      When I started doing these vids I didn't consider them teaching tools. I was just filming what I was doing. Heck I even considered talking about non repair related topics with the repair rolling in the background. I quickly realized many people were looking for repair videos and others were just looking to see how someone else was doing it. If I was filming these on my own time and not the company clock they would be more of a how to video.

    Thanks for video, really like it and wish something like this existed when I started repairing small engines.
    Just one thing, if you replace ignition coil and its different part number than what you had on saw( because of new series or update), you have to update that od CST software.
    Keep up good work, LATER!

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Год назад

      Correct. If its a different number then you need to do an update of the firmware.

    Saw looks pretty new. Think that'll be a common problem?

    • @rooster3019
      @rooster3019 Год назад +5

      I think this IS a common problem with 5 series. My 572XP had its module/coil die after just a few hours of use. Same thing; "we ordered the part, but it will be 3 or 4 months". I bought the part from far away dealer who had one in stock and screw the warranty.

    I really like that on the Mk II saws for both the 550 and the 562, the electronic control for the carburetor isn't mounted underneath the flywheel. One less step to the replacement process!

    Good vidio as always, i thought when replacing a coil on these 5 series you needed to connect with the service tool and put the coil numbers into the carb autotune. Is that correct🤔 please let us know

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Год назад

      If its the same part number coil then you don't need to update the firmware.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Год назад +1

      I mean...ya get what you pay for. Those $20 units are cheap. I like using oem even if they are used. Call a dealer for msrp and if its decent just buy it. If its expensive then look for a used unit on ebay for half the price of new.

      Are you doing this just to build a saw and flip it or do you have specific needs. Either way I'd stay away from Mtronic and Autotune to keep costs down.

    I just mounted a new coil, the saw starts easily but dies as son as I touch the throttle ore after a short time in idle. The old coil is made in 2021, the new coil is made in 2022 and has a different parts number. Do I need to take the saw to a shop and have the coil pared with the carburetor due to a newer coil? Thanks in advance from sweden..🙂👍

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  8 месяцев назад +1

      During a firmware update the system asks which coil is installed so it does make a difference. I'd say yes if you used a different part number coil you will have to get it updated. Having said that, you may have other problems.

      @@TheGreasyShopRag thank you very much fore your quick reply..🙂👍 the saw run perfectly well until the coil gave up. I suspected an air leak because I took the carb of to clean the saw. After mounting the carb I heard a hissing sound when I purged the saw. The hissing sound came from the tank valve so that shouldn’t be the problem? Everything looks fine and I can’t see any leaks when I spray the saw with soap water..🤔 I guess I have to spend the money and take the saw to the “Doc”..🙂👍

      If you're looking for middleweight saw check out the 555 and the 562XP. Both are 60cc saws with slightly different personalities. 555 is smooth and grunty and 562 is a bit more peaky. Go down or up (in size) from these two saws depending on your needs.

      They just release the 562xp mark II. If you need the latest and greatest then there ya go. Otherwise there may be some dealers looking to move old 562's.
