- Repairing and restoring a Powr-Kraft 84-5434 bench vise. I bought this old broken vise for $5, unaware of just how many problems it had in store for me. It's made by Milwaukee Tool and was manufactured in Japan but I'm not sure what year. This is my first attempt at vise restoration. See the links below for the parts and tools I used:

Wow! You did a wonderful job on that mess of scrap iron ( vise ) ! I don't know what else could have been wrong to start. That hyd press will come in handy much more often than you might think.
Thanks! I've used the press on some more recent videos and, while I don't use it every day, there's no substitute when you need it. :)
Job well done! You can get many, productive years out of that vise.
I appreciate the comment, thanks for watching! :)
Good video, thanks
Thanks for watching! :)
Good job!
Thanks for watching!
youre placing an awful lot of trust in that homemade bandsaw holder LOL
the end result was really nice though i was surprised how well it turned out
Hahaha, the bandsaw mount is holding up well so far. Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks, I appreciate it! The restoration was a lot of work and ended up taking much longer than I first thought.
I just picked one of these up for free, I may try restoring this winter.
Free is great, it'll be a fun project!
I have one of those vise I have been restoring it also but mine doesn't have as much problem's as your did
Yeah, this one probably wasn't worth the effort, but I don't care because I enjoyed the project. :)
I have a powr kraft wood lathe I'm going to clean up a bit and I was wondering what paint you used on this vice?
It was some Ace Rust Stop Gloss Safety Blue spray paint, from Ace Hardware, left over from a previous project.
@@Mikeattempts Looks like it's been about a year, has it held up decent enough for ya?
@@abbage28 Yep, it's holding up well.
What is that washer/cotter pin think called that you removed at 1:32? I have an old vise that’s missing one.
I had to look it up, but it's called an E-Clip.
