@@sarickacampbell2642 I don't agree that Gabriella doesn't work for what she has. In HM1 she gets drafted into Decathalon b/c she was skilled. She mentions she didn't want to do it at first b/c she had spent her childhood competing and being the "child genius". She earned her musical spot b/c she won the auditions 🤷🏿♀️. Just because you're new to a thing doesn't mean you're not practicing the skill. Also they show her practicing through out the first film. And she obviously wants to do theater she was just shy.
What I think is actually happening is the story not giving Gabriella much to do b/c she exists to further Troy's storyline. It's a fate that befalls a lot of girls/women in film. Their story gets put on the back burner.

That reminds me of the time in my ninth-grade drama club when my character was supposed to be angry and throw someone else into the table, and everyone was telling me I was being too nice, and then I kinda went for it and they were all impressed (and maybe mildly scared).

Read the book adaptation of this when I was little. In the book Taylor and Chad go over to Gabriella's house before the talent show and convinces her to come back and gives her the necklace. Ever since then I've just assumed that's what happens off screen in the movie

Benji's comment at 31:13 was literally me watching this series as a kid. I loved everything about Sharpay, like the outfits, the songs, I was obsessed with pink at the time too which definitely helped. I even had the HSM 2 Sharpay doll that came with the pink mustang. I knew I wasn't supposed to like her more than Gabriella though as she was the villain so it was a very conflicting time for me and my 6 year old morals lol

My memorable moments (aka what I remember from watching this 4 days ago):
- The summer time song was a JAM, possibly the biggest one of all
- The hummunuku scene was hilarious, I would pay good money to have been in Troy's place
- The moment that even Sharpay's golf balls turned out to be pink I lost it, that girl was living the dream
- The entire Bet On It scene had me speechless, no parody could've parodied it better than what they've done
- The reflection of Troy's face in the water had me in awe, CGI peaked right there and then

I haven't seen these movies in a long time and I'm surprised how much of the lyrics I still remember. All these movies hold a special place in my heart. The first one came out when I was a freshman in high school and I was dealing with my lupus and seeing these movies helped cheer me up in many moments. Also loved Zanessa(Zac and Vanessa) I really was truly devastated when they broke up, actually found out when I was in the hospital so that was a sucky moment. But no matter what Troy and Gabriella will always be together. So glad for your reactions.
