictly for floating around wedding Ceremony with my GH5 this may be a contender. Bro, as a Wedding Cinematographer adding Panasonic to my arsenal. I was training to ALWAYS bring my own lights to control the lowlight situations. That range works fine…. Especially when you consider the 12-35 & 35-100 range is covered by this one lens. Heavily used 2.8 for Portraits is understandable but honestly most video cases will have you at f4-5.6 Good pickup for the price.
Hello, that looks great! I'm thinking to upgrade from my smartphone (lol) to this lumix g80 kit for making videos of my parrots... I'm a bit lost as I have no experince in the actual cameras... do you think it'd perform well taking videos of birds, even when I have to move the camera in order to keep them in the frame?
Hello, thank you! :) Pheeew I don't have any experience in filming parrots, but I suppose that should work fine with this lens. The lens is super versatile so maybe actually a really good choice🤷♂️
Well that's hard to tell, because how do you define a good quality picture? The camera does the technical quality (resolution etc.), whereas the lens simply changes the look of your image upon certain factors, such as the depth of field. One point, in which the lens possibly does enhance the quality is a low aperture, because that enables lower ISO values I guess🤔
That's a very good question, because I don't really know :D - I just use the onboard mic from the camera, otherwise I would use an external recorder and sync it in post, which is however a lot of extra work :/
@@teocrawford not you use Pluraleyes,it's the best audio sync program, and literally takes just one click. check it out if you ever get an external recorder
Few things: 1) You shoot really beautiful video footage 2) It is extremely difficult to try to focus on what you are saying because of the loud background music. 3) If I understand correctly, everything but the still shots, are not shot with the lens you are reviewing. This doesn't make any sense to me, and is super annoying, especially when we don't get direct comparison shots at any point. I don't understand why youtube reviewers do this.
1) Thank you :) 2) & 3) Ahhh this video is from ages ago, I was so unexperienced - it's really cringy for me to watch now! :,D Now 2 years later I 100% agree with the two points you wrote, I have no idea what I was thinking back then hahah. Anyway I looked into some of my older videos and found this one ruclips.net/video/ja8QfyOhcYk/видео.html which shows the 14-140mm quite well I think. The first half of the video, so everything in the snow, was shot with the 14-140mm. I hope that can clarify a few of your questions. Incase you want to see some muuuch higher quality content featuring this lens, I uploaded a photography video last week, in which I took the GX80 out with the 14-140mm lens, so you can see some photos. Cheers, Teo

Hi Teo, Great review. i've been using this lens for years too. Joust bought the Leica 12-60 which might end up replacing it.

how do you transfer pictures from the camera easily. i cannot use the app via iphone
is this good for short films ?
Does this lens give you better video quality? Than the kit lens?
No not really, but it gives you far more flexibility🙌🏼
@@teocrawford so if I wanted a better quality picture should I go with the 42.5 lens?

What camera was used to shoot the video?
Great vid amazing shots
Thank you!🙏🙏
Hi bro ! I just bought Lumix G85 body from ebay & looking to buy good lens for Vlog & Filmmaking ! Please give me some options :(
u may consider buying Second hand 45/1.8 or 42.5 1.7,,, or 100-300,,, they all produce quite beautiful bokeh at a reasonable price.
oh second-hand is a good hint - I might check the market :D
U may consider your face 😆 😂 🤣
Hi teo..this is great video..i just consider to get this lens for my old gh2
Thanks! Yeah sure, it's a great lens :)

No I didn't have a gimbal - the GX80's IBIS + the lens stabilization did the job together👌🏼:)

This was in Premiere Pro :)

I was shooting with the 20mm f/1.7 :)
which lens did you use to shoot this video, just curious.
the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 👌🏼
