The singing of Franco Corelli is not from the Earth. We in Vienna we are also Franco Corelli enthusiasts forever.
We became older, and we are asking ourselves, if the next generation and further generations will be such opera lirica fanatics as we are?

Franco Corelli was the opera performer I saw at the Old Met in 1962. I could not believe that I saw about 20 curtain calls after the opera “Tosca” ended. In 1967 I took my wife to Pasadena to see Franco Corelli in another performance of “Tosca”. No words can ever due his singing and his vocal power justice. He was the greatest tenor I have ever heard and seen.

I was there too. I had already seen him in Fanciulla and Chenier and saw the video of Tosca. Had to drive in heavy rain from San Diego. I'm so glad I started listening to Franco in 2015, as they say, better late than never. I do have a problem tho, if I listen to him sing something I do not like hearing it sung by anyone else. That's ok I have a number of his
CD's and several videos that I listen to. I try to send examples of his music to friends so people who otherwise have not heard his music can enjoy and appreciate him as well. I think it's important to not let him or his music be forgotten.
That's OK, I have the same problem. That's because nobody compares to him!!
yes, but we have now this fantastic RUclips possibility, we never had former. Former we had the cassette recording from the radio, and TV and CD. В этот день, 29 октября, тихо ушел Франко Корелли, чудо природы или, может быть, божье чудо. Природа преподнесла людям великий дар - почти идеальное ангелоподобное создание. "Почти" это для того, чтобы ему не очень завидовали. Но кажется люди не конца поняли, с каким сокровищем они жили в один отрезок времени. Они смотрели на человека с голосом Орфея и внешностью прекрасного древнегреческого бога, слушали его совершенный голос и, наверное, для многих это было привычным, почти обыденным. Ведь к совершенству быстро привыкаешь. Но он ушел и такого чуда больше никогда не будет.
Я узнала о Франко Корелли и услышала его ГОЛОС слишком поздно и теперь мне остается только чувствовать озноб от прослушивания финала "Норма" с Марией Каллас и Франко Корелли. Остаются слезы над 4 актом "Андре Шенье" и "Ah, non mi ridestar" Вертера от 1955 года. Остается радость, что жил на нашей грешной земле Франко Корелли и приносил людям радость своим искусством, и приносит счастье и радость до сих пор.

Hearing Franco voice affect us as opera lirica-enthusiasts in a singular way, who can describe this in any language or with any words? The opera lirica-enthusiasts worldwide were remembering on Thursday/08/April/2021 that Franco Corelli was born before 100 years. The Austrian broadcasting OE1 (oe1.at), the opera lirica-redaction was airing exactly on this day a special performance about our great Franco.

Now we have the situation in the opera that the opera is systematically deconstructed from the regie. The Regisseurs from today want completely destroy the opera, and they want to install a so called “deconstructed opera” for a new publicum. But this does not work. And where is a new publicum? In these horrible times we are living? And the new singers with which singing-material? Not one singer (tenor absolutely not more exists) now sings in not one discipline, who can compete with the old singing.
And now only some days before remembering to Maria Callas 100th on 2/December/2023, we are constituting that our time of opera enthusiastic opera publicum will go with us for forever. We are really the last generation of opera-lovers.
In Vienna the opera-house is degenerated to a touristic-attraction, with a very few opera enthusiastic publicum alive. But how long, 10 years, maximally 20 years?
In conclusion, we are sitting at home, and we are hearing the old singing thank to RUclips and the postings, with headphones, and often closing our eyes and dreaming.

Bonisolli, ein völlig anderes Temperament, oft ungehalten, aber im dramatischen Fach ebenso unerreicht wie Corelli . . .
