Ending scene with Vader was awesome , but i loved the whole movie

Most of the movie was really good. But the whole ending. Space and land battle, well done, gritty and there was suspense. Especially the Vader scene. I hope Disney continues this way and not the Force Awakens way.

Roy Varghese i agree. And lets say that Darth Vader scene was one of the reshoots supervised by JJ Abrams. And there is not build up in this movie for that scene: that scene works only if you watched episodes IV and V, Rogue One had nothing to do with it.

Episode III is my favorite prequel film, AND it is my 4th favorite SW film of all time. If Lucas had let someone take the reigns for 3, it could have been as good as Empire. Too much CGI, and plenty of cheesy lines. Does Palpatine really need to say "Unlimited power!!!" ? Still, Palpatine's seduction of Anakin is nearly perfect. McDiarmind was stellar (White the material he was given).

andreas wiig wennesland it's not so much that you don't have to like every movie, it's that now I have to accept TFA as cannon... and rebels tv show... and that hurts my soul way more than the prequels ever could. Both are missing the Lucas touch, and while it was more absent in the prequels than in the Original trilogy, it was still there and that magic was taken from TFA, and replaced with a lifeless more vague version of a new hope's script... it hurts me only bc I love Star Wars so much

Battle of Scarif is the best ground battle in history of SW!
The space battle was also very well done. Especially the fighters and the way they moved.

Personally I think Rogue One is one of my favourite of the 8 movies. I'd actually pit it up there in the top 3. Better than Episode 7.
Without spoiling it, this movie is rolling for the entire two hours... so much is done to pay homage to the originals but also enriches them. Pure beauty. Anyway my list:

Loved Rogue One. One question that's been nagging me though. Was that indeed the Ghost from Rebels in the space battle above Scarif?
Zack Briggs I think it was. At one point on Yavin you can hear someone say over the intercom, "General Syndulla, report to-" so that is either referring to Hera or her father.
You also see it parked on Yavin in one of the establishing shots. It's in the top left corner of the frame

I am 41 , born in 75 so I saw Empire strikes back first because my dad took me when it came out to the theatre, so I loved it as most kids did, I then saw a new hope on video player ( beta ) remember those lol, anyhow then a few years later return of the Jedi comes out and I was 8 years old and the theatre was packed, then 1999 and We are all getting excited wow we are getting our first Star Wars film since 1983, so I am a 24 year old when Phantom comes out and the theatre went crazy when the famous music starts and the words roll up the screen, all in all Phantom was not our Star Wars movies we remembered the characters were cool , the music was cool , everything was fun but somthing was missing and it was the same void in all the prequels, it was the realistic star ships flying and battling , the details of the ships and many of the images had been put on screen by way of CGi, that was the big difference I believe it was CGI replacing models, but no matter what I still loved the prequels just not as much as the original movies, then by 2015 a new Star Wars film comes out and I am a 40 year old father of Two boys by now , When I saw the Force Awakens I honestly loved it, finally we got a Star Wars film that was comparable to the originals and I mean it was even better then Return Of The Jedi in my opinion but nothing was ever going to come close to Empire Strikes Back , the dark but fantastic in every which way it had everything. Then yesterday this almost 42 year old man watched Rogue One and I just loved it , to me it was meant for adults who went through all those original films especially that special one Empire and this film Rogue one had that same feel without all the magical Jedi stuff which was ok because it has a realistic zero in on inner ground battles and they gave us our One and only Darth Vador just enough of him to not spoil the realism of this one of a kind Star Wars movie it is special on its own, I will leave my Star Wars movie rankings,

Before everyone starts hating me the reason why force awakens is lowest on my list is because I feel it was more of a remake of episode 4 and had a little too much fan service and comedy. P.S the reason Rogue One is my favourite is because it fixes a lot of plot problems with the original trilogy and ties together the prequels, the originals and the series

I just watched the movie yesterday and I think my favorite scene was when the whole team sacrifices them selves to transmit the Deathstar plans and especially when Jyn and Cassian were holding hands and about to die because that scene almost made me cry 😥

That darth Vader scene tho
The ending and easter eggs along the way were excellent, but the main plot was dry. I didn't have any connection to the main characters. It was more of a 'root for the Rebels' feeling. In the end, it did push the envelope visually, and it kept it's WWII influence. Respectable SW movie and with an ending I just may splice into my ANH copy.

