No, I intended to hike the whole thing but they literally closed all the national forests in California and we couldn't go on. A few people from my year managed to, sorta, finish regardless. They waited for parts to reopen and then jumped around a ton. Nobo for a bit here, sobo there as places opened but it was rough and crazy smokey for them still.
Snow?!? Wow. I was probably south of Crater Lake by then and had no idea. That's crazy weather. It's fun looking back on PCT 2021 through your lens. Looking forward to watching the rest of your adventures!
It was a decision that we were avoiding. We had already taken two weeks off to hike the Oregon Coast Trail, hoping the situation would change, but when all that snow fell on us, we called it quits that night. We considered just flipping straight to the Sierra, but the fires were really bad there still. I had friends in the area who were totally smoked out. C'est la vie! We made the most of it.
Yeah, it worked out well and was WAYY cheaper than renting a camper van. A minivan would have been easier, but I wanted to play with 4x4 and get to places I normally couldn’t. We used it for 6 weeks! ✌️
I started watching a sobo hike series and ended up watching a beautiful love story.. May you both have a life of great joy together.
Crazy change of plans! great video as always Ryan.
Thank you!
Love it! Good luck with the new plans

Yeah man! Crater Lake got over three feet!
Wow! When did you decide to get off the trail? I was wondering what you'd do ... in the Sierras!

What is the brand of ur sandales? They look very strong! Thanks
Bedrocks. They are very strong indeed! Put around 1,000miles on them before the tread was too far gone.
@@RyanKodakBrown thanks!
Nice idea to rent normal car, buy cheap wood from walmart and create camper for several days.
