golly mid 60s as a young teenager I used to volentere at the peace reserch centre on upper church street, ran by quakers.. blast from the past.. thanks
My wife (Ukrainian) and I (French) moved to Lancaster in 2018 for my studies. We immediately fell in love with the place. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, we were both furloughed at the same time and had to pack our bags and move back to France. Now, our situation is a lot more stable that it used to be in the UK. But I still get a pinch in my heart whenever I see pictures or videos of Lancaster. Before moving there, we had lived in several places in France, Norway and Ukraine. But we never felt quite as "at home" as we did in Lancaster. Now I'm looking forward to the future, hoping that I'll someday be able to move back there, maybe for my retirement, in a quaint little town in the lake district. Anyway, thank you for this video that brings back so many memories, especially that of the building were we used to live, at 45:00, right in front of the train station.
Spent a semester at Lancaster Universirty doing a diploma course staying with agreat local couple back in 1991. It surprisingly remains intact and as peaceful. I hope some day I can go back there and wander the streets as I used to do.
Shame it was a day that Lancaster turned into a car park with all the cars stuck on the one way system. Only downside to the place really. I've been living here 30 years and love it, small enough to get around, plenty of history and some surprises hidden down random alleys.... such as our cinema... which most people get lost trying to find when they're from out of the area. The rocking horse over the chinese diner has been there a long time, it was refurbished a few years ago after a lot of neglect when the original toy shop it was promoting closed down. That shop used to be a great toy shop a few decades ago. There's also a pharmacy on the northbound side of the city, on the A6 with an old mortar above it.

Went to uni here. Great little city and great location near all the National Parks. Thanks for the walk, enjoyed watching it.

👍
It doesn’t seem to have changed much in 25 years. That could be a good thing.
First time here.Seemed quite pleasant on the day I was there.
@@WalkingUK Yes it is quite peaceful here, except for the parties held in the suburbs outside town(I call it that)
Is a good thing.
looks a bit rough. all betting shops and oxfam etc ?
i can see quite a few homeless people in the centre.@@peppasiesi
Did you watch the video? While depressed towns in England are full of Oxfams and betting shops, this is NOT a depressed town.