Tiers of Star Wars movies for me
Second only to Empire, IMO. I had zero expectations walking into the cinema and when we walked out, even my friend who is a Star Trek guy and doesn't really care about Star Wards, admitted this was an excellent movie.

No Spoilers. Big Star Wars fan, so i am easily won over but Rogue One is a REALLY GOOD MOVIE! highly recommend everyone go see it 3-4 times and really tell Disney we are happy and want more of the same! We need a Knights of the old republic, Obi wan, and boba fett / hutt movie.
I think Rogue one blew ep 7 out of the water (Although i did like it). my ranking of star wars movies:
1. ep 5 (ESB) - One of the best movies of all time. no flaws.
2. ep 4 (ANH) - One of the best movie of all time. seen a million times
3. Rogue One - EPIC !! Loved it. Great story, acting, and effects. THE REAL Darth Vader lives on !!! Will probably watch 3-4 more times in the theater.
4. ep 3 (ROTS) - Really liked this movie alot except for yoda giving up so quick against palpatine. if this movie had came out before the original trilogy, yoda would have fought to the death. besides that no complaints i can watch this 1000 more times.
5. ep 7 (TFA) - Good but not as great as the hype. the final cut of the movie left too much out, 30yrs pass and no back stories of the resistance and first order. we just pick up in the middle. maybe filled in by ep 8 and 9, but until then this movie has big gaps and flaws.
6. ep 6 (ROTJ) - ewoks really drags this movie down and I always felt that Vader was too soft in this movie compared to the rest. I understand him loving his son and being redeemed. But the whole movie Vader is just there, not really the presence in the other movies
7. ep 2 (AOTC) - overall liked it except for the all too frequent TERRIBLE ACTING AND DIALOGUE!!!
8. ep 1 (TPM) - besides the obvious of Jar Jar destroying this movie, was just a tragic mistake.
I hope Disney reboots the prequels :D
Have to disagree with you on this one Charlie. This movie was boring as hell. I like Star Wars but am not ready to label every movie as "good" just because it's Star Wars. If this wasn't a Star Wars film no one would care about it.

I didn't think it was better than 7 but it was amazing. it was better where 7 was weak (music, world building, space action) but much weaker where 7 was strong (story, characters, humor).

The one problem I found was that they didn't explain enough at the beginning that this wasn't a sequel. My wife is a casual viewer. She was wondering what happened to Rey. She spent the first half wondering why she didn't recognize the characters.

Apparently there was more of Vader that was cut out.
-One scene in particular was Krennic talking to Vader in another room with this dialogue, "The POWER, we are dealing with here is immeasurable!", comes from the second trailer.
-The other scene was Vader in a dark room looking at red linear coordinates or diagram shown in the first trailer.
Other big scenes that were cut out.
-A scene where Jyn with the Death Star plans running towards the AT-AT, along with the rest of the rebels as shown in the first teaser.
-Another one was Jyn limping on the bridge and a Tie Fighter appears in front of her seen in the first trailer.

The movie lived up to every expectation and hope i had for it its defiantly in my top 3/4 favorite Star Wars movies. The movie gives A New Hope so much more meaning.

The way they used the CGI for Tarkin and Leia blew me away, you can literally bring back actors from the dead as they did here. It was also cool to see them add the two guys from the bar on Tatooine, also with a clip from A New Hope with Red Leader, and Wedge. The Darth Vader lightsaber scene was super cool and dark, and awesome that James Earl Jones has made the complete circle with Vader. I know there is so much more to write but I'm still just in awe of the movie. The movie was so well written, and shot so well and just gives the original movies so much more meaning. I'm going to go see it again here shortly.

Sorry to break it to you guys, but you were carried away by the nerdgasm, I thought i would be too, but this movie is just bad. It's plain, extremely cliché, the characters are flat and pointless. Very disappointing.
I know most of you disagree, but consider one second that you are biased by this franchise. Don't let them milk the cow to hard.
