That click noise I reported to carenado and simcoders they told me they couldn’t find any issues. It’s a glitch in the simcoder rep. If you remove the rep it stops. Glad to see a video of someone else having this
Great job Gene. I enjoyed your video and real world experience. I am an avid sim user and a GA low hour pilot. I find most of sim models (all 47 of them) to be hyper sensitive on most manual operations (brakes, rudders and even aileron roll sometimes, but especially ILS.) Chasing the needle in the sim seems to be much more difficult and less forgiving than the real thing, at least in the small aircraft.
Thanks for watching, Bill! Yes -- you're right about the sensitivity. Real airplanes are usually easier to fly than simulated ones. That's true even all the way up to full motion level D simulators. Cheers! Enjoy your simming!
Hi, thanks for share with us the real values and procedures of the real PC-12. Just for help you, by default the views are configured at the numerical pad: 1= brake view / 2= center console down view for lights switches / 3= Avidyne close view / 4=pilot down view to access some controls like headiang knob / 5=Close center instruments panel / 6=Co Pilot View / 7= Passenger wind view / 8=Upper panel view / 9=Top high tail view / 0=inside, rear view from passengers to cockpit. The Parking brake works only pressing the right pedal and leave the left pedal reseased . With the Logitech Throttle Quadrant you can configure the T1 - T6 butons my custom setup. ( T1=Gear up / T2=Gear down / T3=Flip standby frecuency Com1 / T4 Flip standby frecuency Com2 / T5=Servos on (auto pilot ON) / T6=Toggle Yawdamper on/off. Before do this custom setup Go to Joystick menu and create a Active Profile ( Select Device at the upper left dropdown) left down Manage Profiles > Create new profile > name it (airplane name i recomend) > Done> After this any custom setup you do will get active automatic when you select this airplane. Check at the right of this window, push any button to view flashing as the function name, you can change it each joke or other control button at Edit button, browse all the choices. For the Yoke you can also do the same custom setups. my setup talking button=Contact ATC, Pitch trim may be reverse you can change it, right aleron trim I used to 45 left or right “Glance view” the red button I use it for default view, some examples to be more quick at my single pilot simulations. Hope this help you, any questions contact me.
waoo you are really prepare pilot thank you have learned alot and made lots of notes of this video. thanks from a pilot friend. keep it coming bro and have a good one.
Thanks for the great comparison. I’m waiting for someone to make a good mu-2 so I can make a real pilot comparison. Haven’t flown one in years but would love to have a sim version.
Enjoyed your video. The PC-12 is time is my all-time favorite GA airplane. Unfortunately, Carenado was focusing primarily on eye-candy rather than immersion when they developed the PC-12. They are not one to circle back for upgrades. All sim aircraft is a big stretch from any real-world aircraft but this version of the PC-12 is a galaxy apart from realism. The STMA PC-12 is a lot more functional but its eye-candy and sounds leave something to be desired. Since I'm not a real-world PC-12 I can't really speak to the flight modeling. I can say that I rather fly the STMA version for immersion over the Carenado version. I have been practically begging someone to model the Honeywell Apex avionics suite for an NGX version. There are a couple of developers who claim to be working on the NGX version. I'm hoping I'll see tone this year. BTW, I have a couple PC-12 videos by STMA available on RUclips. There's another real-world PC-12 pilot who's produced a YT video on the Carenado PC-12. You guys are remarkably similar in procedures. I'm looking forward to emulating as much of your procedures as possible in my next PC-12 flight. Thanks for pointing out what's realistic and what's not.
Thanks for watching, Frank! Glad you enjoyed. And, thanks for your comments. I wasn't aware of the STMA version -- I'll definitely check that out. Like I mentioned in the video, I don't spend much time in the sim so I'm the last to know about these things sometimes. It's a great tool for currency though. The NGX is a beauty! There aren't too many of them flying around just yet, but it'll be another successful program for Pilatus, no doubt. I also fly the 47E model (which is the NG), and it's got the Honeywell Apex system just like the NGX. It's a fully capable FMS that does everything a system on a jet will do. I'm also type rated on the Citation XLS. The Apex Primus is preferable to the FMS on the jet in almost every way. It has full VNAV functionality, etc. Great system! Takes a little bit of learning to get comfortable with it, but then it's no sweat. As for our procedures (mine and the other pilot you mentioned), that's pretty typical. Most of us train at FlightSafety or SimCom at least once a year and many of the procedures come straight from manufacturer guidance, so it stays pretty consistent across the board. Stay tuned for part 2! I'll head over and check out the STMA on your channel. Cheers!
@@GeneStuart My videos are probably way too long for you to watch. However, here's one I did that compares the two versions.(ruclips.net/video/JlNTfdjpl_c/видео.html) There is an index in the notes so you can skip around.
If you use the right mouse click to look around i think its easier, also you can click a button and right click and hold your mouse to look around while holding the left click it leaves the buttons on. Also if you turn the gpu switch on it acts as if gpu is connected.
Thanks for this thorough video. I was wondering if you use aileron trim a lot. Since I use a rather heavy warthog stick I find myself trimming more than in other planes.. Is this accurate?
Thanks for watching, Andreas! As for the aileron trim, it doesn't get used much in the real airplane. Of the three trim systems, it gets used the least. I flew an old Series 9 that I almost never touched the aileron trim in. In the Series 10 in some of my other videos I did use a little bit of aileron trim from time to time on landing just to neutralize some control force on final. All airplanes (even of the same model) fly slightly differently... no two are built the same.
Disappointing that you were able to pick up so many inconsistences in realism between the real aircraft and the XP11 version. Why don't they ask real pilots to verify their software before they release it. It should be all about as much as REALISM and many of the things you have mentioned could have been easily implemented!
Hey, Reg. Yeah, I hear you. I'm not sure what kind of budget these developers are on, but I can't imagine it's very big. I don't know a lot of pilots that would do this type of consulting work for cheap, so I think it's just out of most devs' price range for a recreational product like this. Personally, I'd work with them on my fee to give them some guidance. I think it's a worthy donation to the flight sim community. Like you said, realism is important and lots of people are using these products to seriously learn about aviation. If they ask, I'm here! :-)
Its carenado, they advertise these are tested by real world pilots but as developers they only care about things looking good and not accuracy of the technical stuff. For that you should go to torquesim or hot start and justflight. They are far more in-depth but unfortunately don’t have a pc12 in their catalog. Maybe one day though

@@runninggames771 It's decent. The performance characteristics are fairly accurate. The maneuverability is a little bit off, but the heaviness of the control forces in the Legacy is hard to replicate in a sim.
All those discrepancies are a little frustrating. Of course Carenado has never really be into much realism nor claimed to be, their main strength is the 3D modelling. But the REP should address at least some of those issues, have you tried to contact SimCoders about it?
