Me too! My 361 is only 4 oz more and has 9 cc more power. I do love the original 550xp, they should have upgraded the muffler and air filter and left it alone. The new filter anf muffler is the only cool features i see on the mark2.

Stihl went to the slanted fin design and husky went backwards to the flat fins and added more weight, no decompression valve, louder muffler, ill stick with my old 550 and 261 new edition. Seems like husky fans don’t criticize anything bad the company does.

I worked with a 550 Mk1 for years at a tree company. Hands down my favorite ground saw of all time. Very light and nimble, and powerful enough that we only went to a larger saw when we ran out of bar length on the 18" we had on it, and that would depend on if we were making a lot of cuts or not.
When I saw a Mk2 at a dealer, picked it up, then put it down in disgust. I don't care that it makes a little more power. Its chunky and doesn't feel perfectly balanced like the Mk1. I can't imagine swinging it all day on the ground when it weighs so close the the 562 and has less power.
The 550 xp had the perfect balance of being nimble and powerful for an all day ground saw.

To make it short. Is it worth to do an upgrade when your " old" 550 is running well? Why not simply put the 1,3 325 bar and chain on the old one? I can not understand, why the new 550 is 400g heavier. Stihl made the upgrade up to 4,1 hp without making the saw heavier. Why not Husqvarna?

Man I tell you I was stoked when my company started giving us the new mk2 right when they dropped a few years ago. I have run countless hours on both versions, and I can't stress it enough that I would pay 800$ for an OG 550xp over the 600$ mk2. The MK2 will cease up in the cold North East winters, clog up in the rainy summers. And the Bubble, I'm telling you the bubble man it's all about the bubble. If you fuel up on both gas n bar oil to the rim, you just tilt the saw round and das bubble does it's magic, on mk2 you fill the rim and try closing the caps and bam got a lil juice on your saw hands or gloves Brah. If you can find an ol OG husky 550, friggin buy it! Don't bother with the MK2, my advice. Foreal man I'd bring the OG 550 to a gunfight such a reliable workhorse. Even seent one drop outta a bucket over 40' bar was done butt ol gal was still fighting 💣💣
